Guerlain Champs Elysees Meteorites Perles Review, Photos, Swatches
Guerlain Champs Elysees Meteorites Perles
Guerlain Champs Elysees Meteorites Perles ($58.00 for 1.05 oz.) is supposed to “capture light to create a more luminous and even skin tone.” It does this through a combination of “beige, purple white, gold, and two pinks.” It’s a soft, pale pink with a dusting of white sparkle and a satin-matte finish. MAC Rosy Outlook and Chanel Star Dust are pale pink blushes but both are less highlighters than they are blushes. Guerlain Perles du Dragon is more luminous. Guerlain Perles de Nuit is also more luminous. In the tin, it did seem somewhat similar to Perles du Paradis, but I had almost no visible payoff, so it’s hard to say if they really are similar. See comparison swatches.
Surprisingly, when applied more heavily, it gave my cheeks a soft flush of pink (even on my medium complexion). Otherwise, it brightens and softens the skin in a very subtle, barely-there way as most Meteorites do. I feel like this is a product you either love or hate–you’ve had the Kool-Aid or you moved right along. If you’re looking for a traditional highlighter, you’re better off looking elsewhere as Meteorites, generally (including this one) are subtle. If you wear really, really matte foundation or set heavily with a matte powder, this is a product that breathes life back into the finish of the skin by giving it a natural luminosity that’s not shimmery or sparkly.
Champs Elysees is less luminous compared to recent limited edition iterations, but it still does add luminosity to the skin though just not enough to really live up to its description. It seemed to brighten more than other shades, and made me look more awake. It seems to wear well for eight and a half hours, and it doesn’t impair the wear of my foundation or blush in any way. Though Meteorites Perles are gorgeous in their tins, the effect (in my experience) doesn’t change too much from shade to shade, and I would imagine that the impact might be more noticeable on fairer complexions.

I was ready to fork over my money until I saw the side of the tin!
Aw, maybe next collection then!
I agree. I’m not fond of the design on the side of the tin, too. 🙁
I love the packaging though!
Me too! We are in the minority, though, LOL!
Yay for minority! 😀 I love the classy black lacquered packing but I also love the youthful, bright font. This might be my first Guerlain <3
I love the packaging! Going to hunt this down!
I love the luminosity of my Perles du Dragon so much! I like the brightening effect of this too…I can tell a difference in the photo. The packaging is different for Guerlain but adorable nonetheless. Initially I thought I’d skip this (I’m not a collector of these and in fact only own one) and get the terracotta glow powder. But after seeing swatches, I’m leaning the other way now. I’ll definitely check both out in person before deciding anyway.
Let me know what you end up getting!
I really really hate the packaging, but that doesn’t necessarily deter me from a product. However, I’m still completely smitten with my Hourglass finishing powders and haven’t touched any of my Meteorite Pearls since.
I always love when Guerlain does black lacquer/glossy packaging, but I know I am in the minority on this collection!
But yes, if you haven’t touched any of the Meteorite Pearls, probably not necessary to snag this one!
The packaging for this collection is perplexing. I have so many powders that have this finish, so I’ll pass.
You’re not alone – a lot of readers aren’t digging the packaging this year!
Does this have a fragrance? Does this smell like the Champs Elysees perfume? I LOVE that perfume and have not purchased any Meteorites yet – but this sounds like it would be a perfect first buy for me since I love the perfume so much.
Hi Kim!
Smells like the regular violets scent to me!
Cool – thank you. Going to order, clicking through your site of course!
Ooh, thank you for the support, Kim!! <3
well unless they reformulated champs elysees perfume, and based on christine’s info that this has the scent of guerlain’s regular violet scent, they do not smell the same. you might want to get the (now discontinued) guerlain perfume ‘meteorites’ for that meteorites scent fix. 😀
This is so pretty and looks great on you! I will definitely have to try this out as I am very fair so most blushes end up being way too colorful on me.
This may work perfectly for you, Sarah!
Oh! Also, are they called Crazy Pearls on Sephora’s site?
Duh. That’s what it says on the back side of the tin in your picture. Sorry, getting flustered because I want this!
No worries 🙂 It is confusing – because the tin says Crazy Pearls but the press release is “Crazy Champs Élysées Météorites Pearls.”
Looks very pretty on you. Not crazy about the packaging though. Still loving the Cruel Gardenia so I don’t really need this.
Glad you are still rockin’ Cruel Gardenia, Lorrie!
The packaging looks kind of cute but I don’t think it suits Guerlain’s usually very elegant image. Loving the meteorites though.
It is crazy (ha, ha) how divided the packaging has everyone!
This looks like a gorgeous product, but the packaging doesn’t excite me.
Aww – bummer that the packaging’s a miss for you!
It makes sense. In November they re-open their store on Champs Elysees… They have to make up for it. It looks kitch and Natalia is getting boring 🙁 I loved last christmas collection but this one is disappointing.
