Haul: Too Faced Semi Sweet. Found at TJ Maxx
Weekend Plans: I’m in the process of moving and rearranging stuff. I want to go to the farmer’s market
Favorite hot drink: Caramel Macchaitto (sp?)
I love the slipping paws! My dog does that, too
…sits on the carpet with his front paws on the slippery floor.
Haul: LORAC PRO Palette 4, MAC 266S brush, and Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner in Céladon. Also, I decided to give two products a try based on posts I read by two Temptalia members: Essence Satin Touch Blush in Satin Love (thanks, Nancy T) and NYX Worth the Hype Mascara (thanks, Rachel R). These arrived this afternoon, so I haven’t had a chance to try them yet. Plus, I bought backups of a couple of my favorite regular products that were on sale at Ulta: AG Firewall Flatiron Spray and NYX Proof It Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer.
Weekend Plans: Visiting family, just the usual.
Favorite Hot Drink: Regular latte, with no sweetener
I hope you like the mascara. Let me know what you think of it after you’ve tried it.
Mellan is such a cutie!
Haul: Tom Ford Iris Bronze set (Nordstrom Anniversary Sale)
Might haul in the future:
1. Terry Barber MAC palette because ‘MAC’ and ‘palette’ but restrained myself after realizing I had everything but 2 colors. I still might if it comes to the states, not sure. The $30 for shipping was a deterrent. I thought about getting some Suqqu and Zoeva brushes, but Selfridges didn’t have the soft-like-a-kittens-paw cheek brush and . . . I have enough damn brushes.
2. MAC Nordy Matte palette – I like the look of it but I’m sure I have dupes 2 times over. I’ll wait a bit and see how I feel. Wish their palettes overall had more satins in general – I don’t like going from shimmer to matte – satins are a much better transition for me.
3. MAC Pink Lip Trio – love the color of that matte pink lipstick but I don’t care for matte formulas and I need another lipstick like I need another hole in my head. I know I could add the gloss that came with it to ‘satin-ize’ it, but I don’t care for gloss all that much, either.
Weekend plans: The usual – laundry, cleaning, cooking for the week ahead and giving myself a Sunday manicure. I’ve gotten quite proficient with my nail art (stamping, dotting tools, sponging gradients) so this is something I look forward to every Sunday. We might go see Incredibles but I think I want to wait until midweek when there will be less people.
What’s your favorite hot drink?: At the moment it’s Jasmine green tea or dark roast coffee with coconut milk beverage (not the actual coconut milk with the fat layer in the can) and a teaspoon of xylitol crystals (made from birch, not corn thankyouverymuch) as sweetener.
Aw Mellan!!!! He looks so excited.
Haul:
Darling Girl (15% off with BINX15): Pressed Eye Shadow (Flirt, Funkadelic, Jinkies, Magic Mushroom, Best Day Ever – Limited Edition, Gamma Ray)
Macy’s (40% off): Nyx Professional Makeup Los Angeles Palette
RealHer (15% with BINX15): Matte Liquid Lipstick (I Am Fearless), Moisturizing Lipstick (I Am Fierce), Be Your Own Kind of Beauty Shadow Palette
Sephora: Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Amplifying Eye Primer, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder (Dim Light), Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick (Nude), Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Collection(Mood Exposure – mini, Ethereal Glow – full size), Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder (Euphoric – mini, Incandescent Light – mini), KVD Metal Crush Liquid Highlighter (Roseshock), Fenty Beauty Flyliner Longwear Liquid Eyeliner (GWP), Fresh Rose Face Mask and Floral Toner (GWP), Marajo 2 Piece (GWP), UD 24/7 Eyeliner in Zero and All Night Setting Spray (GWP)
Ulta: BECCA x Chrissy Teigen Glow Gloss (Beach Nectar), PUR 4 in 1 Lip Duo (Girl Crush), Catrice Rock Couture Liquid Liner (Bluelett for my Valentine), Platinum Perk PUR 4 Pc GWP (Full Size – Big Look Mascara, Chrome Glaze High-Shine Lip Glass in DIY, On Point Liquid Eyeliner in VIP, 2 Get A Grip Endurance Eyeshadow Primer Packettes, Cosmetic Bag)
Urban Decay: Lo-Fi Lip Mousse (Halo, Echo)
Weekend plans: My subdivision is doing a Community Yard Sale tomorrow and while I despise doing yard sales, I am going to put some items out (actually quite a lot). I think my daughter is coming over to sell some items too. Sunday I have a pedi scheduled. And Monday I took the day off – so counts as weekend! Not sure what else I may do but I’m sure a couple of dinners out will be happening.
