Kat Von D Lovecraft Studded Kiss Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “matte mauve pink nude.” It’s a muted, medium rosy pink with subtle warm undertones and an ultra-matte finish. NARS Vanessa (P, $32.00) is glossier, slightly warmer. NARS Anna (P, $32.00) is cooler-toned, glossier. NARS Sex Machine (P, $25.00) is warmer. MAC Till Tomorrow (DC, $18.00) is glossier, darker, cooler-toned. MAC Mehr (P, $16.00) is a touch warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

This shade wore a lot like L’Ecole des Femmes. The texture wasn’t really creamy, but it was pliable enough that I was able to get an even layer of color out of it with some tugging but at least the color went on evenly. It had nearly opaque color coverage, and the color lasted for seven hours. I found it lightly drying over time, though it looks drier and feels clingy enough that I was surprised it wasn’t more drying. It doesn’t last the 10-hours as claimed, but it is longer-wearing the most shades in this type of a hue. It does wear away somewhat unevenly from the center first. This is the last shade in the range I bought to review, so expect a round-up soon!

I thought this looked just beautiful, color-wise, but the texture leaves something to be desired. Thankfully I have Mehr and Sex Machine, so this is definitely not a must have. Thanks for saving me some money! 😉

Wow, I absolutely love this color and it looks fabulous on you. It’s almost impossible for me to wear pale pinks or even pale mauves. I’m so fair that I always pull out either the warm tones or the cool tones, and I end up looking like Barbie either way. I just want them to look neutral but they never do!

I do have better luck with mattes or lip liners, because of the finish I think. A full coverage, emollient lipstick can be more saturated in color, and I need something muted. But, for an every day mlbb, I’d prefer a more moisturizing formula. Maybe I will try Mehr–is it not quite as matte and dry?

This is close enough to Lolita (the original formula) that I can easily pass. I love this type of shade, and I wanted this for the name as well, but…

This photo of you…and the color looks smashing, reminds me of the old days, when people would pair an obviously cheapo l/s with gorgeous, expensive face products. Your flawless face just accentuates how dreadful the l/s is! Readers will be thrilled that you provided quality dupes. Echoing all the previous KVD reformulation comments: it wasn’t broken…why did they fix it?

Hmmm looks a bit dry on your lips….speaking of which I bet there was some fist pumping going on at the thought of this being the last one you had to review from basically a poor collection – quality wise! I’ve not seen so many F’s in one collection, like, ever. How many tubes of Jack blacks did you go through to keep your lips moisturised whilst reviewing these lipsticks?!

That’s a lovely pink. At least the coverage was good. Not stunning enough to pay $21 for, though, IMO. I think a dupe is the way to go.

Fron a distance, in the full face shot, it’s actually a really nice matte medium pale pink on you! It’s such a shame about the dry finish up close, and the ‘meh’ performance.

I think I’m going to have to read that roundup through my fingers, LOL! I will probably just get Poe (someday when it’s back in stock) and pretend the rest of the line doesn’t exist 😉

I think I must check out MAC Mehr as I really like this colour. I think it appeals to me more as it is matte. I’ll probably look quite dead, but I must try.

I have Lovecraft in their previous, original incarnation and I HATE the formula. It is very waxy feeling. I was hoping this version would perform better but seeing the trend of the previous shades my hopes weren’t up. I’ll definitely have to look at the dupes because I love this shade – and name! Oh well.
