MAC Ocean City Blush Ombre Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC Ocean City Blush Ombre ($30.00 for 0.49 oz.) is described as a “coral orange ombre into beige.” It’s a medium-dark orange with warm, red undertones and a satin-matte finish. NARS Exumas (P, $39.00) is lighter, cream. Make Up For Ever #420 HD Blush (P, $26.00) is more muted, cream. MAC Passion for Colour (LE, $20.00) is lighter, pinker. Chanel Presage (62) (LE, $38.00) is a touch lighter, cream. theBalm Swiss Dot (P, $22.00) is similar–slightly more matte. NYX Cinnamon (P, $5.00) is also similar. NARS Gilda (P, $29.00) is similar. MAC Early Morning (LE, $25.00) is redder. MAC Fiery Impact (LE, $25.00) is darker, more shimmery. Chanel Frivole (P, $43.00) is less red. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

The texture was fairly soft and finely-milled, and the color payoff was moderately pigmented. The color payoff was more buildable than intense, so it will show up on deeper skin tones but can be easily applied for a softer look if you are fairer. Though I tried to play with the “ombre effect,” the color always seemed to be quite orange-red. It was easy to apply, blended well and looked even on the skin, while the color lasted for almost eight hours on me.

P.S. — Readers are reporting that they received the opposite blush than they ordered. I ordered one of each, and I received one of each, but it’s hard to say if they were technically “switched” when packed.

Gorgeous colour on you Christine! It seems like no matter the sade, all blushers suit you well – how lucky! I will pass on this, though; I already have enough blushers in this shade and the ombre effect seems to be more of a packaging gimmick rather than having a real effect on the product… :/

Even though it’s got beige as the other end of the gradient, I had hopes it would be even slightly similar to Ripe Peach from Colour Forecast… 🙁 🙁 🙁

Also, is it really that close to Cinnamon? I’m going to stare at the dupes for a good ten minutes. JEEZ!!!

As always, your comparison swatches are so invaluable.. I have this territory covered in cream and powder format.. 😀 Ombre effect is pretty in the pan and always draws my eye in.

The blush looks stunning on you and the Dior Magique on the lips wow! Wat is your rating on the lip product? Everything i see on you is always so beautyful that i have to have it ;-).

As always, keep up the good work! Greetings from the Netherlands xxx

I love the BLUSH OMBRE texture from first release so much. I wish MAC would make it permanent. Can you tell me if this is the same texture? Can you remember maybe? I think it was comparable with BLACK HONEY as well and quite similar to ESTEE LAUDER new one.

Unfortunately this was an department store exclusive in Germany and I think it wasn’t available online, Such a pitty. I would really like to have both but I the last thing I do is pay 1 cent more than retails on eBay. Won’t support that practice 😛

Call the number and tell them if u haven’t already. I ordered hoop lipglass and was sent glam, they told me to keep it and also gave me a full refund and an apology letter.

They should’ve known this one would’ve been the most hyped up one, I.E., more stock needed!

Not what I expected. It’s a bright color for my complexion, maybe it would be a fun color for a summer tan. I also have MUFE HD #420. I was a bit sad at first that i didn’t get my hands on this one.

My blush was switched as well–I ordered Sunset Beach but ONLY because the MAC site said they were sold out of Ocean City—I was pleasantly surprised to receive Ocean City yesterday. I didn’t even notice the name at first and was looking at the compact thinking that Sunset Beach was way more orange than it looked on the internet. lol. After seeing your review of Sunset Beach, I am extra glad for the mixup.

Love that they’ve done an ombre blush – nice to see something different instead of the usual formats! Have to say though I hate the words of PS on the packaging – the font looks really cheap :’)

Such beautiful packaging and product, but I’m just not sold on the color! There’s nothing really unique about it that’s standing out to me… Then again, most people do buy mac things like this JUST for the packaging lol Not sure I want to drop $30 on this.

Maybe it is my computer screen but it doesn’t appear that much of a gradient….no where near as pronounced as the Estee Lauder ombre I have, and darker, dirtier looking than the spring colour forecasts with the famous Ripe Peach. A bit disappointing:(

In regards to Mac shipping the wrong color I can say this happened to me … I ordered it when it launched on line within seconds and I was so excited to receive my package “I ordered 2 of ocean city by the way” so when I finally get my box 4 days later they were the pink blushes in ” sunset beach boy was I mad because all Mac stores around my area had sold out of the coral blush I contacted Mac they appologized and said I can keep them for the inconvenience and they would refund me … But I’m still out in my coral blush :((

Mac sent me the wrong blush too. Sent me sunset beach instead of ocean city, they will know 4/28 if they are getting more ocean city, if so they will send out the blush. Or credit my account. A huge mess

Im glad I got the beach city blush. I thought I had something similar but I went home and played makeup and I do not. its very pretty! in my opinion a staple blush.

Swatched it today in store and i think the ombre has some variation….the one in store e.g. had more of a 50/50 divide between the beige and the coral than the one on your pic…they also swatched destinctively different on my nw20 skin..allthough swirled together the colour leaned strongly towards the coral shade! I decided not to get it in the end bcs it was too similar to other coral or beigy neutral blushes i already own
