5 Beautiful Pewter Eyeshadows
What I love about the color of pewter is the variety… it can lean cool, silvery or warmer, more like a dirty, antique gold. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Sephora Lunar Eclipse — a sparkling silver and gold mix
- MAC Antique Diamond — a medium-dark pewter with warm undertones
- Dior Etoile — a light, shimmering silver and gold
- Sugarpill Tiara — — a silver-leaning pewter
- L’Oreal Gilded Envy — a dark pewter with bronze and antique gold shimmer
Pewter is a personal fav for me as well because runs more neutral and far less warm than golds and I can wear both the dirty and silvery varieties. I have lots of raves for MUG Moondust. Must get my hands on the Sephora and MAC products listed above because somehow both have escaped my attention. Definite plans to rectify.
Oh, I couldn’t let a really amazing pewterish pinky/plum concoction from Armani go without mention. ETK #30. I really do not know how to classify this shadow, but it has pewterish base with pink/plum highlights It’s beautifully complex and absolutely stunning.
I totally get what you mean about #30! I almost included but wasn’t sure if it would quite fit!
I feel like it’s similar to taupe in the respect that it can go so many ways – cool, light, dark, warm, dirty, clean…
How on earth did I miss Gilded Envy? I’m going to have to look for it and hope it’s available in Canada. Some of my favourites are the right hand side shadow in Guerlain’s Les Fumes quad, Stila Cloud and MAC Antique Diamond. I tried to get Modern Pewter but it was sold out everywhere around here. I wish they’d repromote it!
Fingers crossed it is! 🙂
It may be under a different name, but it has been added to the permanent line in the US. Youncan also check eBay; I’ve seen the Infallibles for really great prices, often lower than retail. HTH
Pewter is such an interesting color. L’Oreal’s version looks really beautiful.
It is!
I think the Sephora and Dior are very lovely! I really need to get more shadows. If I have to just buy one palette which one would you recommend Christine. xx
One palette for what purpose?
Gilded Envy….stunning. Why haven’t I picked it up? Lol.
Hope you can check it out 🙂
I luuuv shades like this. Sigh. Lunar eclipse looks so pretty..the last sephora shadow I tried was kind of hard and stiff though. I wonder if this one is any better!
Which shade did you try, Dee?
Hey Christine
I forget the name now (and I’m out of the country right now to check 🙂 ) but it was a duochrome orangey pink shade ( got it 2 years ago, but was enough to make me not buy anymore lol)
I wonder if it was their older formula, which I don’t think was impressive. The Colorful monos are pretty good in general!
I quite like it over Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy to maximize the sparkle!
Tiara is beautiful.
It is! So sparkly!
I’ve been putting off making a MAC haul, but I think that Paint Pot will push me over the edge, LOL! While I’m at it, I may as well go for the Sugarpill shadows I’ve been pondering… Also, I *must* check out the one from Sephora!
My favorite pewter ATM is from the LORAC Pro palette, which I also picked up as a single when Sephora had it in a little set for the Holidays. Surprisingly, the only one I have from this list is Gilded Envy, and I absolutely *love* pewter eyeshadow! I’m also loving the pewter-ish shades in the new Kat von D palettes.
Although since DC’d, I thought I’d mention Iman Pewter & Kat von D Livewire…
Kat Von D had a couple of nice ones lately!
I just bought the Sephora Lunar Eclipse yesterday! It’s so beautiful! I’m very glad that they changed the formula of their shadows. I really like the Loreal and Sugarpill shadows too.
YAYYYY!!! Right?? The new formula is WAY better.
What about MAC Caviar Dreams it’s my absolute favorite I love it for a grunge look ugh one of my go to looks w/ a smudgy eyeliner and Cinderfella I swear by this look, sadly I’ve hit pan on Caviar Dreams so I’m on the search for a dupe
I can see that working well with Cinderfella!
Pewter is like taupe: a complex shade with enough warm and cool tones incorporated in it that it can work on a wide variety of complexions and combine with a wide variety of other colours. I don’t understand how someone couldn’t love it. My personal favourite, which I use sparingly because it’s so expensive and I don’t want to have to replace it, is Sisley Stardust. I’ll definitely check out some of these options, though.
You nailed it! 🙂 Taupe and pewter are impossible for me to resist.
These are all beautiful colours that would suit everyone. I love the Sephora mix the best.
Agreed!
This is one of those shades I don’t really think suits me, but I wear it anyway because it’s so stunning! The Dior one is stunning.
I bet it does!
I absolutely love pewter – it makes my brown eyes pop. I think I spied a gorgeous pewter in one of the Chanel quads that I hope you’ll be reviewing soon 😀
There is one! 🙂
GILDED ENVY IS THE BOMB. It cannot be beaten within its price-point. I have only recently picked this up, and I will be purchasing a backup the next time I see one. It. Is. Gorgeous.
It’s SO pigmented!
any pewter like shade is one of those that always calls to me! i definitely want to try the sugar pill one! and gilded envy.
I’m right there with you!
Lunar eclipse and glided envy are both grgs shades.. I still have to add a pewter shadow in my stash.. 🙂
You totally need to add it, Poo!
These are all beautiful!
I was actually holding Antique Diamond last week, but decided not to buy anything from MAC as the line to the check out was so long and all the sales assistants were busy. The Dior Etoile is heavenly, pity it’s expensive, maybe for Christmas. I’ll swatch Lunar Eclipse on my next Sephora visit.
Who am I trying to kid, I want them all, having a serious Pokemon moment here!
LOL! Lunar Eclipse is quite lovely, though, and possible the more affordable of those three.
I don’t wear this shade too often but the Sephora and Sugarpill shadows are so gorgeous! I think I have something similar in my stash. I need to figure out which palette though lol
I bet you do! 😉
I love them all. I’m always on the hunt for pewter shadows. Being neutral leaning to cool I find it’s often a better option then silver or gold because it’s more neutral ground so I have more leeway with my other make up shades.
Pewter is a great option for anyone who doesn’t love silver/gold in their purer forms!
I looooove pewter and there are so few! I have bobbi brown pewter metalic that I love. And Inglot 454. I wish I could get MAC modern pewter. It’s on my repromote radar (along with pink opal pigment, grrrr….) I’ll definitely have to check out the L’oreal shade.
I feel like so many are LE 🙁
Oooh…so excited to see this list! Pewter is a shade that doesn’t get enough love, I think! 😀 I’m not sure I have a lot of what I’d call ‘pewter’, precisely… unless maybe you count UD Pistol from the Naked 2. It’s a bit more toward the brown/taupe side when sheered out, but says ‘pewter’ to me in the pan, LOL!
Conclusion: I need more pewter 😀
Pistol is kind of like pewter. More taupe than pewter if you made me choose… but hey, better than NO pewter 😉
Lorac’s pewter is very pretty as well! more of a satin finish than some that you mentionned but I like it a lot. It’s truly a coincidence that I am wearing it right now in my crease and lower lash line! 🙂
Ooh, what else are you wearing with it, Marie?
Hah! two colors both from the summerGLO palette! I love it sooo much 🙂 the darkest nutmeg brown color in the outer corner and the light peachy one in the inner corner, blending with pewter on the lid.
I paired that with a Bite beauty in Violet. 🙂
Iman’s Pewter is a gorgeous pewter with intense pigment.
I’ll have to check that shade out!