What is your favorite hot drink?: Coffee.
Where did you see the Pur Platinum Perk? I can’t find it!
Now that’s what I call a “haul!” 🙂
Haul: Fenty Flyliner and Becca Guava Beach Tint. Still reeeeeally wanting Glossier Cloud Paints too though.
Weekend plans: Bastille Day celebrations at the French restaurant I work at. I’m not working the shift of the actual party, so I’m considering making an appearance so that I can catch my coworkers for a staff afterparty.
What is your favorite hot drink?: Regular drip coffee. I’m one of those people who is always drinking it. Yesterday I had a break in routine and didn’t have any, which resulted in a debilitating caffeine headache, so now I’m thinking I should try to dial it back. There’s no way of knowing how much I drink in an average day, but I figure if going without puts you on your back, it’s become a bit much.
Haul: Nothing this week, but I did go get a pedicure with my friend. I discovered that this little nail salon half a block from my apartment has 5 stars on Google and a perfect 10 rating on FB! I was pretty happy with my experience and my toes look great.
Weekend plans: Haven’t really solidified them. Partner wants poke and there’s none in our town so we have to decide where to go to get it. And I’ve got my online dance class Sun morning. Probably do some prep for our upcoming NY trip (in fact, this time next week we’ll be an hour from landing!).
Favorite hot drink: A good quality loose leaf tea. I’m fond of oolongs and pu’erhs for when I have time to really enjoy a cup or two, and I like flavored black teas for my weekday morning wake up, but in general I’ve rarely found a tea I didn’t like. (except chamomile)
I don’t like chamomile either – that aftertaste!
I love a good quality loose leaf tea myself and really dislike chamomile too.
Haul:
This week is all about my oldest granddaughter, who is turning 13. Our haul: 7 bras, 5 pair of shorts, three dresses, three shirts, and one broke grandma, lol.
I have been watching Puffin’s Wife for awhile now and I finally heard her mention her love for Linda Halberg’s 306 brush one too many times. Since the 306 was $24 and the entire basic set was $55, I decided to get the basic kit. These are synthetic brushes and I generally do not like synthetic brushes (I gave my big set of Zoeva brushes away, for example). I have been using them all week and yep, I still find it challenging to get excited about synthetic brushes. I do like the 306 for applying highlighter and imagine I will continue to use it for this purpose even after the “trial” period has ended. The 310 finishing brush works fine for applying powders, both setting and finishing, but there is no way I will choose it over my two Chikuhodo brushes that I already use for my powders. I do really like the 333 angled brush for applying dark shadow along my lower lash line. I didn’t think this brush would give me the precise and fine line I prefer, but it actually performs a bit better than the other brushes I’ve been using for this purpose. Do I think they’re worth $55? I’m not the right person to ask, as I’m not a fan of synthetic brushes. Do I regret purchasing them? No, I’m glad I purchased them and will continue to use the 306 and 333 every week, and will likely pick up the others on a less frequent basis.
I accidentally discovered something in my own stash this week. I generally purchase lip acne eyeliners that need to be sharpened because I like a fine tip. None of my sharpeners have been doing the trick and I was starting to think I was going to just have to throw some of my pencils away because they were just too difficult to sharpen. I remembered I had purchased a sharpener from NARS and set it aside. I absentmindedly started sharpening one of my liners, pulled it out expecting to see the usual broken tip, and was stunned to see my pencil come out with a finer tip than it had when I purchased it! So if you’re looking for a good liner sharpener, give the NARS one a go.
Weekend plans: Dual birthday party for my husband and granddaughter.
Favorite hot drink: My coffee (made with my beans ground fresh in my grinder, in my Chemex coffee maker, with the water just the right temperature and served with half n half). I’m not picky at all?
I can seriously understand the broke grandma bit! Happy birthday to both your husband and your eldest grand daughter. 13 years old – how they grow up so fast.
Toys R’Us Australia is closing down due to the issues with the parent US company, so I have been purchasing toys for our grand children for Christmas. I am getting a tad broke too.
Mellan tries to be a good boy….and succeeds! ???
Haul: Ordered Becca x Chrissy Teigan OG face palette and her Beach Nectar lip gloss. Went to Ulta to get liters of Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Lavender/ Mint Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner (very different!), Essence Midnight In Paris Gel Liner, plus a new angled liner brush to go with it, and a Tony Moly I’m Real Aloe Sheet Mask.
