MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipstick
MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipstick

MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipstick

MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipstick ($14.50 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “light warm beige.” It’s a peach-tinged pale beige-nude with an amplified finish. The amplified finish gives is a creamier consistency, more color pigmentation, and a semi-matte finish. I did find this shade a little on the drier side, so I would recommend prepping lips accordingly (keep the moisturized, exfoliate prior).

my thoughts on the formula: MAC Lipsticks are vanilla-scented but taste-free. I typically get four hours of wear, but some of the lighter lustre and glaze finishes tend to disappear by hour three. Amplified cremes and amplified finishes, however, tend to go beyond four, but with lighter shades like Viva Glam Gaga 2, I expect around four.

  • Product: 25/30
  • Value: 8/10
  • Ease of Use: 4/5
  • Packaging: 4/5

final thoughts: The warm undertones are very slight and subtle; they’re not overwhelming, so this nude will still work on cooler skin tones. It’s like a peach version of Creme d’Nude; lighter version of Peachstock. I wish it was more forgiving on lips–perhaps less dry–because it tends to show imperfections on the lips.

I find the vanilla scent of MAC lipsticks to be somewhat nauseating :(

    • Maritza

I like this color on Lady Gaga, however I don’t think it’s for me. Thanks for the swatches now I know I pass on this one. Thanks for your work you are awesome!

      • I agree. The color in it’s own is beautiful, but I don’t think I can pull off the completely nude lips.

More power to those can though!

      • Deejay

That’s what I thought too, but when I went and bought it a couple of mins ago the ladies at mac all had the lipstick and gloss on and it looked different on all of them and it fit them all because they all used a lip liner underneath. That’s what convinced me on buying it and I love it.

        • Diana

Yup. The woman who helped me used spice and she looked gorgeous. I thought spice might be a little too dark for me so I just for subculture, but I might head back to pick up spice too. They actually had little sets pre packaged (lippie, gloss, liner for $42) and other sets (lippie, gloss, 2 shadows, lashes) $72.

          • Nadia

Hi, Diana, How did your sales lady apply her lip liner? Mine said for me to apply Spice lipliner with nude lipsticks so they don’t appear chalky on my lips. The Mac counter was so packed yesterday that I didn’t get a chance to ask my saleslady how exactly I should apply the Spice lipliner.

    • marcela

really??? i looove the smell! LOL i sometimes find myself opening a tube just to take a whiff… reminds me of candy-covered Jordan almonds. yum!

    • ak

Really? As soon as I put the actual lipstick on I don’t smell it anymore, the smell’s gone for the whole day. As my nose is right over my lips, believe me I’d notice! LOL

    • Mayra

So sorry, its the total opposite with me, i love it! Sometimes ill take out a lipstick just smell it!!

    • Lilac

haha, for me it is the opposite, MACs lipsticks are the only ones I can stand :)

    • aida

I am having the same problem lately, I didn´t notice it so much but lately I pass on MAC lipsticks for the scent. To beige for me

  2. Suyin

Christine, this nude shade looks amazing on you! :)
Sadly it is a lipstick that shows flaws, as you said. :(

  3. CeeBee

I’ve never fancied the whole “concealer” lips look. May be great for Gaga but it’s not for me.

  4. I love NUDE LIPSTICKS. The color looks great on you, but the formula is a tad unforgiving of imperfections. Maybe a nice lip gloss on top will hide that somewhat. That’s usually what I put on top of my nudes. A little bit of NARS Turkish delight or striptease will do the trick :)

    • shannon

Do you think this is too dark for skin tones of NC15-20?

      • Femme_Fatale

I’m NW 15/20 and it looks great on me. :) Not dark at all.

        • Gabriella Manuli

Haha yeah, it doesn’t look too bad on me as well (I’m also a NW15/20… Although I can’t say for sure what gals with more warm toned skin (the NC’s) would look like). I swatched mine at my local MAC store, although be wary of my advice- at my MAC the Gaga II was browner in comparison to the swatches sold here- I guess some lipsticks may be different?

      • Krystal

I am a NC15 and it is not too dark for me… actually looks pretty good with my coloring!! :) I LOVE IT!

