Round-up: MAC Artificially Wild Collection Overview & Thoughts

MAC Artificially Wild Collection
MAC Artificially Wild Collection

MAC Artificially Wild Collection launches online on August 28th and on counters/in-stores on September 4th. It’s a limited edition set of shades that sees the limited return of some 90s favorites from the past. These shades are more unique than a lot of the other colors we see in MAC collections, but some of them may feel harder to wear than others. I think they’ll be nice to incorporate with other products you already own, though they do work together.

Now that I’ve seen your reviews I’m not as excited about this as I thought I would be. I think I’ll concentrate on A Novel Romance and give this one a pass.

I can’t afford everything. With Novel, Brooke, Simpsons coming out and then the Victorian colkection.
Christine, need your advice. I don’t like The Simpsons. I have all those colors. Will the Simpson’s be collectors items? Will they be worth more money someday? I was only going to get it because of that .

Initially, I wasn’t all that interested in this collection but I think I am liking the natural earthy tones of the shadows and blush. My question is-is the Taupe blush the same Taupe blush they have in the pan at the Pro store (I don’t mean the Taupe Shaping powder)? Anyone know? Thanks.

Thanks, Christine. I see the website no longer lists Taupe blush in pan as an option. I was considering buying this about a month ago so I wonder if some Pro stores still have it on pan for those who want it for palettes? It’s worth checking into. I know my Dallas store had it not long ago.

I really loved this collection and MAC hasn’t spoke to me in YEARS!

I think this is a true artist collection that is the antithesis of what the makeup world has been showing for the last few years. I have been officially tired of the 80’s redux that’s been happening and I needed something new to play with. There is some fabulous Nostalgia in this collection and there is development, for example Marsh and artificial earth are a take on NARS Earth Angel duo and Natural Wilderness and Stony are a modern nude that will make blue or grey eyes sing. Also the natural contouring with the blushes is lovely.

MAC truly translated the feel of many F/W 2014 collections into ‘Artificially Wild’
I’ll pick up everything but the lipglass, CCB and the Next to skin blush hasn’t a place on my
complexion. Thanks for the great swatching as always.

I think the items that struck me most from this collection were the Icon lipstick and the Taupe blush! I admit, I may have to actually go as far as swatching that taupe blush when this collection eventually surfaces here (we’re on Sharon and Kelly Osborne at the moment, LOL!), because it’s very rare that a brand manages to combine cool taupe and a hint of pink in a way that looks like it might be contourable for us vampires!

I really had to change my mind when it came to this collection. At first I disliked everything about it, now I really like and even love parts of it.
Not sure what i’ll end up buying, if anything, as one never knows if the collections will make it here. I’m not checking the MAC counter weekly, maybe I should.

I sometimes go up to makeup counters, not just the MAC one to ask if/when a new product, LE or whatever it might be will arrive. At MAC the usually, but not always knows what I’m talking about at other counters they may not even have heard about it, looking at me like I’m a crazy person. They might be right about that, actually 😀

I like the blushes and the explicit Lipglass, and the Icon and Shitake lipsticks. A lot of these colors will only look good on someone with autumn coloring, IMO. I’ve never seen a collection like this, so major points for creativity.

Curious about MAC CCBs in general. Does this tend to be a problem product for MAC, or is it a fluke that these 2 colors, so opposite, both were duds?