Weekend plans: A mountain of LAUNDRY! Other than that, just doing my nails and listening to Sunday’s meeting.
What is your favorite hot drink? Just about *anything* coffee! A major fave is a caramel macchiato latte. Or, a mocha latte! (and both taste great cold, too!)
I understand the mountain of laundry part – whenever I have my grandchildren over, there always seems to be stacks. At least with the hot weather you are experiencing, they will dry quickly on the line. The only good thing about summer for me.
Haul – persona Identity Palette, really like this, even though it’s not meant for my eye color. These eyeshadows are so smooth & pigmented, also MUF Artist Rouge Cream in C302, so pretty! And, L’Oréal Infallible paints metallics in Moon Lust, + a perfume, APOM femme.
Weekend plans – My husband turns 70 tomorrow. Having our sons & a couple of friends over.
Favorite hot drink – my Starbucks dark roast coffee.
Verona. One word, Verona. Much as I love all dark roasts, from Green Mt to Peet’s, Starbucks truly hits it. French, Italian, mmmmm…but true love is Verona. But I vowed never to get the coffee out habit, bec m/u won’t let me! I drip at home on the strong side, black, and carry with.
Happy birthday to your husband Janice and I hope he has a lovely day surrounded by his friends and family.
I really like that Persona Identity palette too.
Haul: I broke my “no US buys” (sorry, American friends but…) and broke down to buy the UD Beached palette. I do feel guilty but I knew I’d regret it when it was gone. Seeing the Colourpop palette that Christine just posted, I’m struck by how similar they look.
Weekend plans: Gym tomorrow and a bit of grocery shopping. Our younger son is coming in for a dentist appointment on Monday morning (he hasn’t switched dentists since moving) and will be coming in on Sunday or perhaps Saturday night so we’ll go for brunch or a nice lunch or dinner on Sunday. I’m also playing “driver/chauffeur” for a dear friend/neighbour who has given her car as a trade in on a new Audi that DH helped her find and get an amazing deal on. She won’t have the new car til Wednesday so my part in this is to be her wheels til her new wheels are ready to be picked up.
Favourite hot drink: it’s a toss up between a flat white and a really well made latte (just had one of those today at lunch).
You are a truly kind person Mariella to your friend and neighbour.
I think you would really use the Beached palette, I think it is much better than the Colour Pop one you are refering too and UD is an international company, although I do understand your sentiment.
Hopefully your son will not require too much dental work and will be able to have brunch/lunch or dinner with you.
My husband is a flat white coffee lover too.
I love UD’s Beached Palette!
Haul:
*Makeup Monsters — Dragon Child Palette
*Sub boxes from Apocalyptic Beauty and Darling Girl.
*Walmart — Pond’s makeup wipes; Physician’s Formula Eye Booster eyeliner pen and Organic Wear Mascara
Weekend plans: Still sorting through my mom’s stuff. Grocery shopping.
What is your favorite hot drink? Orange spice tea with honey
Very sorry.
Thank you, kjh.
It is so tough Rachel and it takes such a long time. I am thinking of you.
Thanks so much, Genevieve. I’m not really sad going through her stuff. There’s just a lot of it because she was a hoarder…with really awful taste. You’ve never seen so much gaudy costume jewelry in your life. lol
Seriously, though, I did find some pieces I remember from my childhood that I’m keeping to remind me of better times when I was little and she’d let me look at her jewelry and makeup. I found a couple vintage Avon lipsticks, too, which is pretty cool.
Haul: CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, the Real Techniques eye set (just the flat shader and blending brush), some new-to-me shorts (for me) and new sundresses/ rompers (for the baby). Also arriving, though purchased earlier: the 2018 Sephora Favorites sunscreen kit, Too Faced Sex on the Peach set (mascara, peach primer, peach spray, peach powder), ABH Aurora palette, Sol de Janeiro body spray, a few nail polishes, assorted samples and Sephora point perks.
Weekend plans: My mother- and sister-in-law are coming to visit! They’re the first (and probably only) family to visit us during the expat years, and I’m psyched as can be. I think we’ll keep it low-key this weekend (maybe have a barbecue and walk down to our neighborhood beach) and save any tours or adventures for next week when they’ve recovered from the flight. Selfishly, I’m also excited because it means having new things! (They’re bringing with them the aforementioned clothes and goodies.)