  5. Ani_BEE

Creme d’Nude is my favorite nude lipstick on my fair skin tone. Since Viva Glam Gaga 2 is just a lighter shade of Peachstock I can see it also making me look dead. >_<

  6. NR

Too bad it’s an Amplified Cream… I really don’t like that formula :(

  7. I have just bought mine right now at the website

  8. Denise

I never thought that I would say that, but I like it. It looks perfect on you. Sadly I think it will be too dark for me :(.

  9. Amanda Blyskal

uhg i dont like it at all….

  10. Sally

Wow… that’s practically your skin tone! I think it’s a little too peachy for me, I like Creme d’Nude a lot better!

  11. Becca

hmmm… I might actually pick this up, I’ve been on the hunt for my perfect nude (not sorta but actually nude) lipstick from MAC , but I only want to get 1 for now consideing I don’t have any and don’t wear nude lips that often anyways

  12. Kayla Rachelle

It’s gorgeous! I never got a chance to pick up the original Viva Glam Gaga ): Is there anywhere to get it? I thought it was permanent.

  13. Eunice

I think the lipstick looks nice on you!

    What’s on your waterline?

  14. Beccy

How does it compare to ‘The Faerie glen’? x

  15. It doens’t look as brown as I thought it would be. With luch, it will fit my pale skin tone :)

  16. Jessica

I like the shade but I can’t stand drying lipsticks. I’m looking forward to the review of the lipgloss.

Is this the final packaging of the lipstick? Isn’t there Lady Gagas signature on the tube like last year?

  17. honoluluhoney

thank you so much christine for having the swatches up so fast! i like the nude color, i might get this!

  18. Lizzi

How does this compare to Innocence, Beware?

  19. Anh

Thanks so much! I almost bought them last night but I thought I just waited for your reviews. And… you saved my bucks :)

  20. First lipstick that doesn’t suit you and therefore nothing for me :( What a shame, though.

  21. bobbie cole

Would MAC Underplay or empowered lipsticks be a dupe at all?

  22. Does this compare to Innocence Beware? I have that lipstick, and they look similar in pictures but I wanted your expert opinion 😀

  23. Wow, i really love this colour!

  24. michelleee

man…I bought the first viva glam gaga, its sooo hard for me to wear since im naturally tan I guess you can say dark…well more like caramel…this would probably make me look like I have no lips lol:/..I think ill pick it up for my sister though since shes lighter than me lol

  25. Amanda

Is this at all comparable to Fleshpot or Gosh Darling?

  26. marcela

whoa! i loved the color in the tube (looks like creamy caramel) but NOT on lips! looks terribly concealer-like. would probably look nice on VERY pale skin, but that’s about it.

  27. ZOMG, so pretty. This reminds me of Empowered, which was a MAC l/e fave of mine!

  28. Quynh

I ordered both of these from Macy’ last week (thanks for the tweet!). Tried them on yesterday, and they looked ok. I would not wear them together again since they completely nude my lips out. I would pair a pink or purple lipglass with this lipstick to add a little more color. As for the lipglass, i would wear it on its own with a lipliner since it’s pretty pigmented.

    • Diana

I went crazy testing it out last night after I got it! I put Courting Lilac on top and loved it. Also tried Mellow Mood on top (which I love but have a hard time getting it to last more than an hour). So basically I agree :) a pink or purple on top looks fab.

  29. Sasse142

IMO Revlon’s Soft Nude is a great dupe for this. I swatched – will send via twitter.

  30. Mariella

Yuck! I don’t think it looks all that hot on Lady Gaga and I really don’t think this look is flattering on anyone, to be honest. I wonder, sometimes, if the people who create this stuff “for us” have forgotten that the aim of makeup is to look pretty (at least, that’s what I think).

    • Megan

Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean no one else does…if you don’t like it, don’t buy it! What is pretty to you may not be to someone else.

        • Jesi

I agree and frankly I don’t think it was a nice thing to say ‘yuck’ as a comment to Christine’s look even if it’s not your cup of tea you can say something in much nicer terms. Show a little respect. This girl is providing you a service for free. And to further add to your comment I think Christine looks stunning in a nude lip! Trust, if something wouldn’t sell companies wouldn’t keep making it so apparently people like it if they are buying it.

  31. Hmm…Never been a fan of nudes and I prefer the Viva Glam Gaga original much more.

Won’t stop me from trying it out at my Mac counter though! I live in vain hoping for the day I’ll wake up and suddenly discover a love of nudes!

  32. Greta

i need this in my life.

