Urban Decay Gunmetal Glitter Eyeliner Review, Photos, Swatches
Urban Decay Gunmetal Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner
Urban Decay Gunmetal Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner ($19.00 for 0.25 fl. oz.) is described as a “black with black and silver sparkle.” It’s a mix of black and silver glitter suspended on a clear base. Tarina Tarantino Black Diamond (P, $16.00) has more black in it. NARS 47th Street (LE, $24.00) is a pencil eyeliner with a black base. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Urban Decay’s Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner formula is described as a “water-based, buildable formula [that] contains super-fine glitter in a clear base that dries down quickly and stays put.” It had decent color coverage, though it was buildable to semi-opaque coverage — anything more and it was three or four layers and started to actually feel heavy on the skin. The consistency is thin and watery, and it’s best applied in short strokes, which maximizes the payoff but also ensures more even distribution of the glitter. The majority of the glittery bits stayed in place over an eight-hour period, though there were a few stray ones here and there.

This looks AMAZING on your lower lash line, Christine! My mind is kind of blown! Now I’m inspired to pull out some of my glitter liners and experiment a bit. Seems like a look that’s a bit avant-garde but still fresh for summer!!
I always like glitter on the lower lash line, because there’s less chance of it falling into the eye (just make sure not to get it too close to the water line), since it doesn’t fall down from the upper lash line, you know?
I really like the concept of this eyeliner in terms of colour, although I wish it had a bit better payoff!
I wish they did colored bases instead of clear ones!
It does look nice, but 19 for glitter, I dont’ know… (I’m typing this as I watch Extreme Cheapskates hahaha)
It is pricey – and if you don’t use it often, it isn’t the best use of money!
This looks amazing. I remember the glitter liners fondly from when I first started collecting make up many moons ago. Thank you for another amazing review.
My pleasure, Dana!
I wish it had an A rating! I really like the glitter eyeliners from Sephora, they do the job for me!
I’ll have to try those!
A black glitter liner? SIGN ME UP!
It is very cool-looking!
I’m really digging how this looks on your lower lid!
Thanks 🙂
I love this eye look! Great decision to do the lower lash line.
Thanks, Valerie!
I’m afraid this would just look like a smudge of dirt, but it looks reeeally cool.. crap, I was hoping I’d be able to resist the Pulp Fiction stuff
It totally doesn’t look like dirt, thankfully, lol!
Ahh, I can imagine this getting into my eyes and contacts! I like the look but just can’t get past that thought!
LOL! Owww!
You say this stays long wearing for you. I’ve had issues with glitter liners like peeling off after a few hours. So I’m gathering you didn’t experience this.
Nope, I didn’t have that problem!
Long time since I had a glitter liner. Might try one, but I hope to find something a bet cheaper as I wound’t use it as an everday, maybe not even every week thing.
Loved on the lower lid. Very pretty look, and still a bit edgy.
Maybe NYX has glitter eyeliners?
Lit glitters can be used as a liner!
I thought this would be the one thing I wouldn’t be even remotely tempted by, but it actually looks really interesting and I love how it works in your look! Damn, I really don’t want to spend that much for a bit of glitter….
Aw, thank you Helena!
I really liked the effect on ur eyes.. but yes I would better invest in something cheaper than this.. may be sephora shimmer liners.. 🙂
Thank you!