What is your favorite hot drink?: Anything sweet and frothy! I love mochas, chai lattes, homemade cocoa — coffee is a perk, but anything milky and fluffy will do. 🙂
How exciting to have your family visit Heather, where are they from?
A low key barbie and walk to the beach is a really good idea for the first few days and I hope you enjoy all your goodies.
Haul: Nothing yet, my budget is terrible rn but I have so much skincare to replace!
Weekend: I’m not sure as my husband has to work. I’d really like to see Antman and the Wasp though.
Fave hot drink: SBUX Chai or a really good latte or cappuccino.
Haul: Creer Beaute Sailor Moon liquid eyeliners…. I LOVE them.
Weekend plans: going to watch Croatia hopefully beat France in the World Cup at a local soccer club at 1am Australian time… hope it’s worth it!
Favourite hot drink: Strawberry and Cream tea from T2. It is heaven in a teabag.
Sailor Moon 4 Ever!
Haul:
Sephora Lipstories Lipstick in Matinee and Labyrinth City. I really like these lipsticks, and for $8 what more can you ask for? 🙂
There is a backstory to one of these choices, however. As beautiful and as quality PM Beautiful Creature lipstick is, when I got it home I had a serious case of sticker-shock induced buyer’s remorse. I left it untouched. Labyrinth City proved to be a close enough dupe for me. $8 vs $38 for a lipstick I’m happy with…well, back went the PM.
Weekend:
I just got back from a five-day trip to Milwaukee. The group I work with works hard…and parties hard. It’s unreal how they go on and on. Anyway, it’s always very fun and gratifying. I’m exhausted. My husband is flying in now from Edmonton, Alberta so he’s pooped too. Tomorrow we have to rev up for an engagement BBQ at our son’s fiance’s parent’s house. All my boys are coming, with two arriving this evening. Sunday = collapse. I decided I’m working from home on Monday. Phew.
Hot Drink:
Freshly ground coffee, straight up black, with beans from Philz in CA (Tesora blend). My husband has a burr grinder, measures in grams…don’t ask…but is it good. I close my eyes at the shipping costs and try to stock up when they have a no shipping special. Can’t want until they open in Boston, which should be this year.
Oh my Linda, you have had such a busy week and now weekend, no wonder you are exhausted. I hope you seriously get to rest on Sunday and working from home on Monday is a great idea. Do you have to bring some salads or dishes to the engagement party? Congratulations to your son too.
We use a burr grinder too. Every aspect of coffee preparation makes such a difference in the end result. I hate getting coffee away from home.
Haul: 3 m/d Ofra blushes, 1 BH blush (Honolulu Hideaway?) from U and the BH Zodiac palette are the only worthwhile mentions. Zodiac screams Rachel palette to me, also, thank God I can wear glasses again full time! Another overly bulky palette design, but I get it. I have only done 2 full day looks (excellent), but it swatches far better than most H’er E palettes these days. The shimmers are on the wet look side, rather than being major glimmery or too metallic. Lots of fun. I had never gotten BH before, and am pretty impressed. Glad Ms C got the VLG set, bec even though it is minis, it might be too pink or coral for me. Plans: my whatever is acting up, so left work early, also was trying to avoid a meltdown over the death of the boss’s boxer, one of those awful seemingly fine one day, major crisis, then passed the next. Lung cancer, and the owner does not smoke. I loved that dog, and still have to pretend I was not forewarned. She left early to avoid telling me. It would have been dreadful, and the center is in crisis mode, so no time for that. Cried all the way home. Riley was her only child. Work tomorrow and Sun. Maybe the ocean and sun, as I have figured out that sun plays little to no part in my whatever condition. TL to tell, multifactorial, multisymtpom, and confusing as hell. Hot bevvie? Dark roast coffee, with *$ Verona as the preference.
I hope you get to feeling better. Sorry about the loss of your boss’s boxer?
The BH Zodiac palette caught my eye, but I have so much makeup now that I am very choosy about what I add to my collection. I will have to live vicariously through you on the Zodiac.
I’m sorry to for the loss of your boss’ boxer. How sad. 🙁
You’re right about the Zodiac palette. I love it and recommend it all the time.
I love these threads because you learn so much about people – their different activities, lifestyles etc .
No purchases this week . I’ve been really good about spending lately . Saving for my daughter’s wedding .
Weekend – hub is away so hanging out by the pool and reading . At night I watch old Greys Anatomy reruns to my hearts content .
