Top 10: Best of Urban Decay
I think the first product I fell in love with from Urban Decay was their eyeliner (though possibly their eyeshadow… it’s been awhile!). Over the last couple of years, they’ve really expanded their range to be more comprehensive again (I feel like they were comprehensive when I first got into makeup but wasn’t following the brand, and then a lot of core products, like blush, were MIA for years). With great difficulty, I managed to narrow down to a top ten, but if you’re curious, here is what I started whittling it down from. What are your favorites from Urban Decay?
I love the eyeliner as well – I have Mushroom in a liner and I also love the unique shades of shadow like my newest purchase – Freelove!

I have Stash, Mushroom and Dive Bar and -love- them!
Gah, now I think about it, there’s so much I love from UD! Apart from those three though:
Liar Lipstick (though I’ve managed to completely use mine up)
Deep End Eyeliner (special mention to Perversion for being my go-to for everyday use on the waterline)
Chase Eyeshadow (very dupeable colour but the texture of my single is just so so soft and incredible)
Riff Eyeshadow (another new one to me, but I love this so much – the warmth in it helps make some eye looks less ashy on me without adding shimmer).
Oh and the liquid eyeliners – I know some don’t like the brush, but I actually find them *so* easy to use and manipulate the thickness of the line with, I use Perversion pretty much everyday. Smog and Siren are such pretty colours too.
The texture of Chase is phenomenal! I wish all of their eyeshadows were that smooth!

Wow – great timing! The UD F&F Sale started today. I already have (and totally LOVE) the Bittersweet blush. I just ordered Fireball and Dive Bar a few days ago and am using them to make a palette along with Cosmo and Ether. Going to pick up Quiver gloss, Rapture blush (I think this will make an amazing contour for me), and Strip lipstick now during the sale. Another fav of mine with UD is the Bittersweet gloss. I use it alone or mixed with a lipstick like the Bite Thistle or the Shu Uemura Daring Violet. The UD 24/7 liners are a staple in my vanity and I have just about every one of them. I love the way they blend out and last and the shade variety.

I’m not much into UD’s single products. I’ve opted for Sephora liners and MAC/MUG eyeshadows instead because I can buy the pans. I like their Naked Basic palettes and the Pulp Fiction palette and I have three revolution lipsticks. I have a list of a few eyeshadow singles that I want though: Lounge, Backfire, Last Call, and Roach. Would you recommend those four?
Those are nice! I think Backfire is probably the one I’d recommend most. Lounge you’ll find it almost every brand, so it’s not bad, but it IS dupable. Last Call and Roach are nice but I think a little more dupable – Roach is probably a bit better in quality over Last Call.
I’ve been wearing Bittersweet lately and I love it so much! Stash, Rapture and Catfight are definitely next on my list

Loaded and Catfight look so lovely.how I missed these two? and I don’t have many single eyeshadows from UD other than in the Naked palettes after I’m a little bit disappointed with Moondust eyeshadows
Their single eyeshadows are pretty different from Moondust!
Is Strip only available from Urban Decay’s website?
As far as I know, it is available wherever UD is sold!
I really love their Fishnet eyeshadow, it goes on and stays on nicely, and I love the bright (but not garish) pinky purple shade. It makes my brown & green eyes really stand out.
The duochrome on that one is nice!
Very weird but I ended up returning Catfight (and I rarely return products) but I absolutely LOVE F-Bomb, despite the name. I wanted to get 69 (name issues again) to replace Catfight but they were sold out and now, I actually think Manic might be more the shade I’m looking for. The 24/7 liners are not so “24/7” on me – they all smudge and don’t last all that great. So my favourites would be:
Primer Potion – it literally changed my makeup-wearing life when I first found it (I have Original, Eden and Sin and love them all)
F-Bomb lipstick
Mushroom eyeshadow
Darkhorse eyeshadow
Suspect eyeshadow
Snare eyeshadow
Evidence eyeshadow
All Nighter setting spray (does this count? if not, then Haight eyeshadow or maybe Snakebite or Rockstar – love ’em all)
and in the “love ’em but don’t own them yet” category would be Rapture blush (I agree with your choice there, Christine) and Manic lipstick.
What didn’t you like about Catfight, Mariella? Curious minds need to know!
Manic is a gorgeous color! Not too bright, not too light/dark.
Christine, I think the biggest issue was that in store, it looked very different from what I was expecting – it was much brighter and more garish. Also, I found it didn’t last nearly as well as F-Bomb, which lasted amazingly and when it did fade, it faded evenly and left a nice stain behind while Catfight faded unevenly and left a bright and garish ring around my lip-line.

