Kat Von D Exorcism Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is described as a “ripe blackberry.” It’s a deepened–but a bit muted–plummy burgundy with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage that went on moderately evenly. It could have applied better, but it didn’t look noticeably streaky from a normal viewing distance, only when close-up. This shade wore well for eight hours with minimal fading but was drying after six hours. Maybelline Burgundy Blush (P, $7.99) is lighter, warmer. MAC Eugenie (LE, $16.00) is lighter, glossier. MAC Living Legend (LE, $16.00) is darker, glossier. MAC Runner (LE, $16.00) is warmer, glossier. Tom Ford Beauty Black Dahlia (10) (LE, $50.00) is brighter. Kat Von D Motorhead (P, $21.00) is lighter. Bite Beauty Bordeaux (P, $28.00) is glossier. MAC Sin (P, $16.00) is lighter, glossier. MAC Talk That Talk (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery. MAC Fixed on Drama (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer, glossier. MAC Soulfully Rich (P, $18.00) is darker, cooler, glossier. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Kat Von D Damned Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is described as a “black cherry.” It’s a blackened burgundy with warm, red undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff as well, which had similar issues where it didn’t look all that even up-close, but it was okay from afar. There is room for improvement, but the more matte dry down helped it have better results than other shades in this family (which are often troublesome to apply). The color lasted a very long eight hours before I removed, and it was still going strong at that point. It was drying after six hours of wear. MAC Prince Noir (LE, $16.00) is cooler, glossier. MAC Soulfully Rich (P, $18.00) is cooler, glossier. MAC Sin (P, $16.00) is lighter, cooler. Urban Decay Blackmail (P, $22.00) is darker, cooler. MAC Living Legend (LE, $16.00) is lighter, glossier. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Anita (P, $18.00) is glossier. Kat Von D Motorhead (P, $21.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

FORMULA SUMMARY | Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is supposed to be a “long-wear, full coverage liquid lipstick with a smooth, matte finish.” Of the liquid lipsticks on the market that go and have a full dry-down, Kat Von D’s formula remains my favorite, as it is the easiest to apply with the kindest learning curve and lasts awhile. Some shades are more drying than others, but typically they don’t get drying until after five to six hours of wear. They often wear anywhere from six to ten hours, depending on what you’ve had to eat or drink during the day. This formula is thin but not watery, has a longer dry down than most liquid lipsticks (but I noticed some of the newer shades dried to a mostly dry finish faster), and layers better than most (you can touch-up or add a second layer for more coverage). It takes about a minute for it to mostly set, but it will remain a little tacky in places for up to three minutes so you’ll want to avoid pressing your lips together if it doesn’t seem totally dry initially. There isn’t a noticeable scent or taste. If you don’t mind the trade-off between very long, near-pristine wear and being drying, it’s worth checking out. As a bonus, these also come with one of the most generous amounts of products within the realm of liquid lipsticks!

Well, I love me a bold red lip, so maybe Nosferatu or Exorcism, but Lolita is tempting too. And Susperia is so pretty and unique. Decisions, decisions….

I got Exorcism yesterday and while I had the same experience as you, for some reason it turned near black on my lips. At least the formula is versatile so when I dab it on my lips, it gives a lovely wine-stained look

Both beautiful and I think easily fixed by a liner underneath? Exorcism is such a neat color, do want. I want Damned too but might forgo it for UD Blackmail.

Mesa Avatar

I’ve been wearing Damned with MAC’s Burgundy pencil underneath. It really makes a world of difference application-wise. I’m obsessed with this color! Can’t even wait till fall to break it out lol

Raven Avatar

I want these to be my Chanel Vamp dupe(the original Hydrabase formula, not Rouge Coco) in the worst possible way, but neither of them quite work.

I keep saying I’m not going to get any of the liquid lipsticks on the market because they’re all drying to some degree… then Exorcism happens and leaves my willpower struggling to remain in control. =)

I bought both of these as soon as they were released. Love them but was disappointed to discover Damned is almost the exact same color as her liquid version of Vampira, which I also own.

I sort of collect all the KVD lipsticks so I’m keeping it, but I’d say if you have one, you don’t need them both!
