MAC Nocturnals/Tastitints Set
MAC Nocturnals/Tastitints Set ($32.50 for 4 x 0.27 fl. oz. or 1.08 fl. oz.) is a set of four Tastitint Lip Conditioners, and each has a different scent/flavor. On the lips, all four of them look exactly alike, and I don’t have really pigmented lips and normally can see some sort of tint across sheerer lip colors, but with these, they look virtually clear (not surprising, as they’re described as “barely-there.” They’re supposed to be hydrating lip balms with a glossier shine. The value of the kit is quite good, though as the set seems to have a value around $52 worth of Lip Balm (compared against Suntint pricing).
Mintessence is a milky white, but it is clear on lips. It has a mint scent and taste.
Sugared Vanilla is a peachy-orange, but again, it’s almost clear on lips–if I make a reach, it warms up lips slightly. It has a sweet, vanilla scent and taste.
Taste of Paradise is a coral-orange that looks virtually clear once applied. It has a fruit punch kind of scent and taste.
Dash of Lavender is a slightly cool-toned pink that is nearly colorless applied to lips. It had an herbal, very lightly sweetened, lavender scent with a sweet taste.
They have a gel-like consistency that’s very much like a lot of the lip balm tubes on the market. They each smell like their name (so not all of them are MAC’s traditional vanilla scent), and there seems to be a slightly similar taste that’s weaker in flavor than the product is in scent. I don’t really see the point of tinting these if the tint is so sheer that the tint doesn’t actually show up on the lips. I think it would be a more interesting set if there was a subtle, but noticeable, tint, otherwise it’s really just a variety of scents/flavors more than colors. The consistency is medium-weight, non-sticky, and slick. The finish is definitely shinier and glossier than the average lip balm. They last between one and two hours, so you may find yourself reapplying often. They’re hydrating while worn, with a little bit of lingering hydration, but I didn’t get long-lasting hydration.

Definitely not something I would buy. Too expensive for what it is.
The formula in general are just expensive lip blams.
sorry..it looks like a man’s …..fluid….lol!! Sorry christine ..:) its kinda true..not being gross guys! 🙂
annnnnnd now I’m NOT giving these to my nieces. I didnt even think of that, lol
Lol, you weren’t alone in that thought. When I saw that first one, that was my exact thought, too.
smelly jelly..no thanks.. not my thing
They look cute but wish they were anywhere near OCC Liptars.. definitely not something that I would like to invest in!! everything goes almost clear on lips!!
That’s the point. .. they’re just “tints”
The MAC Lip Mix which are pro products are close in terms of pigmentation but more of a gloss.
I’d be interested if they were available individually. I don’t need four, but wouldn’t mind trying one.
52$ for 4 clear lipbalms?! I sometimes wonder if you are sent all of that stuff just to review them or you really buy this??!
It’s $32.50, just to clarify, and the value of the kit is around $52. I was sent these, but had I not received, I would have purchased them (as I purchased all of Divine Night, Stroke of Midnight Kits, and the 3 pigment sets from this collection). There are plenty of people who purchase lip balms that are $20-50 in price (for one) – different strokes for different folks 🙂
I was just asking. Everybody decides by theirselves what they’re going to spend their money on, and that’s totally fine. I was just wondering… 🙂
I thought I answered your question. Let me know if I did not!
This doesn’t seem worth it, especially if all the shades look the same on the lips.
I saw these on the MAC website and before they were released and I was intrigued and wanted to try them, thats why I came here to see what they looked like and unfortunately they are how I thought – very very sheer! 🙁 I will be skipping this but definitely want one or two of the lipgloss sets x
Do these moisturize at all? I’m a lip balm junkie, so I don’t mind them not having colour.
I just can’t stand sticky balms, and would prefer to use something along the consistency of MAC lip conditioner.
They’re moderately moisturizing, but they go away so fast that they don’t seem to provide intense hydration – so they’re only hydrating while they last and maybe a half hour after.
The stocking-stuffer potential on these is pretty high…I have some nieces that’d go ape over some MAC balm 🙂
A subtle tint that does show up makes it worthwhile else it’s a set that one could break up for gifting only, keep one and give the rest away.
Even the name is so adorable!!