I like other formulas more than UD’s pencil eyeliner formula now, but it’s still a good formula (for me) and has a great color range!
Great minds think alike! I already have 3 of the favorites – Stash, Dive Bar, and Bittersweet. Love them all! I’m also thinking about getting UD Vortex and Tonic shadows

Tonic looks really pretty – I’ve been considering that one as well but I was afraid it was too close to Ether which I already have. Do you know if they’re similar?
I don’t have either Tonic or Ether, but I googled swatches, and they don’t look alike at all. Tonic looks pink with purple duo chrome, and Ether looks like a sparkly medium dark purple. You can also use the Swatch feature under Temptalia to compare the swatches.
Fireball, Catfight and Quiver are all on my wish list! They look great 🙂 I own Stash, Mushroom and Rapture – and love them!

8. De Slick setting spray and De Slick in a tube- haven’t found anything better
9. Lingerie and Galoshes for lashes, though the new subversion primer is pretty similar
10. pocket rocket lip glosses 🙁 so sad they’re gone even if they smelled horrible
Naked Super Saturated Lip Pencil is SO pretty!
Wonderful picks. My favorites would be The Electric Palette; Sheer Revolution Lipstick in Sheer Rapture; Revolution Lipstick in Crush (LE); the whole Pulp Fiction Collection; Afterglow Blush in Bittersweet, Rapture, and Quiver; 24/7 eyeliner pencils in Perversion, Roach, Mars, Woodstock, Psychedelic Sister; and The Naked Basics Palette.

I *love* Mushroom! If I wear it on my mobile lid and then blend it out at the edges just into the crease, it makes the perfect professional-yet-kinda-smoky look. (I’m also really pale, so I can’t wear a “real” smoky eye without looking like I got into a fistfight).

Stash is my all time favorite eyeliner! It makes my boring, light brown eyes look golden. Even though they made a Stash eyeshadow in the Vice 2 palette, it didn’t look very much like the eyeliner. Unfortunately, it sheered out to be very muddy. I wish UD would reformulate the Stash eyeshadow and put it out as a single. And that it would actually look like the eyeliner!
Stash is a fab shade for the lash line!

Great choices Christine – I love Stash, Loaded and Mushroom. Personally I would also have included Half Baked – a great gold and Gunmetal – a great grey/blue.
Half Baked has a great texture, too!
These are some really great picks for UD’s top ten and yes, there are so many good ones, but Dive Bar eyeshadow and Strip lip color are definitely faves for me.

I have many of these. Love UD. I don’t have the blush but will within a couple weeks. Love it. The revolution lip gloss is awesome.e. I have a very similar color but, as usual, don’t remember the name.

I own four of the items on the list. Admittedly I haven’t used my Mushroom or Loaded eyeshadow or my Stash eyeliner in a while. Time to pull them out I think. I really do love Stash along the lower lash line. I wear Strip lipstick fairly often, but being fair skinned Liar is my go to color. Thinking of doing all Urban Decay makeup looks next week.
Liar and Strip are both great shades. I like most of the range of Revolution shades, actually!

One of my favorite lipsticks of ALL time is Catfight!!! Turn On is one of the only cool-tone lighter pinks I have ever owned that just works on me, an extreme rarity for a blue-pink lighter than fuschia! I also really want to get Liar lipstick and gloss! Vice gloss, too. Rapture blush is something on my wishlist as well. And then there are the eyeshadows: Fireball, Dive Bar, Roach, Rockstar, and X, love using them all! UD has blues I can actually wear and that look great on me: Shattered, Freeze, Prank and Madness, all from palettes, not singles though.

I love Urban Decay and I have far too many favorites to list here, I would be typing all night. I have many backups of my favorite discontinued items, right down to the original Pot Holes eye shadows. I think I have enough Gash lipstick and nail polish to last the rest of my life. I really miss the Lip Gunks, they were just great. I have them stashed in the old milk cooler in my house, dark, cool, and dry. If I still had a milk man, he wouldn’t be able to fit the milk in!

Strip is my HG MLBB color, and once I realized that, I bought multiple tubes!! It’s only available on the website, and I’m so glad that I took that chance and ordered it, because I’ve turned on SO many of my friends to Urban Decay via showing them this lipstick!!
I also agree with your “Mushroom” choice, in the eyeshadow AND liner (I think I have most of the liners at this point, but Mushroom is my go-to). I’m not very skilled enough yet to try the blue eyeshadow – any bright color eye makeup, really – without looking like Mimi from “The Drew Carey Show” or like my DeLorean made a pit-stop here from the 80s…but I have friends that I’ll eventually harangue into teaching me some skills!! ;o)
Also, if I might ask – I’m naturally pretty pale, and flush very easily, so I’ve never been too concerned with buying/wearing blush…and yeah, I know it’s pretty much personal preference, but what are your thoughts about this? As a UD fanatic, I feel like I should buy one of those blushes (and actually I think Rapture might be my shade), but I’m not quite sure I would use it and/or if I wore it, it would be too much. If this is too much for a reply, I don’t mind an email response, and I don’t need a response ASAP, because I know you’re most likely insanely busy. I’m just curious.
Rapture is the one I’d actually recommend 🙂 If you want something even subtler, then maybe Video, which may run too warm depending on your skin tone. But Rapture will give you a natural blush-y kind of color with some buildability so you can get the coverage you want.
