Guerlain Giulette Rouge G Lipstick (#63)
($45.00) is pretty much my biggest reason for wishing summer was a little closer right now! I originally expected to include this as part of the Spring Season, but obviously, it doesn’t fit that theme. It’s such a beautiful shade of bright pink with just a hint of coral with a golden sheen. It gives lips full-coverage, opaque color and a glossy sheen. Rouge Gs are always moisturizing and tend to look and feel really good on lips. (It is definitely one of the best formulas I’ve tried, though very pricey!) This is just one of those shades that I fell in love with as soon as I applied it to my lips. I was like, “OHH, PRETTY!” I can’t think of any great dupes at the moment — everything is too pink and doesn’t have the same hint of coral or golden sheen as this does — but I’d love to hear from others if they know of dupes!
Can you suggest a dupe? Looks kinda like MAC’s Red Full Stop from Trend F/W last year. But maybe not as neon??
Maybe like Lustering & a golden gloss on top.
omg…..this pink is absolutely PERFECT! Do you know of a close enough dupe to it that is affordable?
I haven’t found one that’s really like this… what makes this one so different is how it has this golden/coral sheen. Maybe by the end of the Spring Season I will, though!
I sure hope that this lippy is duped soon, cuz I love this color more than anything……it’s in my top two to one day get, next to new york apple!
It might be a little late, but it looks just like “Victorian” from MAC – one of my absolute favorites. It was repromoted with the Spring Color Forecast earlier this year.
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!! this is absolutely gorgeous! I am not sure it will suite my super fair skin/red hair, so I will have to try it on. Looks like my beloved Chanel Aqualumiere gloss in Candy Glow, only in lipstick form.
Coral undertone and pinks goes pretty well with my skin and I’m a fair redhead too 😉

That is gorgeous! I just wish their lipsticks were about 10-15 bucks cheaper but I guess you get what you pay for 😀 Stunning.

Can I ask why you give 4/5 for packaging though, as I think it’s the best lipstick design I’ve ever seen. Although it is very heavy to be fair.
I actually don’t love it or even like it that much. Storage wise, it’s a PITA – I can hardly read the label, and they all have to lay down (hard to stand-up). If you don’t keep it in the case, it gets pretty scratched up, AND it holds finger prints. I hate, hate finger prints, but I deal with it… but if I’m paying an extra $10-15 mostly for packaging (IMO!), I don’t want to see those nasty finger prints!!
The weight isn’t too bad, but I also don’t carry much makeup with me, so I don’t mind. I think it’s really the fingerprints part that annoys me. I’m also slightly annoyed by the fact that they don’t *come* with the velvet pouches unless you buy in-store and they give you one.
I can appreciate it for being different and luxe, which is why I don’t give it 5/5. It’s hard to get perfect anything – if it’s okay/good packaging, you’ll probably see me give it a 4/5. I have to LOVE it for a full 5/5.
Yeah, I see what you mean. I still think it’s pretty cool, and I don’t mind the fingerprints, but it is so heavy. Although I mostly have testers (only have 4 “proper” ones) and with them you don’t get the fancy packaging and that is how they only cost me £7.50 (instead of £25!) incl. postage on eBay. I don’t care THAT much about the packaging. 🙂

LOl, what’s with the fingerprints? I don’t think I have noticed them before, now you are going to make me seem them everywhere. I don’t know how they could remedy that, even 24K gold can hold prints. 😀
I know, I know! But it drives me batty sometimes. It’s not even gold, so c’mon… fake it and make it fingerprint proof, LOL. It’s a problem on a lot of packaging, so since it has a tendency to look a little grimy… can’t love it 100%. Like NARS, though no fingerprints, all the powder just sticks to the packaging!
I hear you on the NARS, I have to clean up the NARS stash with those Windex Wipes pretty often.
I think MAC packaging may be one of my favorites, just because it doesn’t hold finger prints. Except lately, when they’ve gotten fancy with packaging (dazzleglasses, slimshines!).
I think anything shiny will have heaps of fingerprints… maybe if they made the case a matte brushed silver finish instead! then it won’t look like a bullet…
That being said i HATE smashbox’s finish to their packaging, the one they use on their lipsticks, I had one in my handbag and all of the mattness just peeled right off!!
I totally agree with you on the packaging…it’s great in theory…but Guerlain is not even the first to make the mirror included design. Lola cosmetics did it years ago in a much more lightweight version. Also, the mirror on my G lipsticks are a little distorted! I wish they were gold, not silver, like the 2 de Guerlain mascara and all the new compacts…So strange to me that they do not match!! But I love Giuliette and Gems. They are some of my favorite lipstick colors.

I think so 🙂 I think it might be a shade you may have to work with to complement with the rest of your makeup, but I definitely think it would look fantastic.
I love this color, and I can’t explain myself why because I’m not into coral shades. On this one I like the fact that has full coverage and I think that golden sheen makes the difference:)

I was given Rouge G in Giovanna for Christmas and I absolutely adore it! I’d like to build my collection, and this one certainly is beautiful, but a little too warm/coral for me. Do you know if there is another Rouge G shade that’s equally bold, but a bit cooler?

Speak Louder is a nice bright pink, but I don’t think it has the same golden/coral sheen. Similar, though 😀
This reminds me of Chanel RA Laques in Phoenix. at least how it looks on me. My lips are slightly more pigmented so it makes colours like this more intense.
I think the two shades are in the same family but more of cousins than twins.

Yes, I have this one – it is just as gorgeous as your pic. However, no pic does justice to the beautiful golden/coral sheen imparted to this pink lippie. It’s a MUST HAVE from Guerlain.

This is a beautiful color! I have not tried Guerlain lipsticks. I am a YSL lover and recently bought my first Shu Uemura a couple days age and am please with the Shu lipstick. I am pale and very blonde and typically coral does not look good on me. Any thoughts on how this beautiful color woudl present itself on my skintone and hair color?
I think this is definitely more of a pinky shade, so if you like bright pinks on you, this might be a good way to wear something that’s a little coral!

That color looks very nice on you but $45.00? You can by 3 MAC lippies for that at least. MAC Viva Glam V and MAC Lame lipsticks are both pink with gold shimmer, and their Creme de La Femme lippie is pink/lavender with gold shimmer.
I just bought this yesterday, along with three other Guerlain Le G’s from the spring line — way overpriced, but all too gorgeous to resist! I can’t wait for spring to wear them!

Hey Christine, I had a question. I’m warm-toned and I LOVE coral shades, but I can never find the right shade for me. As much as I love this color, I don’t know how it’ll look on me. In MAC, my studio fix shade is a C3. Do you know of any Dupes for this shade at MAC, Korres, or Lancome?
How does this color compares the the color Genial from chanel?
Genial is more orange, no real golden sheen like this one!
