Surratt Beauty Auréole Artistique Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
Surratt Beauty Auréole Artistique Blush
Surratt Beauty Auréole Artistique Blush ($32.00 for 0.20 oz.) is described as a “highlight” shade. It’s a very light, gold-shimmered ivory with a soft, frosted finish. Divergent Gleaming Pearl (LE) is warmer, more metallic. NARS Albatross (P, $29.00) is more golden, more shimmery–this is like a less intense version of Albatross. Kevyn Aucoin Candlelight (P, $44.00) is more beige. theBalm Mary Lou-manizer (P, $24.00) is warmer, more shimmery. NARS Debbie Harry Highlighter (LE, $29.00) is lighter. MAC In for a Treat (LE, $30.00) is less golden. MAC Too Chic (LE, $24.00) is similar. Illamasqua Aurora (P, $24.00) is a cream product. Giorgio Armani Moonlight Beige #1 (LE) is less shimmery, more beige. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
The powder is ridiculously soft, silky, and smooth–so much so that it almost feels like a cream texture, because it is never powdery and seems to bind very well. It had semi-opaque color coverage, though as a highlighter, one is more likely to apply it with a sheer to semi-sheer effect, which is easily done (you won’t feel like you have to use a featherlight touch with it). For medium or deeper skin tones, a sheer application seems to work best or else the lighter base can look a bit ashy when it gets built up. The shimmer translates to a luminous, glowing finish that doesn’t look frosted or metallic, and as a result, it doesn’t emphasize pores or the skin’s imperfections. Instead, the finish makes skin look radiant and illuminated. On me, the highlighter wears well for almost eight hours before starting to show signs of fading.

Tone wise, this would be a fairly good highlight choice for my skin. Again, as in the blushes from this brand, I am admiring the subtle texture of the product. However, always a sucker for this type of product, I have had to make a mental note to firmly resolve myself to not buying powder highlight..not a single one.. anymore. Sigh. While liquid is a bit more finicky for application, I like the results infinitely better and I found my HG with a custom blend.
What is your custom blend or where did you go to find it if it was created by a blending brand?
I mix two together in relatively equal parts. Becca Moonstone (so many golden HL’s which are too warm and too dark for my skin. This one is ultra pale gold) and Rouge Bunny Rouge Sea of Tranquility (similar with pearl pink to Benefit High Beam).
Ahhh! Sounds like a pretty mix!
That sounds so beautiful – I’ll bet that combo would be absolutely perfect for me too. This texture and application of Surratt Beauty’s sounds divine, but is too golden for my complexion.
The glow is very subtle but beautiful! It didn’t look like much swatched but it looks lovely on you.
Thanks Fancie!
Oh, this is pretty! I’ve always loved Albatross but it can look a bit intense at times.
Exactly how I feel about Albatross’
Looks so pretty on you! I loved my Lou-Manizer so much until it fell off the shelf and broke lol. I picked up the largest piece very quickly and saved it haha, but I think its time I invested in (yet) another one. How does this compare to the BareMinerals Ready Luminizers in texture Christine?
Softer and creamier–not quite as dense!
I’ve broken some of my favorite stuff, but did you know you can put the pieces back in the pan and pour in rubbing alcohol and compress it back? It’s not as good as new like before it broke, but at least you don’t have to trash the entire product. Once the alcohol dries, the stuff is back in usable condition again.
It looks beautiful!
Agreed!
This looks gorgeous, I also love the look of the packaging!
Glad to hear it, Mia!
Well, it sure is pretty to look at! Not sure if it’s the right blush for me though. I kinda doubt it.
Aww, that’s too bad! I hope they add a few more highlighter shades,
Ooh, pretty!! I really* want to get my swatchy fingers on some of their stuff!! 😀 i like how it isn’t too frosty, although it’s a shame it goes the ashy route – i wouldn’t have expected that!
I love the finish/shimmer level as well!
The packaging is so minimal, I like that!
It is that!
I like it!
Yay!
I don’t think I will ever need to buy highlighters as I have a good stock of it but I guess this is what a natural “glow” is.. it looks amazing on you Christine! That picture is making me find fault in my current stash and somehow get hold of this! oops! 🙂
Aww, thanks, Divya! If you have any white gold-ish highlighter, you’re probably okay! It’s nice, but it is dupable!
This highlighter looks amazing on you, Christine! I have too many highlighters as is but this one looks almost too beautiful to pass up.
Thank you, Carolyn!
I caved in and purchased Aureole just now! It was too tempting to pass up :).
Can’t wait for you to try it Hope you love!
I like how subtle these are, but it definitely makes an impact. lit from within glow and all that.
Yes! The finish is really lovely with this shade.
So jealous.
Bought the bright pink one n want to use it but now can’t find where I stored it.
That shows how many hiding places I put my makeup.
The texture of his blushes are Devine.
Hope you can locate it! I thought of you when I was trying the range initially, because it had a texture that reminded me of Japanese brands.
Yay!! I’m so glad you are reviewing Surratt products, I can’t wait for you to try out more of their products! luv your blog so much
Thanks so much!
I’m going to seriously think about this especially with the description that it’s like a more subtle version of NARS Albatross. I never reach for highlighter unless it’s for a special occasion or going somewhere at night–and even this is becoming more rare unless I travel–and Christine, you mentioned that it’s not very travel friendly.
They’re really designed to be put into palettes, whether Surratt’s or another brand’s, so if you have an empty palette to put it in, you’d be fine. On its own, not so much!
It’s pretty but the shade name makes me think of areolas. Why is everything in French?!
LOL! Ahh, yes, I had the same reaction.
Beauuutiful, and it seems to have the perfect texture, as you described it. It looks like the perfect highlighter, but isn’t it a bit too small? (I’m talking like I ever finished a blush, which I didn’t 🙂 )
The texture is fantastic! This contains more product than MAC, NARS, etc. for blush, actually.
I really like the look of this product. Seems like the perfect mix of the KA and NARS while bringing a little somethin’ extra to it.
I can see it being a sort of mix!
I love this highlighter on you, Christine! Absolutely beautiful.
Thank you, Helene!
