IT Cosmetics Magical in Mauve Vitality Cheek Stain ($24.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a rich, brightened, berry-purple with cool undertones and a soft, frosted finish. Kevyn Aucoin Neolita (P, $37.00) is warmer. MAC Hot Nights (LE, $21.00) is similar. NARS Oasis (P, $29.00) is more muted, warmer. MAC Restores Dazzle (LE, $21.00) is a cream product. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

It’s intensely pigmented–a little goes such a long way! If you prefer a very foolproof blush, you might look elsewhere, as this requires a very feathery touch to control just how much gets applied. The powder itself has a soft, buttery, and silky consistency, so it is easy to blend out on the skin and diffuse for softer color. It’ll be a nice option for anyone who prefers a more pigmented blush that doesn’t require building to get true-to-pan color. As the blush gets blended and buffed onto the skin, it looks more luminous than shimmery with a light glow and a distinctive “stained” look, even though it is a powder. This shade wore well for ten hours before fading slightly along the edges.

Whoa, this is pigmented! I will have to check this one out, in a pink color, because blushes (even the long-wearing ones) have a habit of disappearing on my cheeks, but this one looks like it will stick around. On a side note, can you answer my question about the Burberry Nude Radiance Luminous Fluid – does it have any fragrance?

Christine Avatar

Hey Katherine,

I’m still getting an answer on the Burberry – that is why it is pending, because I haven’t had a moment to double check that for you yet. I should add that I’ve had a stuffed nose for the past few days, and I didn’t note any scent originally so I haven’t felt like I could give you a great answer based on my current lack of smelling ability 🙂

Ok, thanks! No worries, just let me know when you get the answer. I’m recovering from a cold, so I know all about stuffed noses…..hope your nose gets better soon. Thanks again

I love the shade (and it’s so pretty on you), but in all honesty I am a little intimidated by very pigmented blushes! Do you use a fan brush for something like this, Christine?

Gillian Avatar

I love the colour of this but I think I’d have to be extremely careful applying this to avoid looking like a clown! I appreciate sheerer blushes simply because I don’t need to worry so much about going overboard. I love having such pale skin though so I can’t complain :P.

“MAGICAL” is the perfect name for this. What a stunning, amazing and gorgeous shade! And it is uncommon as well. My collection will be enriched by it.

Sylirael Avatar

Oof. This is stunning! O_o

It even get bonus points for its colour having something to do with mauve, LOL! For some reason when I saw the swatch, the first thing I thought was ‘this is a blush match for Revlon Icy Violet lipstick’. I actually have no idea if this is the case, but it really reminded me of that lipstick for some reason.

Rambling aside – it’s beautiful on you! And we all know how I like me some pigmented blush…

I’m quite fair and I have another rosier shade of this blush. The first time I applied it, it was WAY too but the second time I used a lighter hand and shook off the extra blush from my brush before applying and it was much better for my skin tone.

Need a suqqu cheek brush for this. When I bought my first Clinique brush, there was .4 oz of product. The amount gets smaller and smaller each year.

Meg Avatar

Oh this is really pretty! I told myself no more blush unless it was unique:) I think this counts! I was looking into their other shades, too. Do you think the Pretty in Peony you reviewed this spring would be a close dupe for MAC Supercontinental? I’ve been looking for a dupe of that shade for forever! Online, it looks like there’s a little more hot pink in the Peony?

Alison Avatar

Love this on you. And I have Neolita so will probably not get it. But this is the right blush complement for a whole range of berry — burgundy– wine lip pies.

Allison Avatar

Wow, what a beautiful shade! Definitely too dark/intense for me, but lovely all the same. I’ll bet I would love some of the other shades (there must be other shades), but I better not look ‘coz I just placed my IT Cosmetics order. I bought more of their fab CC cream and I finally bought a couple of their so soft brushes.

This might be a common question but is there a way I can see just the “temptalia recommends” products? For the first time I did use the products tab and select the specific products, that was incredible!! Such an amazing feature! 43 pages of highlighters lol!!

LibraTine Avatar

This is beautiful, but I don’t think my touch is light enough to make it work, lol. That’s why I prefer lighter, “impossible-to-overdo” shades like Orgasm, Ilamasqua Katie, MAC Tea Pink and Easy Manner, etc.
I have the Natural Beauty eye palette and Bye Bye Pores finishing powder from It Cosmetics; I really love them, and they get a lot of use. I’m anxious to try some of their other products, just wish this product came in a lighter color. 🙂
PS. Thank you SOO much for using my question; I can’t wait to try out some tips today! <3
