We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! I’d made up my mind to get this palette (big surprise, hunh? The idea that I have any willpower at all is purely a fantasy, but then the penny dropped and I realized that this is exclusive to ULTA! GRRR! The earliest I’m likely to be in the US is April (to visit my youngest, who is on a co-op term in San Francisco) and this will probably be gone by then!
Every time I have a brand tell me it’s an ULTA exclusive, all I can think is, “But what about Canadians!!” You have me trained well!
I’ll have you singing the words to O Canada in French and saying “eh” before you know it!
Haha! 😉 I always reply back going, “So will it be available in Canada at all…?!” Just, you know, to give them something to think about, lol!
Haha awe thanks Christine!! You are so incredibly thoughtful to keep us Canadians in mind!! 😀
I know how you feel… Can’t even order it though a personal shopper to Canada… Wonder why really? Guess Urban Decay wasn’t interrested in making much money on this one….
I think UD really dropped the ball on this one. I’m in the US, and have an ULTA very close to me, but after the dragged out distribution of this, and the fact UD released it on their own site several hours later than expressly stated, I just don’t want it anymore. The whole thing has me rethinking future purchases, as well…
I’m just not interested in this anymore… I think UD would have been better off just releasing this in the same manner as the other Vice palettes.
I agree. This isn’t the first time I’ve felt like a huge part of the market (not just in Canada but other countries too) are basically being treated like they don’t matter at all. There was a Too Faced Palette (the Rock and Roll one, I think it was) that wasn’t available here either. I’ve been a pretty regular customer, via Sephora, and felt it was just a slap in the face – like purchasers from other countries really don’t matter all that much….
To be fair, lots of Sephoras don’t even carry the Rock N Roll palette. Sephora only carries a selection of the Too Faced palettes. I actually ordered Rock N Roll from Too Faced’s website and it was a huge disappointment anyway. The pigments were weak and there was so much more glitter fall out than I would have liked. I can see why Sephora doesn’t carry it.
No, I realize that – the Country Western one and the Rock and Roll one were only available from TF (and possibly ULTA) but the thing is that Too Faced doesn’t deliver to Canada either (nor does UD, so far as I know). So really, there was no way to get these items unless you have family in the US who will order for you (more and more now, because of online ordering security issues, credit card companies won’t let you have something delivered to an address that isn’t your home address; we used to use my brother in law’s address but for the past year or two, we’ve not been able to do this).
I suppose I can take some comfort from the fact that the palette was disappointing, though there were a few shades in it that I totally loved (and which are probably an awful lot like shades I already have…..but that’s beside the point! 🙂 )
Agreed! If this would have been next holiday’s Vice I probably would have bought it, but as it stands now I /just/ bought Vice3 and KvD Innerstellar, so another big palette isn’t in the budget when I don’t LOVE every color.
They did drop the ball with this one. I only got mine on the UD site release due to a lucky combination of insomnia and Phyrra Nyx’s help. (There was a trick to actually getting it to appear in the cart!)
If they make something an Ulta exclusive in the US, I don’t see why they couldn’t contract with a Canadian store for exclusive distribution there.
I stayed awake past 4am PST, and it still was showing as “Out Of Stock”, so I went to sleep. It wouldn’t have been so bad had UD not expressly stated on their own site that it would have been available at 1am! I signed up for email notification when it would be available, and I didn’t even receive that until nearly 7am, and although only 5 minutes had passed from when the email was sent, it was already sold out. I’m honestly growing bored of these games, and am really considering ending my relationship with UD. It seems MAC has even been making more of an effort to make product available-or, people have just given up the fight…
It kept doing the “out of stock” thing to me, too, till Phyrra posted how to make it appear. I’m glad she figured it out and was awake when she was.
That’s the only tough time I’ve had getting a UD palette. I hope it was a fluke.
So glad to see a palette that has colors. I have too many palettes already, but I think you can get some nice spring looks out of this one, if applied softly
It has a nice variety of colors!
I wasn’t going to buy this then decided I should since I don’t have the previous palettes some of these shades are in. Thanks for the update and reviews! Your site is one of my go to’s!
I remembered from your recent January post you said it would be available the 25th, so I set a reminder on my phone. Pathetic, aren’t I? But I missed the Marsala eye palette (which I really wanted quite badly) so I did’t want to miss this one. And I was home in bed sick anyway. 😛
I started checking around 11:40pm, and at 11:45 it showed in the drop down menu by typing in Vice, but not on the search results page or under the Urban Decay section of the website (weird.) As I was up anyway (coughing) and curious, I checked around 1 am and I don’t think it was showing up yet except for in that drop down search menu.
I am very sorry that certain countries cannot get it; it’s very unfair.
Thank you for letting us know about the re-release in advance Christine.
It is so annoying when brands release products that very few can get their hands on…. In Australia it is extremely difficult to get any UD products at all.
As for this palette – I think most of the colours are available through past products and are not really original.
Haven’t decided if I’ll get this one. I’m a longtime UD eyeshadow collector, so I have almost ALL of these shades from previous palettes.
