MAC Azalea Blush

MAC Azalea Blush ($17.00 for 0.21 oz. pan-only) is described as a “bright iridescent blue pink.” It’s a bold, brightened, medium-dark fuchsia pink with cool violet pearl that gives it a luminous finish. MAC Full Fuchsia (P, $24.00) is less shimmery, darker (95% similar). ColourPop Pegacorn (DC, $8.00) is less shimmery, more muted (95% similar). ColourPop Pie (DC, $8.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). ColourPop More, Please (LE, $8.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). NARS Coeur Battant (P, $30.00) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Jilted (P, ) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (85% similar). Wayne Goss Shocking (PiP, ) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (80% similar). MAC Rhubarb (P, $24.00) is less shimmery, darker, more muted (80% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Narcissist (LE, $60.00) is warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC’s Powder Blush formula is supposed to be easy to apply, long-wearing, and have “fantastic colour.” It’s hard to generalize for MAC’s blush formula, because it varies a lot from shade to shade, even within different types of finishes! Some of them are very good, others are so-so, and a few are complete misses. The more frosted/shimmery shades tend to have the softest and smoothest textures and are easier to apply and blend out on the skin, while more satin and matte shades can sometimes be powdery, firm, or stiff, which makes blending more challenging. The wear is typically between six and nine hours but closer to seven to eight hours on average. Azalea is intensely pigmented with a soft, finely-milled texture that is easily blended on the skin and can be sheered out if desired. You’ll want to use a feathery brush or a very light hand if you prefer light coverage, but it’s certainly doable–it does lend itself more towards a very pigmented initial application. On me, the color lasted for nine hours with minimal fading.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Sort of reminds me of Tom Ford Narcissist….but not so frosty or shimmery.

I see you know have the note whether it was purchased or sample. It makes a difference for me to know which brand likes to solicit and you wanted a particular product. Though this item does not specify.

One more thing….I appreciate that you post my comment even at times that comment may not precisely meant to be about that product, but is remotely related….six degrees apart.
When I tried to post at times at other blogger’s comment section and I do it so rarely, they don’t post it. This has happened in three occasions on three different bloggers. If they are so discriminate, then why even have a comment section. Like other viewers probably, I like your reviews, but it is the comment section that makes the website everlasting and interesting….our voices…seeing the world from different pairs of eyes. Thank you.

Disclosures are very important, and we actually added them in additional places with the redesign, so it was an oversight (truly horrific) that they weren’t also responsive (so they weren’t showing on smaller iterations of the design) – as soon as my brother-in-law logged on this morning, it was priority #1. Thank you again for bringing it to my attention, as I am VERY strongly in favor of over-disclosure, so it was always supposed to be readily available on all devices at all times on all relevant pages.

This is one of the (many) reasons I trust your reviews, Christine! I’ll look at other blogs for swatches or to see a look done with specific product, but I feel like a lot of beauty bloggers/writers don’t make their disclosures at all clear! (Also, this blush is calling my name!)

I was wondering about the disclosure. I assumed perhaps the rules had changed, but even so, I would imagine you’d continue, Christine. There are sooo many v/bloggers who don’t disclose…

I appreciate Christine because she has always told us if she paid for a product or if she got it via press sample. And her comment section is great lol

This one applies so beautifully and smoothly! What a gorgeous color!
But also probably not a shade I would wear every day ( although I DID during the 80’s, lol ) , so I would maybe get CP Pegacorn instead. But yeah, Azalia looks really gorgeous on you!

I agree with you, Christine, because I actually do wear ultra bright shades such as this and it looks wonderful, but I’m definitely not VERY light or VERY dark, but straight down the middle! It all depends on what else I pair it with.

This is my ideal lipstick color. It’s perfect. Matte or gloss, doesn’t matter. Why or why is it so hard to find the perfect fuchsia lip!? Wish I could bottle this 😉

Thanks so much for the beautiful swatches. This is a really helpful reference when I need to get a new blush, which might be sooner than later because of the pretty swatches. I m interested in Sunbasuqe as a summer blush because of all the good reviews on it, but I m worried it ll be too orange or brown on me. Do you think it ll work for someone who is NW15 with yellow undertones?
