Guerlain Gladys (78) Rouge G Lipstick ($51.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “vibrant fuchsia.” It’s a rich, medium-dark fuchsia-shimmered berry with cool undertones and a luminous sheen. The color payoff was incredibly intense and opaque–one pass is all you need–and the coverage was even and made lips look smoother. This shade wore well for six hours, and it left a noticeable stain behind, while still being hydrating and comfortable to wear. This is a new and permanent shade. Guerlain Rose Grenat (864) (LE, $51.00) is lighter, brighter, less shimmery. YSL Exquisite Plum (22) (P, $34.00) is darker. YSL Forbidden Burgundy (12) (P, $34.00) is darker. MAC Commotion (LE, $20.00) is sheerer, more muted. Urban Decay Venom (P, $22.00) is darker. Guerlain Gigi (P, $51.00) is less shimmery, brighter. Guerlain Champs-Elysees (P, $35.00) is brighter, more fuchsia. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Guerlain Galiane (15) Rouge G Lipstick ($51.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “nude beige.” It’s a light-medium beige with warm, peachy undertones and a creamy, lightly luminous, finish. This is the least glossy of the five new (and permanent!) Rouge Gs. The color coverage is full and opaque, while the texture is creamy, so the color applied evenly and smoothly. It wore well for five hours and was nicely hydrating during that time. MAC Woodrose (LE, $16.00) is much lighter. MAC Pure Pout (P, $22.00) is lighter. Maybelline Sin-a-mon (935) (P, $7.49) is browner, darker. MAC Japanese Maple (LE, $16.00) is cooler-toned. Bobbi Brown Uber Beige (P, $24.00) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Guerlain Gaetane (16) Rouge G Lipstick ($51.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “deep brown.” It’s a slightly muted, medium-dark orange-brown with light copper micro-shimmer and a luminous sheen. It had mostly opaque pigmentation, but there was a little translucency with this shade that isn’t present with the other shades. The color wore well for almost six hours, though, and it was moisturizing and comfortable to wear. Revlon Sandstorm (LE, $7.99) is darker, less glossy. Maybelline Maple Kiss (925) (P, $7.49) is darker, less glossy. Milani Bronze Beauty (P, $5.49) is more shimmery, less glossy. MAC Who’s That Chick (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery, less glossy. MAC Sheer Seduction (LE, $16.00) is slightly more shimmery. Maybelline Mochachino (P, $7.49) is a touch darker, less glossy. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Authentic (P, $18.00) is darker, more metallic, more matte. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Gladys is so my thing~ Galiane is a totally perfect nude on you, Christine. The finish looks like the usual Rouge G amazingly clingy, but not too thick perfection. I’ve completely lost my mind on lipsticks this spring and this isn’t helping 😛

It’s Laura Mercier Golden Pink!

Just as a heads up, I try to post what I’m wearing at the end of the post, it’ll say this:

THE MAKEUP LOOK
On face: Guerlain Parure de Lumiere Foundation, Guerlain Les Voilettes Loose Powder, Laura Mercier Golden Pink.

Maybe we’ll get a selection of those shades come Fall. Let’s hope so, they need to create more Rouge G colors. You have turned me on to these lipsticks and I agree, they are also my favorite.

Your skin looks flawless! Absolutely gorgeous and the perfect canvas for those beautiful lipsticks! I’m loving the LM Golden Pink (which i assume is a blush?). Stunning!

Holy cow, all three of these are PERFECT!! Galiane is the most amazing nude I’ve seen in a long time, and Gaetane is so unexpected but GORGEOUS. I will definitely be checking out a couple of the drugstore dupes!

You rock all these shades very well! I am loving all three, especially Gladys and Gaetane. Galiane reminds me a bit of Galia and Gaetane a bit of Ginger (although Ginger is lighter, I suspect?). I love love love Rouge Gs, it is definitely one of the best formulas around! And I still can’t forget Geneva, in my opinion it is the most striking of all the new releases. Take all my money Guerlain!!!

I was so excited when Guerlain released a new selection of one of my all time favorite lipsticks–Rouge G. I bought Galiane, Geneva, and Géraldine and have been wearing them constantly. They are classic Rouge G in that they are long-lasting, moisturizing lipsticks with a satiny finish and dimensional color. One pass of the bullet let’s a bit of my natural rose lip color show through while two passes yield rich opaque color. I like that they can be worn as full on lip color or lightly blotted and worn with a bit of gloss to highlight. Rouge G fans will not be disappointed! This is a gorgeous collection.

Surprisingly, my favorite is Geneva. It looks like a bright medium orange in the tube, but one pass over my medium rose lips softens it and transforms it into a lovely blood orange shade which is how Guerlain actually describes it. When I saw it at the counter, I wasn’t sure how blood orange could possibly describe it, but when I applied it, it was a big ah-ha! Bonus points: It doesn’t make my teeth look dingy 🙂

Wow! That sort of colour, duochrome shimmer and fabulous shine is not the kind of thing I usually associate with the name Gladys, LOL! It’s beautiful, and a lovely colour hit for Gladyses everywhere 🙂

Funny thing…given what I’ve just posted about, that Galiane lipstick looks rather promising… 😉 I read somewhere on the site how you derived ‘Temptalia’, but I think the real reason was all of the *tempting* you do posting these wonderful products! 😉

Christine, Christine, Christine, what are you trying to do to me girl?? Dayum these Guerlain lipsticks!
I have 3 or 4 of these rouge g’s (not in the shades you’ve just reviewed but others) and i love ’em. My only criticism if theres going to be one is why can’t Guerlain find a space somewhere to put what shade it is on the container so we don’t have to hang onto the boxes: In a rash moment of clearing out my stash I actually got rid of my boxes so now, peabrain that I am, I have no clue what the shades are if I want to reorder. Dangflabbit.

I love shades like Galiane, but I wish more of them were cooler toned. These warm nudes just wash me out like nothing else. Gladys is gorgeous, though – nothing like a pretty fuschia to pretty up face! I whipped out one of mine the other day, then spent the rest of it wondering why I didn’t wear the color more often.

laetitia Avatar

are Gladys’s shimmers really visible? I don’t like shimmery lipsticks, but the color is really beautiful on your lips! I don’t really see shimmers in the swatches so I just wanted to know if your lips shine like a disco ball in reality! Thank you for your answer (and sorry for my english! ! And thank you for your work it’s amazing !) Xoxo from France