  33. The lipstick is SOOO much prettier than the gloss. Definitely like this one!

  34. What a shame! I thought this would also be a lustre :/

  35. Riana

Bought it, don’t love it. Unfortunately this is a shade that imo works on skin tones right around that of Gaga’s (it also helps if you have a transportable light machine and oodles of perfectly done makeup on at all times 😉 In other words, not a shade you can slip on before running out he door.

I’m kind of dissapointed. Apparently her whole slogan behind the color was for any woman of any skin tone to be able to wear it, well…not so much. Pretty much the same skin tone most makeup is geared towards.

I think I’ll end up returning this one, sorry since it is for a good cause. I just can’t take any more extra lipsticks in my house.

  36. Amy

I’m kinda disappointed. Not because I think the overall shade is bad, I just don’t think it will look good on me. I wish they would have come out with a pinker shade that everyone could wear, like they did before.
I think I’ll just stick with Creme d’Nude.

  37. i was SO excited about this i bought it at midnight last night online, i hope the formulation isnt too dry though ! still debating on the lipgloss. But id just like to say Christine, im so thankful for you and Temptalia. Its a favorite site of mine and i check it religiously ! (and by that i mean daily !) and i hope you know that no matter what, you have people like me and many others who love you and temptalia and are so appreciative for all the hard work you do, youre a great, admirable person and you are loved by many ! xoxo

  38. Carrie Ann

I actually bought this last week. I’ve yet to try it, but it looks really pretty in the tube and it’s Viva Glam, so I thought, Why not? Warm colors do tend to look best on me, so I’m hoping this will be flattering as well. I think this is only the second Amplified lipstick I’ve bought. I’m curious to try it out.

  39. ak

Hi Christine I really appreciate that you tested the new VG Gaga up against Yash on your skin, thanks! But it’s a shame that VG Gaga is way lighter than Yash, although Yash was peachy as well and it looked almost the same on you as VG Gaga.

Do you think an NC45 could wear this ne VG Gaga Christine? I have brown lip pencils so…what do you think? At least the VG Gaga looks sheer on your arm Christine. Is it sheer?

  40. Too consealer-ish for me!

  41. Christine shen

Aww.. I want to love this, Peachstock is already too pale on me, this definitly not going to work.

  42. Erica

Hi, Christine, how does it compare to Underplay (which is also a warm nude, and my favorite of all times)?

  43. Vania

Looks chalky (as usual with a lot of mac lipsticks), and honestly I find the color quiet ugly :( this one is definetely not for me…

  44. Melissa

Can you compare this color with the Viva Glam II? I don’t mean swatches, but do they look alike? Thank you.

  45. Femme_Fatale

Dh got this for me today and I looove it! It looks awful in the tube but so pretty on. I patted it on and that seemed to help to not exaggerate my chapped lips. It’s also one of those lipsticks that seems to change a lot according to lip liner used (though I love it on it’s own). I’m NW15/20 and on me it looks like a pale peachy nude, very 60’s looking. This is going to be a staple l/s in my purse. :)

    • Emi

I’m hoping that it’ll suit me too! I’m around your skin tone. I thought Peachstock pulled too orange against my skin and this seems to be more neutral. Fingers crossed!

  46. Pam

woah this looks like a PURE nude LOL. i think i will stick to my Cherish lipstick. Thanks for the review. The $$ does go to a great cause so i will still probably pick one up when i have a chance.

  47. Elizabeth

I like the color, but I don’t think it’d work too well on me. =/
Oh well, I suppose I’ll buy it anyway to give money for the foundation and if it DID work, that would be the bonus.

  48. Michelle

Boo… I was so excited for this to come out, but alas, the dreaded corpse lips… I hate that aplified finish, I don’t think it ever sits quite right on the lips (in my oppinion)… Wish this had a bit more pigmentation and was a more flattering finish like a luster or satin… maybe the gloss will be a better hit…

  49. ak

I’m sorry, forgive me but I DO really like concealer lips! LOL I love the way they look on the models in Vogue and the like, yeah I know that’s not ral life, but whatever! LOL

  50. Danielle Fatima

I just bought it and I LOVE ITTTTTTTTTTTTT!

There’s so many nude lipsticks that make me look super dead and this one, surprisingly from all the pictures that have been going around, does not.