Dark roast coffee – 365 day’s a year !
Have a great weekend all !
Saving up for a wedding is really tough – our son’s wedding anniversary is on Bastille Day and I can remember absolutely gagging at the prices of the wine bottles at the reception place – let alone everything else.
There is nothing better than sitting down to watch a favourite old show is there?
Haul: 2 pairs of High impact sports bra from brooks that I can use to nurse my son, a running tank top, a Gym tank top, a pair of running crops. Its exciting to finally feel my ankle get better after falling and getting injured while I was pregnant. 3 dresses, one of which I’m going to return cause I bought two sizes of the same dress. And the little ones clothes.
Weekend plans: Visit my aunt in the hospital this weekend, clean up the house for guests next week for my sons baptism. Hopefully have a nice date night this weekend if time permits.
What is your favorite hot drink?: coffee!!
An adorable Mellon!
Haul: Nothing really this week.
Weekend plans: Saturday is my son and daughter in law’s wedding anniversary, so I am going up to babysit my grandchildren as they are going out for dinner.
Toys R’ Us Australia is closing down, and now they are offering some geniune discounts on their remaining toys, so I will check out what is left for some Christmas presents.
Sunday – I don’t really have any plans yet, but I think it includes a date with the ironing board. I am big on ironing.
Favourite hot drink: Definitely a cappachino or a cup of tea.
Enjoy your time with your grandchildren?
Haul: None. Trying to save up for future vacation plans.
Weekend Plans: Quality time with my sweetheart.
Favorite Hot Drink: Hot toddy or hot chocolate with a shot of Irish ream.
Also, confession time: while I check this site every day, I follow the Temptalia instagram just to save Mellan pictures. <3 <3 <3
Haul: Nada for beauty, but I finally bit the bullet and got three prints from one of my favorite artists. So excited!
Weekend plans: My SO just got out of major hernia surgery about 2 hours ago, so I’m going to spend some time at the hospital with him, then go home, come back, and spend the rest of the weekend trying to keep him comfortable. He’s fine, just not happy with having to constantly breathe.
What is your favorite hot drink?: Coffee! With real cream!
Wishing your S.O. a speedy recovery!
Awww Mellan, what a good boy!!!
*Haul -nothing, been too busy to figure out what to buy
*Weekend – haircut, chores, project
*Hot drink -used to be coffee with a bit of milk/cream, now it’s tea
Haul: nothing successfully purchased and definitely nothing makeup-related. I tried to buy a rolling shopper tote in a print that reminds me of passport stamps, but I got a “refund-we’re suddenly sold out” email like 3 hours after getting the shipping notification-the company said to check back at the end of the month. I have Fenty Beauty Killawatt 7daywknd/Poolside highlighter in my Sephora online basket and I’m considering buying the Puma x MAC Sin sneakers from Nordstrom. One of my aunts lives in Florida. Someone near her was selling a bunch of Barbies and similar dolls they didn’t want anymore, and my aunt snagged a few Disney Store princes-Aladdin, Flynn Rider from Tangled, and the human version of Prince Adam from Beauty and the Beast-for me.
Weekend plans: Worked all day and ran errands today, SVU marathon tomorrow, laundry Sunday.
What is your favorite hot drink?: Caramel macchiato, always with whole milk-it blends better than anything with less fat.
Mellan is such a cute puppy.
Haul: Reporting for 2 weeks.

Weekend Plans: Trying to stay cool despite high heat, high humidity weather. Might go to an art fair on Sunday.
Favourite Hot Drink: An American Misto with Soy.
I don’t really post much here but I read every week faithfully! This week I have things to list because I went on a pity party shopping spree ……….I was diagnosed with kidney cancer in both kidneys this week. I’m not in danger of dying as they caught it very very very early but still. Sucks. The only treatment option for kidney cancer is surgery and I meet with the surgeon next Thursday to see what the next step in this process is clearly I will need 2 surgeries as they can’t attack both kidneys at once. My prognosis is excellent but I’m still feeling very sorry for myself. I have early access to the Nordstrom sale so I purchased the following:
Super size Clinique liquid cleanser in mild
Super size Clinique clarifying lotion in formula 2
Super size Clinique 7 day scrub cream
Clinique dramatically different moisturizer
Lancôme mascara set
Ysl pink lip set
Flowerbomb perfume set
Franco sarto navy loafer
Halogen leopard mule
Bp sweater
