Guerlain Yellow It-stick & Fluo Stiletto Rouge Automatiques Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Guerlain Yellow It-stick (603) Rouge Automatique
Guerlain Yellow It-stick (603) Rouge Automatique ($37.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “golden tone.” It’s a brightened, yellowed base with fine gold shimmer. It’s supposed to have an “iridescent, sheer finish” for a “barely there look,” so as you might expect… it is sheer. If you wanted to wear bright, sunshine yellow on your lips, you’re out of luck. If you wanted a sheer layer of golden shimmer, this is your speed. It has a lightweight, very emollient, wet-like feel on the lips, so it glides on without tugging. On its own, it lasts only two hours, making it one of the shorter-wearing shades I’ve tried in the formula, though it was hydrating. MAC Highlights (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Tom Ford Beauty William (LE, $32.00) is more pigmented, less glossy. NYX Mischievous (P, $6.00) is more pigmented. Tom Ford Beauty Solar Gold (LE, $49.00) is very similar. MAC Playland (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery/pigmented. Dolce and Gabbana Topazio (LE, $33.00) is darker, more pigmented. Guerlain Altoum (LE, $35.00) is more sparkly. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Triptych (P, $18.00) is more pigmented, more shimmery. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Guerlain Fluo Stiletto (662) Rouge Automatique ($37.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “neon pink.” It’s an extremely bright, magenta fuchsia with cool, blue undertones and a soft shine. It had semi-opaque color coverage that went on fairly evenly with a lightweight consistency that wasn’t too thick or too thin. It wore well for five hours and left a slight stain behind while feeling moisturizing while worn. It is a very dupable color, as this is just one of those shades that every brand seems to do at some point, though less do it with the glossier finish (many options are more matte), but there are still lots of variations on it. NYX Privileged (P, $6.00) is lighter. Maybelline Orchid Ecstasy (730) (P, $7.49) is very similar. Tom Ford Beauty Pablo (LE, $32.00) is slightly darker. Tom Ford Beauty Jack (LE, $32.00) is more muted. Tom Ford Beauty Justin (LE, $32.00) is more shimmery. NARS Angela (P, $32.00) is more opaque, cooler-toned. MAC Boutique Pink (LE, $22.00) is similar. MAC Lust Extract (LE, $17.00) is more muted. Givenchy Rose Perfecto (209) (P, $36.00) is similar. MAC Kelly Yum-Yum (LE, $16.00) is similar. Too Faced Melted Fuchsia (P, $21.00) is darker. MAC Happy-Go-Lucky (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Sephora + Pantone Universe Radiant Rush (LE, $18.00) is darker. Bite Beauty Violet (P, $24.00) is brighter. Bite Beauty Moscato (P, $28.00) is brighter. Bite Beauty Satsuma (LE, $24.00) is brighter, less glossy. Marc Jacobs Beauty Gossip (140) (LE, $30.00) is more matte. NARS Full Frontal (LE, $26.00) is more muted. Marc Jacobs Beauty Happy Ending (116) (P, $30.00) is lighter. Urban Decay Anarchy (P, $22.00) is darker. Maybelline Electric Fuchsia (LE, $7.49) is brighter. NARS Yu (P, $25.00) is more matte. MAC Pink Pigeon (P, $16.00) is more matte. MAC Daddy’s Little Girl (LE, $16.00) is more muted. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Phew, thank god that yellow isn’t too opaque, lol.
It’s certainly going to be more wearable to more people that way!
These remind me of those Korean color changing lipsticks for some reason (sheer coverage, light to bright, pastel shades, soft sheen). I was tempted until I saw this review. Nice…but so many other things out right now that I love much more.
Thanks!!! You saved me some money. I do like the pink though…
No problem, Megan! I bet you have something like the pink already!
More than one…
Fluo Stiletto is beautiful but I have a lot of similar kind of shades already.
Yep, sums it up – so many similar shades already, so it may not be a great buy for some!
Honestly I don’t anyone who would willingly pay 37.00 for a virtually transparent lipstick that last for 2 hrs at best. I’m honestly surprised it scored so well.
I rate based on what it’s supposed to do – it’s supposed to be sheer 🙂 It’s not fair to downgrade a product simply because of a preference for pigmentation (or not) if the product is what it’s supposed to be. That’s like getting mad that a moisturizer for oily skin isn’t moisturizing enough for dry skin, you know? There are, though, many who do prefer sheerer lip products, otherwise formulas like Chanel Rouge Coco Shines wouldn’t be so popular!
I think Yellow it-stick is a unique once but the shimmer gold in there was too subtle for me to used it on top of another lipsticks
When you layer lipsticks, do you normally use a lip brush?
yes,try to used layer lipsticks by apply it from the tube in the past and they look uneven on my lips!
For $ 37, the yellow is ridiculously underwhelming, and the pink is pretty, but very dupe-able.
Totally understand!
I like Fluo but I don’t know if I’d buy it.
I feel like if it had a juicer finish, it might be more interesting, but it’s too close to the 234879234 satin/matte options for me to get all excited for it!
The golden one looks very flattering on its own and something fun to play with when combining with other lipsticks. Nice!
