MAC x Mia Moretti Summer Wind Cream Colour Base Review, Photos, Swatches
MAC Summer Wind Cream Colour Base
MAC Summer Wind Cream Colour Base ($21.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “pale sand shimmer.” It’s a light, golden beige with warm undertones and a soft sheen. Becca Moonstone (P, $38.00) is yellower. Estee Lauder Courreges (LE, $32.00) is lighter, powder. bareMinerals The Premiere (LE, $26.00) is darker, powder. MAC Born to Dazzle (LE, $28.00) is more sparkly, powder. Chanel Dentelle Precieuse (LE, $80.00) is darker, powder. NARS 413 BLKR (P, $30.00) is lighter. Becca Moonstone (P, $38.00) is powder. theBalm Mary Lou-manizer (P, $24.00) is powder. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
The Cream Colour Base formula is described as a “multi-purpose” product that can be “applied directly to bare skin, or layered over foundation, moisturizer, or powder.” The effect ranges from a “light veil to highly dramatic, depending on method of application.” In the full range, there are sometimes shades that cannot be worn on lips or eyes, and my press sample didn’t have a warning sheet, so I’m not 100% sure on this, but given that similarly light shades like this (think Pearl, Luna, etc.) are fine all-over, it’s probably the case here. The texture of Summer Wind is lovely; it’s lightweight, thin with little slip, but enough slip that it blends and plays well with bare skin as well as over foundation. It sits on the skin exceptionally well and is less dewy than I’d expect; it’s very your-skin-but-better with a golden glow. On my skin tone, the warmth is less apparent than it might otherwise be on fairer skin tones. On me, it wore well for seven hours before sliding around.
P.S. — There is also another shade (Desert Roadtrip) in this collection, which I don’t have at this time.

This product doesn’t sound too appealing to me! But your eyes Christine, so pretty! These eyeshadows look great!
Thank you, Agata!
I like this~ For some reason I can wear MAC cream colour on eyes without creasing.. caveat: I do tap a bit of NARS smudgeproof first. I may have to pick this one up. I think it looks very nice as a cheek highlighter as well.
Even over a primer, it not creasing is impressive!
Love the eye makeup. Everything looks goo on you.
Aw, thank you Lily!
I was hoping this would be similar to becca(poured). It’s cheaper and you get a little bit more product. And its almost a match for estee lauder but performs better, cherry on my sundae! Thank goodness for less expensive dupes. I’ve always been curious how do figure out similar products? Do you have a computer program or do you have this info in your head?

You look so pretty here, love the eye look!
Thank you, Karen!
I didn’t think I would be interested in this, but it’s very pretty! Not pink, and not *too* yellow, either. If I’m lucky it will come to my local MAC counter and I can check it out…
I noticed that you’r wearing IT Cosmetics CC cream in the look, and wonder how you’re liking it. It’s my favorite base product, since I need to wear high all-mineral SPF, and I find it gives me medium coverage and a glow-y finish. I have to mix two shades, and it is a bit thick/sticky to work with. but at least the end result is beautiful and I get my sun protection, too. It has more coverage and higher SPF than the Too Faced BB cream (and is less yellow, too), and the Tarte foundations have become too matte for me as my skin is no longer oily (except on my nose, of course!) I have yet to find a fragrance-free all-mineral sunscreen that I really like under foundation. Clarins UV Plus has fragrance in it. The Paula’s Choice ones mattify the finish of foundation too much for my taste. The CeraVe one is too thick/sticky and the Neutrogena one interferes with my foundation going on smoothly. So the IT CC cream has come to my rescue. One product is easier than two, anyway! It’s just that sometimes I’d like to be able to try some of the other foundations out there, especially when one has a great color match for me (like the new Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation in Rose Beige). I just can’t get them to come out with the finish I’m looking for when I’ve got mineral sunscreen on underneath. Hopefully someday some company will come out with a high-SPF (at least SPF 25 or 30) all-mineral, fragrance-free sunscreen that works great as a primer for foundation. Something like Hourglass’s mineral veil primer, but with a higher SPF.
Hi Fran!
Happy you love yours!
Sorry, I’m not ready to review the CC cream yet 🙂 I usually don’t have any thoughts until I’ve used a base product for a couple of weeks! Sorry again!
That’s OK — I’m looking forward to reading your review when you’re ready — thanks!
Hey Fran, I’m a big fan of the IT CC Cream too. As for trying to to find an all-mineral sunscreen that wears well under foundation, why don’t you pose the question to readers and see what they recommend? You can go to the “Temptalia Asks You” section and submit the question.
That’s a good idea! I think I’ll do that!
This is actually very pretty!
It is!
I was eyeing this, it looks so pretty– so hard to find a cream highlighter that’s not too dark, warm, orange or sparkly. I think I will grab it, and if it doesn’t work out, I can always return it. Hope the IT CC cream works for you, it’s probably my favorite foundation and has SPF 50!
Hopefully! 🙂
YES! Mine! (if the makeup gods would leave one for purchase). I just saw the Estee Lauder’s Courreges highlighter yesterday and it’s just darling. But that in *cream* form is even better. I wanted to switch from Extra-Dimension Whisper of Guilt to a creamier highlighter for the cupid bow/ lower lip, and look at this little multi-tasker!!! Sold!!!
Yayyyy!
Is it normal for a cream product to “slide around” after a while?
It depends on your skin type, base products (if any), climate, and how you apply.
That seems really multi-purpose but I’ll stick with Becca!
🙂
Your review sounded really positive, I’m surprised it only got a B!
In my opinion gives the effect that you just came from the gym on a hot summer day, but I can never understand highlighters anyways. Even with the gym-look, you look gorgeous anyways.
P.S.–that eye look is life
It’s nice but not amazing, if that makes sense! 🙂
That looks sensational on you Christine. And I really, really love your eyeshadows. It is not often I see you in greens – they so suit you. What eye shadow are you wearing, if I may ask. It is beautiful.
Thank you so much, Genevieve!
Here you go:
On eyes: Rouge Bunny Rouge Angelic Cockatiel, Whispering Ibis, Mysterious Tinamou, Trumpeter Koel, Golden Rhea Eyeshadows; Sephora Surfer Babe Eyeliner.
It works great as a cheek highlighter! Yay! I will definitely try to get this. Love your entire makeup look today, especially the eye makeup look!
Thank you, Nancy!
I think it’s beautiful, but I would only be able to use it as a cheekbone highlighter, due to my greasy skin.
Aww!
What a beautiful product. It is just so fresh and would be perfect just to sweep on if your’e running out the door just for an extra little pick me up
Definitely! 😀
