Round-up: Clinique Cheek Pops (Spring 2015) Overview & Thoughts
Clinique Cheek Pops ($21.00 for 0.12 oz.) now come in eight more shades! It’s one of my favorite powder blush formulas, so I was thrilled to see them expand the range from four to twelve, but I was even more excited to find them to be as high-performing as the original four shades. There are a lot of great things about the formula, but my personal favorite is the luminous finish that gives the skin a real glow without looking shimmery, frosted, or shiny. All of the new shades had good color payoff, long-wear, superior blendability, and were very easy to use. The weakest part of the range is how dupable many shades are, so you may find you already have similar shades in your stash from other brands. You can’t go wrong with any of the shades, and I would happily use any of the twelve. I think it’s going to come down to your own preference for color and undertone and what you might reach for more. I would love to see an almost highlighter-like shade (something champagne/beige), neutral medium rosy brown, and a cool plummy-taupe next, please and thank you!

COOL UNDERTONES: Berry Pop (A), Heather Pop (A-), Pansy Pop (A-), Pink Pop (A+), Plum Pop (A), Rosy Pop (A)
Oh thank you!!! I’m definitely picking up some up during the Sephora sale. Still trying to narrow down the list, but Pansy is looking good
You’re welcome, Katherine!
Thank you for reviewing them all, Christine! You’re the best. <3
My pleasure, Ryou! 🙂
I just opened these up in the swatch gallery and thought about how nice it was that there was an even split of cool and warm undertones with these!
I was surprised to see it was more even than not, lol! Though I think a couple of the cool shades are right on the border (vs. the warm shades are all definitely warm!).
I am so looking forward to getting some of these blushes. Checking Sephora website every day to see if they are available to other people than just VIB Rouge members!
I really hope it opens up soon!!
I keep wanting to try this formula but already have so many dupes of colors I’m interested in. I’m going to pick up nude pop as soon as I see it though, it’s the only one unique enough that I don’t have anything similar.
At least there was one! 😀
Rosy Pop and Melon Pop look amazing. Thanks for the post and the swatches, makes me want to go and get one!
Of course, Kay! xo
Thank you for this round up of Clinique’s cheek pops. Nude is definitely coming home with me. Melon and Fig possibly also. My wallet is going to hurt after this!
Poor, poor wallet!
Wow, if every single one is so good, they should make them into a palette
That would be cool!
I think I’ve settled on Cola Pop, Pansy Pop and maybe Fig Pop. Thank you for all of the swatches and reviews, Christine – they’ve really helped me to decide! 🙂 These look so amazing and I’m excited to finally add this formula to my collection.
So happy I could help, Kimmy! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
Christine, I really like this new format of the roundup. I am also thinking of picking up Melon pop and Fig pop. So pretty. Thank you for these reviews and summaries!
No problem, Roberta!
Fig Pop is my favorite 😀
Yay!
It is so encouraging to see a brand come out with such a consistent formula! Kudos to Clinique for offering so many shades and the lowest being an A-! Excited to pick a few of these up 🙂
It is! And they’re really more affordable than most!
So I purchases Melon pop and I feel like it’s hard to pick up the color on my brush… Which means I can’t really get it on my face… I’m wondering if I got a dud. :-/
Oh no! 🙁 What brush are you using? If you have another brush, maybe try that!
I tried the shu pony cheek brush and my old mac 116. I’ll try one more time, and if it doesn’t work then I guess this baby is going back!
Definitely return it if you can’t get it to work for you, Jk! I’m so sad that it doesn’t seem to be working so far, though 🙁 The MAC 116 should work, given it isn’t THAT soft of a brush (like I could see a blue squirrel-haired brush not getting tons of color out of it, due to the flower design making the surface kind of uneven).
A lot of these new shades looked different from what I expected (from the names alone). They are all great shades, but I would love to see some deeper and more muted cool shades (not just a lot of pinks). A cool muted plummy brown, a light-medium taupe and a shade similar to nars sin would be perfect.
I neeeeeed a brown in this formula.
I ended up ordering Pansy, Fig and Cola from Sephora VIB sale. I couldn’t turn down lavender. I’m really hoping I can apply Cola and Fig sheer enough for my fair skin. Fig is so beautiful, and Cola so unique/gorgeous, I couldn’t resist trying them out.
These roundups are so helpful. The new layout for them looks great and is easy to follow.
So glad I could help out, Rachel! 😀
I like this list. These Clinique Blushes look so enticing. I want to buy them all!
They’re really lovely!
I have Cola and Nude form the new range and Peach form the original. Now, I need to decide between Ginger and Fig and Pink, heather, and Rosy.. Those are close but so pretty in their own rights. I know I want Pansy and Plum too. I guess I am actually going to have to go swatch if these are actually in store. I hope so by this weekend. I need to get my sale list ready! I wish I had discovered these a long time ago. I have bought a lot of high end blushes. I find myself reaching for these a lot now that I have them. They are so effortless and great for rushed mornings. Thanks for the reviews Christine and the round-up and Including the original formula! you are the best!
It’s so hard to choose!! I look forward to seeing which ones you narrow it down to.
Thank you so much for the switching and the comparisons. I kind of want them all, and it’s even harder to choose because I don’t have very many blushes so dupes aren’t an issue. I think I’ve narrowed it down to Nude, Heather and, because I’ve turned into an evil enabler and my partner is getting back into make up, Cola for her.
My pleasure, Telesilla! 🙂
Hahahaha! And so, Cola also for you. A little at least!
Thank you for doing this! I’ve now got my list narrowed down to Heather, Pansy and Nude. I can’t wait to order.
You’re welcome! xo
I’m not sure I could pull off Cola or Fig but I like the whole lot of them!
You never know 😉
I already picked up Peach and Berry and am wearing Berry now. I am now waiting for Sephora to order more. I am wondering whether they will go to VIB before going public– any clues about that?
No idea when they’ll make these available to everyone! Usually it’s a one week period based on what I remember seeing in the past for other VIB Rouge exclusives!
I am so glad you reviewed these blushes because I thought the original four were so great. I am glad you pointed out that a couple of new colors are similar so I will skip those for now. Yes, I agree a highlighter shade and a medium rosy brown is needed. I think they missed out on making Fig rosy brown instead of being too similar to Ginger.
I was surprised Fig was so orange, to be honest!
Fig and Cola Pop are bound to end up in my collection lol
😀
Hi Christine! Any thoughts on which shade would be the best fit for fair, NC20 skin?
If you want something easy, then maybe something like Melon or Heather?
Thank you for a great round up, Christine!
Thinking about picking up pink, heather, or nude. Just one though! Decisions, decisions…
No prob, Bonnie! So hard to pick…
Ooh.. So pretty! I want cola pop, fig pop, heather pop and pansy pop.. <3
They are!
Blush is my favorite makeup product-but these honestly do nothing for me. I have no interest in them at all. The colors just look so basic-nothing unique or special. I have other blush in my stash that are easily dupes for all of these.
The flower presentation is adorable-but not enough to make me want any of these.
Oh, that’s too bad, Gina!
Just got the display for these at ULTA but the colors aren’t coming for another week – 2 weeks! Bummer! They are getting Cola though so I am super excited!! I’m surprised they came out with so many blushes this season though. The Sculptionary Blush palettes are awesome, especially the nectars and nudes.
Gahh! At least they gave you a date!
I have melon pop and want other colors. I’m a neutral to nc15-20.
Is peach pop too similar? What do you suggest for me Christine? And thank you!
I don’t think it’s TOO similar, but you might opt for something with more contrast/tonal differences as your second one. I think Fig Pop and Pink Pop would also work for you!
