MAC Olive Blend Studio Sculpt Shade & Line ($21.00 for 0.06 oz.) contains copper and olive green eyeshadows with an olive eyeliner. The Studio Sculpt Shade & Line Eyeshadows can be used wet “for a defined look with super-saturated colour” or dry for “medium buildable coverage.” This is one of the easier shades to use, because the two eyeshadow shades aren’t too powdery and yield the appropriate pigmentation for dry/wet applications, so they don’t feel overly fussy to use. The eyeliner shade is still a troublemaker, but it was easier to use than some of the others have been. Once on, they lasted for eight hours before starting to show signs of fading.

Olive Blend #1 is described as a “rich rose-gold.” It’s a muted, light-medium copper with a frosted, metallic finish. It was semi-sheer when applied dry with a lightly powdery texture, and it was more opaque when applied with a dampened brush and much smoother. theBalm #21 (P, $6.50) is slightly darker. Tarina Tarantino Amber (P) is darker. Too Faced Jingle All the Way Eyeshadow #7 (LE, $16.00) is darker, warmer. Too Faced Honey Honey (LE, $16.00) is more golden. MAC Creative Copper (P, $15.00) is yellower. Disney by Sephora All Aglow (LE) is lighter. Disney by Sephora Cosmic (LE) is similar. Urban Decay Penny Lane (LE, $18.00) is similar. Urban Decay Half Baked (P, $18.00) is brighter. bareMinerals Golden Iris (LE) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Olive Blend #2 is described as a “deep olive green.” It’s a medium-dark, warm-toned green-brown with a satin finish. It was semi-sheer applied dry, then semi-opaque applied with a dampened brush. The texture was still dry and stiff, but it was easier to work with compared to the majority of the other eyeliner shades in the range. I tried using it as an eyeliner as well as an eyeshadow. theBalm #42 (P, $6.50) is cooler-toned. Clarins Forest #1 (LE) is similar. theBalm Lead Zeppelin (P, $16.00) is more shimmery. Urban Decay Cobra (LE, $18.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Olive Blend #3 is described as a “dirty olive.” It’s a medium-dark, olive brown with a hint of green and gold shimmer. It was semi-sheer applied dry, and then very opaque when applied with a dampened brush. The texture was slightly powdery when used dry, but it was easier to apply when it was damp. Clarins Forest #1 (LE) is darker. theBalm D4 (LE, $16.00) is cooler-toned, less metallic. MAC Fiction (DC, $15.00) is darker. Dior Khaki Design #3 (P) is slightly darker. bareMinerals Spectacular (P) is more metallic. Inglot #419 (P, $6.00) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

This is one of the ones I was really hoping would be good – these are shades I really love – and at least it’s not as dismal as ones you’re previously reviewed, Christine. I might actually pick this one up, although I have Fiction, Forest, Half Baked, Inglot 419 and many of the other dupes (like I said, these really are the sorts of shades I love and gravitate toward). I do like the idea of all 3 products in one tidy package but not sure if I like the idea “enough”.