Sorry to hear that this didn’t do it for you, Cath! 🙁
Ahhh how I wish I had gotten Perles du Dragon last year, will regret it forever! Pink can be very brightening on some skintones but unfortunately it doesn’t work for me, so I’ll wait until next year and see what they come up with for the holiday collection 🙁
I like Guerlain’s black lacquer packaging, but it’s the bright colors here that give that cheap look to me. It looks like something that would appeal to the very young, definitely not what I’d expect from a high end brand like Guerlain that tends to have very sophisticated, elegant packaging and brand image.
Have you looked at the permanent line of Meteorites?
Interesting product!
It’s definitely very fun to look at!
i LOVE the packaging so much and i will def be getting this and some other items from this set!!! Usually there packaging is boring. Its artistic and i adore it
Yay! I hope you love the Crazy Pearls, Kristin!
I’m not at all into the packaging but always want the meteorites products!
What’s your fave Meteorites?
I love the package too! I have never tried one of these,
this one I would go for! Very nice 🙂
Yayy!! 🙂
Love your lipstick. Did you review it?
Not yet!
THE PACKAGING IS SO CUTE oh my god I know so many people hate it but it’s so tacky and playful and shiny! I really reaaalllly like the look of this collection.
Haha! So funny – I know many are saying it’s tacky, but it seems playful to me with the colors and the glossy black makes it more elegant. Ah, well, glossy black and hot pink have my name on it!
I love such packagingsss.. havent tried these crazy ballss. but I think the box will adore my vanity.. 🙂
I bet it would be nice on your vanity!
I love the tin, but I’m not sure if the pink tint is going to do me any favours… Tossing up wether to go to the trouble of ordering this from the US or just going to the shops and buying one of the permanent ones. I really want to drink the Meteorites Kool-aid 🙂
As pretty as they all are, I really don’t notice a major difference between the varieties, so I’m sure you’d be just fine with a permanent one!
I think the packaging is what attracts me! I like that they are doing some fun and not as conservative. Will buy!!
Fun! I hope you love the pearls!
Does anyone know how the Météorites compact compares to the pearls?
I haven’t seen the holiday compact version, but given how sheer/translucent the products are, what I can say is based on past pressed Meteorites (I have Wulong and Mythic), they would be more luminous and have less sparkle – more of a sheen than anything else. More “pigmented” in a sense.
Does that help at all?
Here’s a review on Mythic, which has similar coloring to the promo for the holiday compact – just the colors are more muted – http://www.temptalia.com/guerlain-mythic-meteorites-voyage-powder-review-photos-swatches
That’s great, thanks Christine!
Would you recommend these meteorites over the the permanent line? Which do you prefer?
I’d probably go with a permanent one if you wanted more luminosity!
Hi Christine,
So are we saying this is somewhere between the Permanent Meteorites and say, Perles du Dragon?
Yes! 🙂
Waiting for mine to arrive on monday! Im crazy for pink so i had to get one! I wanted the teracotta too but i cannot afford both!
Hope you love it, Ayen! 🙂
These look beautiful, but it seems a little strange that they are so pigmented. Meteorites don’t usually pull double duty as blush! I think I like the packaging, but will have to see it in person. What brush to use to apply meteorites? I have the teint rose perles and mythic pressed. I love them, but wonder if I can get more out of them by using a different/better brush.
Hi Beka,
As I mentioned in the review, when applied heavily and concentrated in one area, it turns a little pink on me 🙂 If you apply it normally, you get a much sheerer brightening effect like other Meteorites. I don’t think you’ll see any blushing out of Teint Rose or Mythic!
I am excited for this whole collection 🙂 My name is like Elysee and I was born in 68 … So I am feeling like this was a collection made for me 😉
I just purchased almost the entire collection online through Nordstrom, 2 of the lipsticks were not available. But when they are!!! ;D
Thank you for all the reviews and congratulations on your 7th anniversary!! 🙂
xoxo
Elysia
Thank you, Elysia!!
Enjoy the lipstick – it was definitely made for ya!
Hi Christine!
I’ve been hooked on your Guerlain posts lately so I went to the local Guerlain boutique here in Manila, and I was torn between the Météorites Voyage Powder in Mythic (didn’t get to try this cos they were out of testers) and the Météorites Perles in Teint Beige (tried this out and I loved it!). I ended up getting the Voyage powder even prior to testing, though, because I thought of holding out on my first Météorites Perles for the Champs Elysees Météorites Perles arriving here in 2 weeks (talk about late LOL).
What’s your opinion, do you think the Champs Elysees is worth waiting for or should I just go for the permanent Teint Beige? I’m kind of worried that the Champs Elysees might appear too “blushy” on me, instead of just plain “glowing and flawless” (like the Teint Beige did). :/ Also, is there even a noticeable difference in terms of appearance on skin between the Météorites Perles and the Voyage compact?
Sorry for bombarding you with questions! 🙁
Hi Erika!
I think you could go with the Teint Beige and be quite happy, especially then you won’t have to worry about it possibly turning too pink on you 🙂
The loose Perles are more sparkling – less luminous (like less of a sheen)!
Yay! The Teint Beige it is, then. And since there’s a difference.. there’s no issue with having both the Météorites Voyage compact and the loose Météorites Perles, right? 😆
Thank you so much for replying! 🙂
Nope, no issue 🙂