I like it better than the first Viva Glam Gaga 😀

  51. ak

I’m sorry, forgive me but I DO really like concealer lips! LOL I love the way they look on the models in Vogue and the like, yeah I know that’s not real life, but whatever! LOL

    • Becca

      haha me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I used to hate them, but I actually put concealer on my lips (long story short- I have no nude lipsticks) because I was doing a smokey eye, and it actually really pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So lately I’ve been obsessed with nude lips!!!!! But sadly I still don’t have any nude lipsticks :((

  52. claudia

it’s a beautiful lipstick, but too warm toned for me !

  53. I can’t get on board with this color- it looks like concealer to me. :/ Too bad because I love the idea of Viva Glam and I usually like the colors too. Although I didn’t like the first VG Gaga either…

  54. Oh its REALLY nude. No thanks!

  55. Ann

I am so leaving this one. Ewh!!! Thanks for the swatches you save me sooo much money.

  56. Meg

I like it! I’m not really a nude lip person… but I think I may give it a try! :)

  57. Piarpreet

can you please please please compare it to fleshpot and myth ???

  58. I love how it matches your skintone!!! ^__^

  59. Sixx

I did not find this drying at all. Peachstock is much more drying for me.

  60. RosaVee

Ooh, I actually like this more than the lipgloss! How long will this be available for?

  61. sad person

:( I was hoping it would be a tad darker!… I’m an NC43 and I can’t wear any of her lipsticks! how unfair!

  62. Natalie

Yet another Gaga colour that is unwearable for me. I was really hoping I could pull this one off since I couldn’t work the pink one, but it’s so pale and unflattering. I’d have to pair it with a lot of lipliner and by that point I might as well just wear another colour :(

  63. Maya

I bought this today (along with Viva Glam II – yay for lipstick and charity!) and I absolutely love it! I’m surprised so many people aren’t into it. I’ve really liked both of Lady Gaga’s colors

  64. Maggie

These look just as unwearable as the first round of Viva Glam Gaga lippies. To be fair, though, I don’t think anybody looks good in super-nude lips (even Lady Gaga).

  65. Andrea

I’m a complete SUCKER for nudes. So I’ll definitely pick it up tomorrow. along with the gloss. Thanks Christine! :)

  66. Eva

Just bought the lipstick and lipglass! On my NW15/NW20 leaning on neutral skin this nude is the perfect light brown! It isn’t orangey at all, just a smidge peach, but VERY neutral!

  67. ChristineD

This colour is perfect, awesome, and fantastic! Love me a good nude 😉

  68. Gabriella Manuli

I really like this lipstick from what I see. Creme d’ Nude is a bit orange for me- how do you think this would look in comparison?

    • Are you sure Creme d’Nude is the one that went orange on you? Because Creme d’Nude doesn’t have any orange in it – it’s a pale, pinky nude. If Creme d’Nude is orange on you, than I don’t think this would be any better, since this is warmer.

      • Gabriella Manuli

Haha yeah, for some strange reason it looked orange. But is it weird that when I went to my MAC the Gaga lipstick they had on display was more brown toned? I was minorly confused by that. I think that since I’m a little paler than most (NW20) colors read much differently on me than on others. But I can never be sure.

  69. Jessica

    That is just…scary.

  70. Nunuiviet

Christine you look washed out with this colour on your lips, hardly see anythin! This shows how much dull we can be without any colours in our life!

  71. Nunuiviet

Christine you look washed out with this , very unflattering, plus with a close up we can see the line on the lips, this texture is paired with this kind of colour is definitely a no no.

  72. Rebecca

I think I’ll get this colour :-) seems like a good nude for spring/summer – at lest for me, I think, hope 😀 let’s see. I’ll have a look at it in March when we get it =)

  73. Kelly C.

Sad to have to ‘leave’ this, I love Viva Glam so much! It’s just not my color at all. I’ll just have to keep buying VI.

  74. Ling

Anyone knows how MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipstick compares with Blankety?

  75. Amber

would you say this is close to MAC myth or innocence beware ??

  76. Judy

I went to MAC today to try on Velvet Teddy and Freckletone and the lady told me that GaGa came out with a nude. After trying the three on, I went with GaGa’s and I love it!

  77. Annie

do you think this lipstick would look good on nc42 or 43 skintones???

  78. Marcela

This will look beautiful on lighter skin tones, on medium to darker skin tones I don’t think it will work. This is one of the few lipsticks that did not justice for you Christine.

