MAC x Julia Petit Linda Blush Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC Linda Blush
MAC Linda Blush

MAC Linda Blush ($24.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “soft pink bronze.” It’s a slightly muted, coppery-orange with warm undertones and a satiny sheen. ColourPop Bonus (P, $8.00) is brighter, cream. NARS Frenzy (Right) (P) is more shimmery. MAC Seduced at Sea (LE, $25.00) is more shimmery. MAC Pleasure Model (LE, $25.00) is darker. MAC Bad Girl Gone Good (LE, $21.00) is darker. NARS Soulshine #2 (LE, $29.00) is more shimmery. NARS Gina (P, $29.00) is similar. MAC Eternal Sun (P, $23.50) is darker, browner. MAC Coppertone (P, $21.00) is slightly darker, rosier. MAC Blazing Haute (LE, $25.00) is lighter. Illamasqua Expose (P, $26.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

The texture is very soft, finely-milled, and blendable, though it can get a smidgen powdery in the pan, but luckily, it doesn’t translate on the skin. Applied, it gives a beautiful, luminous sheen that keeps skin looking natural and fresh without being too dewy. The finish gives a noticeable glow but doesn’t emphasize pores. It’s also very pigmented but diffuses easily for a softer flush if desired. On me, the blush wore well for eight hours before fading. This was one of the best products in the collection.

Hi Christine! First of all, thank you for the amazing work you do for all of us desperate to know which products will be best for us. I’m so appreciative :-). I’ve been looking for a non-frost dupe for MAC’s Wordly Wealth blush from last year’s moody blooms collection. Do you think Linda is comparable?

Thank you!!

How do you think the color will come off on super fair skin, neutral undertones? Orangey-brown? I can’t really seem to find a bronzer that works for me because brown looks so unnatural on me (my skin doesn’t naturally tan brown, it tans red), so I guess I need a bronzer that is more red, and almost mimics a sunburn (I’ve embraced the sunburned look lol).

I hate traditional bronzers too. They turn orange on me. Try Nars blush in Zen, ti si more beige. Or MAC’s contour powder in Sculpt. It is a taupey brown that mixes with the pink in my skin to turn the perfect cool brown. Estee Lauder did a line with Tom Ford before he had his own line and the bronzer from that lin was perfect. Much more taupe than orange. It was huge and luckily I still have some left. Put side to side with MAC’s Sculpt, they are very close, maybe his line has bronzers that are similar now. Sculpt just doesn’t have any shimmer. Look for beigey or taupey blushes, and you will find your bronzer. Three Custom Color makes bronzers in both warm and cool undertones. I”ve never tried any of their products, but that is a way to go as well.

Oh, bummer. Glad this got an A rating, but this shade is way too warm and orange for me, wish they had come out with a more cool toned version.

I’m really thinking about getting this…because I really love my Bad Girl Gone Good blush. Only thing is that i’m NC45 and if this is lighter I don’t know if this will show on me =(

I think it’s beautiful, and I’m happy to see an “A.” I think it might be too orange for me, though. If I tried a shade like this, I’d probably go with the ColourPop, in case it looked awful. Then I’d only be out a third of the money.

How similar do you think this is to Seduced at Sea from the Alluring Aquatics collection? I use that blush practically every day and am very attracted to this blush, but don’t want to buy one too similar.

Hi Christine, would this be similar to Mac’s Her Own Devices (which I absolutely adore and trying to find more blushes in that colour range)… I tried to use the dupe function, but the picture didn’t appear for the latter one. Thanks!

Hey Grace!

Yeah, some of the older photos/swatches weren’t included (we picked a general cut-off when we saw quality tend to go below where we wanted it to be going forward) – good and bad!

Here’s my original post on it: http://www.temptalia.com/mac-venomous-villains-cruella-de-vil-review-photos-swatches

I think Linda is more orange, warmer, a bit brighter and lighter. Her Own Devices seems rosier and more brown-based.

Thanks for your replies Christine! So helpful… I did a side by side of the swatches and yeah, Linda does look a lot more orange, but muted enough for my tastes. I think I will try to find that selected counter once it becomes available.. really pretty in pan and on you, but that’s a given!

Grace Avatar

Woooo… I see ColourPop “Bonus” on the dupe list… might need to get the $8 version of this color 😉 I’m trying to stay on a “no buy”… but something under $10 can be passable right? lol

Missy Avatar

I was waiting for this review- thank you. Does it change color and get much darker? I see you noted that the satin finish does darken some- but does it turn more darker, orange on?

Bookbeauty Avatar

Love the color and the blush looks lovely on you!
However, I think I rather get Gina (no stress, because it’s permanent!) – since this is an online exclusive LE in Germany, I don’t want to stay awake through the night….
Thanks for providing us with informations about dupes 😀
