5 Must-Try Cream Eyeshadows for Summer

One of my favorite products these days are cream eyeshadows, particular one-and-done shades, which I’ve included three of here, and then two brighter, more vibrant shades that could be used as bases or incorporated with other eyeshadows for a major look.

  1. Benefit Birthday Suit — a bronzy taupe
  2. Maybelline Fierce & Tangy — tangerine orange
  3. Shiseido Esmaralda — a bluish-teal
  4. MAC Rubenesque — a coppery peach
  5. Dior Lune — a shimmery white

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I truly love cream eyeshadows. Look so natural and are so hassle free. Benefit has the best formulation, to my taste. I am deginitely trying that Shiseido one. Look so pretty.

I’ve got several powder shadows that are very close in colour to Esmeralda but nothing in a cream formulation so I might treat myself to that. My summer “loves” are Benefit Birthday Suit (but it’s a year ’round basic for me), as well as RSVP and also Chanel Illusoire….I love that one no matter what the time of year! And Maybelline Nude Complement (LE – such a shame it’s not permanent) is a great, easy summer eye look that doesn’t budge.

I don’t understand your swatches on the resulting page… is one just swatched and the 2nd blended? OR is one with primer and one without? I don’t see any explanation and am confused.
Thanks for the clarification!
Also, it has been hinted at that the Maybelline Fierce and Tangy may be being discontinued to make way for one of the newer shades being released. Have you heard this rumor?
Thanks in advance!

I heard from noveau cheap that Fierce and Tangy may be one of the five permanent colors to be discontinued (to make room for some new colors!). If you love F&T, or just the color orange itself, get it while you can. I have it, and it’s actually a fun color to have to your collection.

I just wore Fierce and Tangy for the first time today after snagging it and Audacious Asphalt on clearance (usually an indicator that a product is being discontinued, for those who have inquired) at Walgreens. I love it! Color Tattoos are great…I might wear cream shadows (along with cream blushes) all summer!

What bout MAC Paintpot? Or constructivist?!

For me, rubenesque is too one dimensional, can only be worn as a base to peachy/copper or even white eyeshadow shades.
