MAC Chamomile Eyeshadow
MAC Warm & Cozy Collection: Eyeshadows
Four brown-hued shades of eyeshadow debuted in the Warm & Cozy Collection. On my skin (probably around NC20 for the underside of my arm — which is where I do swatches), they were all fairly faint. You can see the color, but they’re obviously not ultra rich in pigmentation. I don’t think that makes them bad necessarily, they’re just softer shades and definitely should be used in conjunction with a base (e.g. Cuddle shadestick).
- Chamomile is a pigmented light beige. Surprisingly, this was one of the more pigmented shades of the four. It would make an excellent all-over-lid shade or a highlighter. It’s like a beige-y version of Blanc Type.
- Modelette is a softly shimmered medium brown. It’s decently pigmented, but it’s not at all intense (just to be sure).
- Mulled Cider is a medium-dark red-tinged brown. It reminds me of a satin-finish Folie or Swiss Chocolate (and sheerer).
- Embark is a dark, red-based brown with a matte finish. It swatches like garbage, and I really couldn’t tell you why. This is definitely one of those looks-better-in-use shades, though (I’ve owned Embark forever!).
MAC has a whole slew of amazing neutral eyeshadows in their permanent line-up. I don’t know if these would be the first browns I’d go-to, to be honest. I’d probably just check out their permanent range, because there really are some incredible shades available. (You can see my eight must-have MAC neutrals here.)

Hi Christine, I want to buy Modelette on Ebay because I see it online as a color between pink and brown. But in some pictures it looks rather caramelish (closer to Tete A-Tint). Could you help me with the color? Is it rather pink or does it have caramel/orangey hues to it? I know it is very personal. I will be responsible for my decission :) Thanks.
hi ! I am interested in the "mulled cider" shadow but have a few questions. is it similar to mac's "cork" shadow ? I want to find a crease color that is slightly darker than cork. Also, how much shimmer does it have ?
It's similar to Cork, but there's pretty much no shimmer in it. I'd say it's a little darker and not as red as Cork.
I like Chamomile. I thought it was going to be more yellow (which looks awful on me), but this shade of beige makes a great addition to my collection.
These are pretty in person and I like the eyeshadows better than the love lace eyeshadows but I agree with buying permanent shades of neutral instead because these are not overly unique and there are definitely prettier and better ones in the permanent collection.
Hi Christine! I'm looking for a dark, matte brown. I was thinking Embark- do you think it's the best choice or is there another MAC shadow you think would work better? Thanks a lot!
I like Espresso, and I was going to say Brun, but apparently Brun is a satin. Embark is OK - I think I prefer a more neutral brown, just because the red undertones of Embark can throw a look off from time to time!
I kinda like modelette now that I've seen the swatch, but when I saw the collection in person a couple days ago and I was really not impressed with it.
Heh. They vaguely remind me of a poor man's version of the Chanel Kaska Beige quad...for the same price as the quad too! :P The colors are pretty but yeah, I've got plenty of nice permanent browns and neutrals. Chamomile is slightly tempting, but probably not enough.
