Zoya Chantal Nail Lacquer
Zoya Chantal Nail Lacquer

Zoya Chantal Nail Lacquer ($9.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “French vanilla cream.” It’s a warm-toned, light-medium beige with a cream finish. It was fully opaque after two coats, and though the first coat was a little streaky, the second coat applied evenly and made everything look smooth. The consistency was slightly thick. MAC Pep Pep Pep (LE, $16.00) is peachier. MAC Muscle Tone (LE, $16.00) is sheerer. MAC Myth (LE, $16.00) is darker. Rescue Beauty Lounge Medium White (LE, $20.00) is lighter. Zoya Cho (P, $9.00) is less warm-toned. See comparison swatches.

Rue Nail Lacquer ($9.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “boudoir blush cream.” It’s a light-medium, muted pink with subtle neutral-to-cool undertones and a cream finish. It was nicely opaque after two coats, and it applied evenly and smoothly. The consistency was just a wee bit thick. Zoya Brigitte (P, $9.00) is darker. Illamasqua Pink Raindrops (LE, $17.00) has sparkle. Rescue Beauty Lounge Plie (LE, $20.00) is similar. See comparison swatches.

Taylor Nail Lacquer ($9.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “light toffee cream.” It’s a light-medium beige with soft, warm undertones and a cream finish. It is not as warm-toned as compared to Chantal. It was mostly opaque after two coats, and the consistency was on the thicker side but did not pool along the edges. MAC Sandpiper (LE, $16.00) is sheerer. MAC Muscle Tone (LE, $16.00) is sheerer. MAC Hangin’ Loose (LE, $16.00) is also sheerer. Zoya Cho (P, $9.00) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches.

I typically get a week of wear out of Zoya’s formula with minor tip wear and no chipping.

I got Rue when Zoya had their 3 free promotion and it’s such a lovely “nude-ish” color. I’m glad you got the same positive experience. I was afraid it was going to look too much like a wedding polish color to wear every day, but thankfully I was wrong.

These all look beautiful, but I find that I can’t tell how pinks and nudes are going to look on me until I actually buy them and try them on. There are such subtle undertones – pink-leaning nudes, peach-leaning nudes, blue pinks, peachy pinks. And inevitably, some of them look sickly on my skin tone. It’s such a risk.

I was debating getting Rue when Zoya had the 3 free promotion but ended up going with Brigitte. Rue is very similar to OPI’s Tickle my France-y, which I already have. A nice collection, but the more nude colors tend to be too mannequin looking on me 😛

I really like all 6 (particularly Rue & Brigitte-they unleash my inner ballerina, LOL!), and if they were sold in stores, I’d likely buy all of them. However, because I have many nude polishes, I just can’t justify the effort of ordering online.

I live in a gated complex, and for some reason, noone can seem to get the call box to connect to the phone line. I have to have packages sent to a separate mail center, and going to *that* location is completely out of the way. I know in some areas UPS & FedEx deliveries fall into a steady window, but where I am now, it could be first thing in the morning, or last in the evening. My last address was steady, within an hour, and no locked front gate… I keep putting off a fairly huge NARS order, because I want to place only one order, and I was finally going to go for it, but Kawai os unavailable…

I think Zoya folds the majority of their releases into their general catalog. It’s one reason why they’re fun to order from when they’re having promotions–if you missed out on a release when it was new, you can dig deep and get it now.

So my all time favorite nail polish of all time is a simple NYC color called Mulberry Street. I have to layer on 3 coats but I just love the color. I’ve been trying to find a higher end dupe so I don’t have to apply so many layers to get the right color. Would you happen to know of any color that is perfectly pearl without being too pink or too white? These seem to be such similar colors 😀 I especially love Rue.

I haven’t tried on Rue yet but I’ll be applying it later today. I don’t think I could pull off the other 2 in this grouping but i think I picked the best ones out of this collection. Rue, Brigette, & Odette. My local Ulta sells Zoya but they don’t have any of these out of the collection and honestly their selection is lacking. They don’t have most of the colors that I have picked up from Zoya in the past year…no clue how many shades they have to offer but I have over 50 colors and I would say that Ulta doesn’t have at least 35 of those colors. Is that odd or is that pretty much how most Ulta’s are stocked?
