Summer Makeup: Sunny Grass - Yellow, Chartreuse, and Green

Summer Makeup: Sunny Grass – Yellow, Chartreuse, and Green

Here’s a fun look for all the green lovers out there!

Oh, you say Lucky Green is not permament? Well, let me fill you in on a little something MAC has slipped under the radar this season… On January 15th, MAC Freestanding stores will have Lucky Green… permanently. Oh, yeah! (I actually have a fairly decent amount of pan showing on my Lucky Green, love it so!)

Along with Lucky Green, PRO shades such as Atlantic Blue and a few additional shades will all be added the permanent eyeshadow range at freestanding stores. I don’t have much more information, but you can expect me to be at MAC first thing on the 15th to purchase one of each! 🙂 From what readers and artists have told me, all MAC counters will get these shades in, but counters will only have them available until their stock runs out.  It’s pretty much the equivalent of C-Shock in terms of shades — they’re bright, colorful pops of color.  I won’t be able to tell you anything about quality ’til Friday, sorry folks!

Here are the shades:

  • Winkle Mid-tone cornflower blue
  • Sunny Spot Light acid green yellow
  • Lucky Green Frosted mid-tone lime
  • Vibrant Grape Bright magenta violet
  • Free To Be Bright true coral
  • Atlantic Blue Bright violet blue
  • Red Brick Orange red
  • Goldenrod Bright marigold yellow

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the lid with the 249. With the 239 and water-based mixing medium (or water), apply Golden Olive pigment all over the lid portion. Using the 239, apply Bright Sunshine eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Lucky Green eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Bio Green eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Lightly blend Humid eyeshadow, with the 239, on the outer corner and lid. Next, define the crease by applying Bottle Green eyeshadow with the 226. Lightly tap and brush Bright Sunshine eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Nylon eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying #20L eyeliner on the lower waterline, Honey eyeliner on the lower lash line, and Sour Lemon eyeshadow lightly patted below the lower lash line with the 219 brush. Finish by applying Blacktrack fluidline on upper lash line and then sweeping lashes with Exceptionnel mascara.

For cheeks, apply Optimistic Orange cremeblend blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Caramel Kiss lipstick first, and then layer Champagne Pearl lipgloss for a complementing lip.

Love this look! It’s so nice and bright – perfect for dreary winter days! That’s so cool that some of the PRO shades will be available in Mac stores! Do you know if this is just the case in the US or will they also be available in the UK? Also, will they be available online as well or just in Mac stores?

Saira Avatar

I hope so! Just saw that you added shades that are being released, thanks for doing that :o) . Are there any shades in particular that you think are stand-out shades that are worth checking out? I have Vibrant Grape and love it (got it from Style Warriors collection) and am tempted by Free to Be, Atlantic Blue, Lucky Green and Winkle.

Just to let you know and any UK readers that the Mac Pop collection comes out in the UK on the 4th of February! I emailed an artist on the Mac site and she said it’ll be out next month. Can’t wait to check out Lucky Green and Atlantic Blue! I’m tempted by Free to Be too but I’m not too sure if it is too similar to Dear Cupcake. Will need to check it out next month.

Not my colours, but beautifully done nevertheless. 🙂 I’d probably do it without the yellow for a bit more subtle look. I have just ordered Olive Green pigment and will try to create a similar look when i get it. Thank you! Oh and btw, loving the lips and cheeks. 🙂

This makeup is really beautiful Christine 🙂 As I said before I’m not using green shades in my makeup routine but I like to see your posts with this color :). Green really looks good on you 🙂

So pretty! Also, I’m loving the cremeblend blushes. I hope MAC launches more colours. I’d love to see some plums, shimmers, nudes, etc.

So fresh! And the lips are perfect with the eyes. It is in green that you are at you’re MOST beautiful, you know. It’s quite obvious that this is what you prefer to wear. With that make-up, if I was a guy, I’d marry you on the go. 😉

(PS-I’d like to see some make up pics of yours with free hair, without diadem – even if your hair goes on your face – that’d be cool with a wild oriented make-up)

I love how the gloss and lipstick looks on you. It is blended so well, to be honest sometimes it looks a little goopy 🙂

I wish I could wear bright colours in the way you apply them, it just doesn’t look right on me.

Wow, that’s a really cute look! Makes your eyes look huge! 🙂 Thanks for sharing these looks with us, it’s always cool to see what you come up with!

Ok, primer talk!

I think I’m allergic to UDPP b/c my eyes water shortly after applying it. Plus the next day, my eyelids are cracked and dry! Sigh. It’s definitely not my MAC makeup b/c I used to use it w/out primer and it was fine. I’m trying Bare Escentual’s prime time right now and it’s doing well. I have painterly paint pot and I think I like that the best but I keep hearing that it’ll crease after time. What are your thoughts on MAC paint pots as bases? Everytime you put up an eye look, I see that you use paint pots instead of UDPP or Too Faced Shadow Ins, etc.

HC Avatar

My friend had a tube of TFSI and when she squeezed it out, it definitely separated like oil and water! I think my Bare Escentuals prime time creased on me on NYE but I think I’m in denial because its a primer that I’m not allergic to!

aradhana Avatar

sometimes mac paint pots / paints will crease if too much product is used, so it might take a bit of experimenting to figure out the right amount for your skin.

i like TFSI the most as a base, and since its so sheer i use it even if i’m using a paint pot, shadestick or whatever.

Christine, I was prowling Mac a second ago, as always and noticed new shadows and I was like WHAAAAAA?! I rushed here right away for swatches! LOL I don’t care, I’m ordering them now, anyway.

Christine….what GREAT news!!! I’m all about the GREENS this spring….and how perfect….I may need to pick it up with the Spring Colour Forcast collection next month.

I love this eye look, btw……I’d have to test out the yellow and chartreuse colors against my skin tone…..OH, to have darker skin….must tan this year!!

I’m on MAC’s website right now…if you go to the Pro Palette Eyeshadow refill section, you can find the 8 colors Christine mentioned including: Atlantic Blue, Red Brick, Lucky Green, Vibrant Grape, Winkle, Goldenrod, Sunny Spot, and Free To Be. Hope this is helpful!

Very pretty. I just can’t get myself to do brights very often.
On a funnier note I went and bought the Caramel Kiss l/s and of course I think it looks better on you. Of course maybe it’s the guilt I feel from falling off of the ‘no buy’ wagon. Hmmm whaddya think?

Bettina Avatar

*Like* I swear you and I must think similar thoughts Christine. I just went out in green eyeshadow (rated r, one off and gorgeous gold to be exact)and then saw this post and said right on!

Catherine Avatar

OMG… I love this look so much, Christine! I love greens and I love the way you used Sunshine and Sour Lemon!! I might have to get myself to a freestanding store and make my own greens quad…

Dusty Avatar

It’s very pretty – It LOOKS like Electric Eel in the pan – But with more shimmer to it. It goes on with less terquoise than Electric Eel. More of a true blue. It’s very pretty. I ration it out though, cause I only have the one 🙂

Christine Avatar

Sorry, it causes my eyes to swell up so I really can’t do it often – if I do it in a look, I take it off immediately so my eyes are only red and not swollen. :/ I’m sorry I don’t look good without it, I guess… it’s just too painful to endure most of the time.
