Revlon Racy Rose (008) Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
Revlon Racy Rose (008) Blush
Revlon Racy Rose (008) Blush ($9.99 for 0.17 oz.) is a a warm-toned coral with a hint of pink and a frosted sheen. NARS Love (LE, $29.00) is more matte. MAC Lured to Love (LE, $25.00) is lighter. Tom Ford Beauty Frantic Pink (P, $55.00) is pinker. MAC Legendary (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery. MAC Born to Love (LE, $21.00) is similar. See comparison swatches.
I wish I could say I had much better luck with this shade over Haute Pink, but this shade had a lot of similar issues. The formula is described as an “ultra-soft, silky powder [that] adds a natural flush of color to your cheeks.” The color is “buildable” with a “soft satin finish.” In order to get any color payoff to really show on the skin, I had to scrape off layers of the powder, as it is very firmly packed into the pan. It’s incredibly stiff in the pan, so you need something that will dislodge the powder off the surface, like a rough/scratchy brush you don’t like much or, in my case, a metal spatula. The finish of Racy Rose is more frosted than Haute Pink, so I did have some trouble with the powder emphasizing pores. The color lasted for six and a half hours before showing signs of fading. The color range is really pretty and would be a nice alternative to high-end blushes, but the texture of the powder makes it difficult to use, both in terms of just getting color onto the skin as well as blending it out.

Hmm… well I like the glossy stain you are wearing and the earrings too!
Thank you! 🙂
It looks kind of like Nars Daydream to me, but maybe less shimmery? Daydream has been my go to blush since it was released.
I meant *more* shimmery. Woops.
I don’t think this one is like Daydream, but Haute Pink was similar – http://www.temptalia.com/revlon-haute-pink-002-blush-review-photos-swatches
I’ve been trying out more drugstore brands lately after having good luck with a few products. But overall I’ve been super disappointed. Is it just me or am I buying the wrong drugstore products? They seem to vary a lot more in quality…and not being able to try them on before is a huge negative. So much for bargains! Guess I’ll skip this blush….too bad…
There are still misses at the drugstore – they’re not all gems (just like high-end), so it just depends on the product!
This is a lot softer (in color, LOL) than it looks in the pan. Actually, they all look like they’d go on easily, but I guess it’s because of the finish. I had a similar issue with the highlighters from this range, but after a few uses, they’re much better, although I didn’t have to go so far as to scrape the top layers.
I thought it would be better after scraping off the top layer, but no luck so far.
Pretty!
If only it performed better!
I haven’t ever paid much attention to Revlon cheek products. But, this one looks lovely on you.
Thanks, Abby!
that looks more of a peach to me than a rose.
It’s definitely not that pink!
Oh, man — it really sucks that these new Revlon blushes are so poorly formulated. Their aesthetic is one of my favourites from the drugstore (sleek black lines, sharp corners), so I was really hoping to venture into drugstore blushes with them! 🙁
I was so excited and then so disappointed 🙁
I really don’t understand this at all. I thought they had reformulated these blushes after discontinuing the old ones, but now I’m wondering if they just repackaged the old ones and added some new colors in the old formula. The old ones were stiff and under-pigmented as well. Shame the Revlon powder blushes are so bad when the cream and gel ones are so nice!
I don’t remember trying the old ones (I might have, but I have no recollection of it!), so I can’t say, but they’re quite firm!
Aw, I am kind of sad to see it only got a C- 🙁 because the shade really is lovely.
Me too! 🙁
When I saw the title of this post:
*holds breath, clicks link*
…
*sees ‘metal spatula’*
…*sigh* 😛
I’m not as sad about this one, because the colour and finish aren’t as much my thing as the last one, but it’s still such a shame when a product flops like this 🙁 Especially when it starts happening across multiple shades!
Good thing I already had broken the glass case on it when I was doing all of these Revlon blushes, lol 😉
Quick question: is the problem with this one that the powder simply won’t come off onto the brush?
I only ask because poorly-pigmented blushes tend to work wonderfully for my paper-pale skin. There were so many complaints about the poor pigmentation of those Maybelline FIT blushes a few months back – but the medium pink turned out to be absolutely perfect for me. The low pigmentation meant that I could layer and blend with wild abandon, unafraid of giving myself clownface the moment I touched the brush to my skin. *g*
But if it’s just impossible to get anything out of the pan, this one’s a waste of shelf-space.
The only way I could get actual product onto the brush/skin was to scrape off layers of product to loosen it from the surface… or jab at it mercilessly with a really rough brush (and use something else to apply)!
What a bummer that it’s such a pain because the end result is lovely.
I know – it’s so pretty and yet ugh!
What a pity 🙁 I like the color a lot. The Tom Ford dupe looks really nice, too. hmmm,
I really wanted these to work out! I love when there’s an affordable alternative!
Looks pretty on you! Too bad you can’t get it on your brush easily.
Thanks, Denise!
This blush looks gorgeous, but the quality doesn’t sound too great.
I just bought this blush the other day, after seeing the display for the first time…and it’s nothing like what you’re describing . It’s not stiff or powdery, but it’s satin smooth and an amazing formula. I’d compare it to any high end blush. Also has better pigmentation than the swatch, maybe different batches?