It would be nice layered with a semi-sheer gloss, I think.
Underwhelmed by the yellow one.
I can understand that!
I really like both of these. I think they are over priced though. I actually prefer the Yellow-It-Stick over the other because it is less dupable for me. However, I purchased all 4 of the Tom Ford lip sheers and I don’t really feel the need for another especially at this price.
You’re covered with the TFs!
I was looking at the yellow one going ….ew. But as sheer as it is, it might layer well over something more matte.
That is probably why they went with sheer!
I was secretly hoping Yellow It-Stick would be an opaque colour, but then it wouldn’t be so wearable 😉 Ah well, the effect is lovely nonetheless!
lol! That would be interesting.
Hm. I sort of feel like a lot of what’s come from Guerlain this year has been a bit “meh”. I liked the Baby Glow and Pressed Meteorites, but their colour selections haven’t been exciting, and they usually are.
They haven’t been releasing as many color products – the summer collection is really quite small, even for Guerlain. Where are the limited edition highlighter/blush powders?
Exactly! I was really hoping for a special release with this to add to my happy little box of limited Guerlain powders. I’ve pretty much decided to skip this collection and move on to the new single eye shadows.
I’m actually impressed to see Guerlain come out with a yellow lipstick. Even if it is sheer. I think it’s pretty cool they decided to take a walk on the wild side. That pink is everything though! I love that color
It is fun to see a higher-end brand have a lil’ fun!
I love Fluo Stiletto, and fortunately I have a bazillion dupes. I don’t like Yellow Stick-It enough to pay this much for it, but I do think it’s very pretty for layering.
It’s one of those shades that unless you’re a huge, huge fan of sheerer formulations, it’s probably not going to be “worth it.”
I was kind of gutted this wasn’t a bright yellow lipstick! Would have loved to have seen what that would look like 😀 To be fair I do really like the finish, it looks really glamorous, the kind of lips you would expect a greek goddess to have.
You should check out OCC’s Triptych – that is pretty much this on steroids!
I like the “yellow” one, but I’m quite certain I have a gloss similar enough in my stash to serve the same purpose (as a layering shade), so I’ll find somewhere else to spend the $37-which shouldn’t be too difficult, LOL! The pink is pretty, too, just not my cup of tea…
I’m sure you do! I think a gloss is probably easier to layer with, too.
Hi! I’m new here. I never buy a high end lipstick without checking it out here first.
Christine , would the yellow compliment an nc45 in Mac studio complexion? Will the shimmer show? Its so pretty.
I think it would – the shimmer should show, but it’s a subtle amount of shimmer (regardless of skin tone).
Thanks Christine! How does the Guerlain Rouge Automatique Yellow It-Stick 603 compare to MAC Highlights lipstick? I have MAC Highlights and I’m wondering if I could skip this one. Which has more shimmer?
Highlights is listed as a dupe above! You can click “see comparison swatches” or “compare dupes side-by-side” to see them together.
Yes, I realize it is listed as a dupe above. With the various pixels and screen resolutions, it is a bit of a challenge to see which has more shimmer.
The photos are larger (zoomed in/macro) than the products/swatches are in real life, so my eye isn’t going to be any better! Looking at the photos, the shimmer in Highlights is a lot finer and blends in with the base color, so Guerlain’s stands out as much more shimmery to me.
Christine, does Fluo Stiletto have a gold sheen to it or is that an artefact from the camera/lighting? If so, maybe it’s not so dupe-able except with a couple of the Marc Jacobs LoveMarc Lip Gels? Either way, it’s a beautiful color on you!
No gold sheen! 🙂
What a miss for Guerlain – yellow lipstick! Hmm it really doesn’t look good and I can think of other lipsticks that I would spend that kind of money on
I do like that they throw in some more interesting concepts from time to time! Better than red, red, red!
Boo, Guerlain, you’ve done better in the gold shimmer lipstick category.
I think a gloss would have been more appropriate for this concept, though they do have Gold Tchlack (something like that…).
It’s really funny, but many years back, Revlon had a Moondrops lippy with spf that honestly looked a whole lot like this yellow one! And I got it to wear to the beach, lol! I wouldn’t wear something like this now though. As for the fuchsia one….I am all fuchsia-d out! Already have Pink Pigeon, Anarchy, Fuchsia Flash, Orchid Ecstasy, and a softer, more watermelon fuchsia in Diva-ish. Gotta thank you for saving me some $$$ though! Lots of stuff on my wishlist to try to get!
SOOO many fuchsias!
The yellow one is actually quite pretty on. I have a sunscreen stick for eyes and lips that gives a similar kind of gold shimmer coating. It’s Boots No. 7 brand, which I think is available in some US drugstores (in some Shoppers locations in Canada), and it was under a tenner here. Having to reapply often doesn’t hurt so much with a cheap product!
Are you a big fan of Boots No. 7? I think it’s at Target (though I don’t know how much of the range is), but I haven’t really tried it. I probably BOUGHT SOME but haven’t gotten to it, lol.
Your eye make-up is so pretty here, I’m so stealing it!
Thanks, Kay!