  79. i cant decide on this lipstick, i dont like lipsticks darker than myth really, dont like browish tones. i personally hate the smell of mac lipsticks but i do love the colours, why cant they be fragrance free, as the so called vanilla fragrance i have never been able to smell, its not what i associate with vanilla anyway, the worst ones formula wise to me are the creme sheen, stopped buying those as the smell and taste weird.

  80. justjamiexo

i bought it a couple weeks ago, in NY, so i’m guessing it was out early. But I love it. I just rub it in on my lips for a perfect nude. If I were to apply it regularly though I don’t think it would suit my skin tone very well, it comes across a bit dark on my lips.

  81. Alina

very pretty, but I guess next time I’ll go for Creme d’nude

  82. Love the nude color! is it like a taupe color? BUTTTT, You look too washed out. the pictures that you took recently are all like that. what’s wrong with your camera? so the picture with your lips doesnt do a justice at all. :/

    • I don’t think I looked washed out at all – every photo I post is color accurate – or else I would not post. I spend a great deal of time ensuring that photos are accurate of the products they are showing off.

  83. sophie

i don’t know how this one will look on me (the first lady gaga lipstick looked terrible on me) but it does not look so good on you either!
    i think i’ll pass

  84. Ms. Jimmi

Not my color. Not feeling it.

  85. I’m nc45 and I love the gloss and lipstick. Everyone I put it on yesterday bought it! It’s definitely a color you should try for yourself. Not all colors are meant to be applied like chapstick. Apply a liner and DAB the color on until you get the effect you want and add gloss if you choose. It’s a strange beautiful color that photos don’t do justice. Check it out!

  86. Lindz

Omg!! Gaga lipstick with emancipation lipgloss over it is my new nude lip! Gorgeous. Christine this looks amazing on you! I haven’t seen a look on you I didnt like. You’re such a camelion. Oh and for reference I’m an nc 15/20.

  87. Joanne

I was so excited about Gaga 2. I went to my local MAC store yesterday and tried it on. It looked awful!!! Just for reference I am NC43. This may work on lighter skin tones but the lipstick nor lipgloss worked for me.

  88. snm

i had high hopes for this lippie bu i really don’t think i will be buying.I am definetely a bold lips girl and these colors make me look like a zombie.maybe i will change my mind since i love viva glam campaign and lady gaga:)

  89. Laura

It looks lovely on Lady Gaga and very pretty on you too, but I can’t see it working on me at all :(

  90. Constanza

The pity of all of these Gaga lipsticks is that the Viva Glams were known to be shades that suited everyone or almost everyone. The Gaga shades are lovely on the tube, but seriously, they don’t live up to their predecesors on that thing. I’d love to see a Cyndi II, though…

  91. Laura

Funny, this looks way different on Kelly of Vampy Varnish. Your two skin tones are pretty different, I think, which is probably why there’s such a big difference.

  92. Flavinha

I was so anxious to see the new Viva Glam Gaga II (because I love the Viva Glam Gaga I), but now I am disapointed… the color looks like MAC Myth.

  93. agy

why oh why nude lippies never look good on me (NC42)eventhough i really wanted, i have MAC velvet teddy, mac vanity’s child and NARS honolulu honey but i dont like it,my face look pale :(

  94. chibu74

absolutely not for me…would look great on light skin tones though

  95. P

Sadly it’s too light for me. I love nudes but not the “concealer” ones. I couldn’t pull off the pink first Gaga also.

  96. Angelcat47

I love this shade and Christine,I love the way you did the comparison swatches as Creme D’Nude is my favorite Mac lipstick and I can really see the difference. You rock,GF!!

  97. Joanne

I think it looks pretty nice on you! I want to get into nudes, but I feel like none of them will work on me. I have very red lips and I feel like any nude lipstick I try won’t really show up on my lips. Do you have any advice/suggestions? Thanks!

  98. Jessi

Unfortunately it is completely impossible for me to judge how a lip color is going to look on me based on your pictures. My skin is so pale they always end up looking so different. I saw a swatch on another pale lady with cool tones like me and I actually think this color would look good on me. And funny enough, i think I’m learning to guess how the color will look on me based on your pictures, haha.

  99. Cynn

Thanks for the swatches. Was wondering if Peachstock and Freckletone are permanent or limited edition???

  100. Rose

ehhhhhhh… Its not what i was expecting, kinda disappointed
