The Spring Season: MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick
MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick ($14.00) is a creamy, full color coverage shade of pinked beige. It’s one of my favorite nude shades to pair with a smoky eye, because it has this natural pinkness to it that keeps it from making me look like I’m sporting corpse-lips (which aren’t usually so flattering on me). It has a very soft sheen, but there is no shimmer in it. I’d have to say that Velvet Teddy may be one of my favorite lipsticks from MAC (at least, from the permanent range)–the texture is just phenomenal.
Is this the right nude lipstick for you? Would you wear it?
The Spring Season is a series of posts featuring my favorite soft beige, coral, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for the first blossom of spring — that runs through March 2010.

Hi Christine, I'm NC42 would this lipstick work on me ? Since I have a pigmented upper lip - what lip pencil should I use to pair with this to get a pinkish-brown look ? Thank you !
Hey christine! I'm new to makeup, and I want to start wearing lipsticks (only used lipglosses before) and can you recommend me just one soft pink lipstick for everyday and school? Thank you!
The online helper at mac just told me this would be good on me so had to check out the colour on actual LIPS, think he was right on! Also Hug Me. He said using spice pencil with creme 'nude on top is another technique to try.
I'm an NC45 and this lipstick is hot with Hodgepodge or Cork lip pencil which I blend out like mad because I hate obvious lines and I love matte lipstick. This matches the pink bottom lip I have and it enhances the complexion.
This shade looks great, but I am wondering how it would look on an African American girl(my complexion isn't light, but more medium complexion). ;o) I am looking for a great nude lipstick that won't make me look like I have been eating a powdered donut. LOL
Yes I would buy it ...but I have the one that came out with the style warrior collection that looks very similar
This color is so pretty, but I'm sort of afraid of MAC's matte lipsticks! They just seem so dang dry. I actually don't own any. This one does look a little less so though. I avoid frosts for the same reason too...
I agree with Tiffany.... just a little too brown to be flattering on me, but a very nice nude as well. I also tend to have a problem to find a perfect nude shade, because I look washed out and corpse like easily. Up to date, I have never found the perfect nude. I won't stop looking though! :)
i'm not sure why, but this showed up way more brown/darker on my lips. Not really a nude for me at all (NW20). My lips have more red in them (compared with Christine's).
Gosh....I wish I knew about this l/s earlier today when I was at the mall. I love this color!! Must Buy...I love the brown tone...my lips are pretty pigmented so this will suit me nicely...I hope =)
This would look great with a smokey e/s look. Although, it's definitely one I would have to try on before purchasing.
I have a mac lipstick question that maybe you will be able to help me with: how to you get them to look less chalky, and more lush? I just got victorian, which is pretty and doesn't look bad on me, but it just doesn't apply well and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm using Urban Decay lip primer underneath, but with or without they don't look so hot.
Interesting... I haven't had that problem! There shouldn't have to be a technique - you should be able to just slap it on, to be honest :(
I have this one and love it. It's the only MAC lipstick I have that is almost completely used up. Do you have any smokey looks paired this lipstick?
This is so weird, but while I love the texture and heavy pigmentation of Velvet Teddy, this color looks much more brown on me than it does on you. It really is amazing how much skin tones influence the way a lipstick looks on the lips; I am fair-skinned with rosy lips and this color is almost a true beige on me. Def recommend trying it on before purchasing if you can.
That looks really great on you Christine :) I love Velvet Teddy! Quick question, do you apply your lipstick with a brush or just from the tube? Your lipstick always looks flawless :)
From the tube :) I am too lazy to do it with a lip brush unless it's a super vampy/dark color that *needs* a lip brush (like reds or wines).
Christine...do you sleep? LOL I check your blog usually in the morning and at night. Both times you have new posts up and I'm in NYC, so its 3 hours behind for you over there; so how you have posts up before I even wake up makes me conclude you don't sleep! O.O
I schedule out some posts so that east coasters have stuff to read in the morning even if I'm sleeping :)
