Lipglasses: Electro Lush, Fab Fun, Frozen Dream, Sassy Lassy, The Wee Coquette
MAC Tartan Tale Chapter 2: Sassy Pink Lassies Lipglass Set
This year, MAC has released three different miniature lipglass sets. Each set contains five limited edition shades of lipglass, each containing 0.08 oz. of product. Like the other sets from Chapter 2, they are housed in a metal tin that features the tartan pattern on the outside. They also have a plastic insert to keep the glosses standing up evenly within the tin, but it can be easily removed for more storage. Each set retails for $29.50.
Lipglasses are sheer to opaque in color, but they have a tackier, stickier texture. They are supposed to be vanilla-scented, but I did find a couple throughout the sets that smelled like plastic. These have the same sponge-tipped applicators that full-sized lipglasses have, but it seems less spongy and less gloss is pulled through on each pass (not necessarily a bad thing there!).
This set includes: Electro Lush (medium mauve), Fab Fun (pale crystal pink), Frozen Dream (medium pink rose), Sassy Lassy (bright pink fuchsia), and The Wee Coquette (naked neutral pink).
- Electro Lush is a creamy medium-pink with a little plum to it and white micro-shimmer. This is a repromote from Flashtronic (2007). I can’t think of a great dupe in the permanent line for this one.
- Fab Fun is a sheer, milky pink gloss base with large flecks of silvery-white shimmer and glitter. It looks a lot like Morning Glory (Lustreglass) or even Like Venus (Dazzleglass).
- Frozen Dream is a semi-sheer, cool-toned lilac pink with lots of pale pink and white shimmer. This is a repromote from Chill (2008). It’s not quite as pale as Cultured, but they are similar.
- Sassy Lassy is an opaque, creamy fuchsia that pulls very blue. It also has subtle pale pink shimmer. It’s a lot bluer and cooler-toned than Pink Poodle.
- The Wee Coquette is a cool-toned, white-beige with soft white shimmer. It’s very milky, and it does settle into liplines. It’s a lot like Fleshpot lipstick in lipglass form. It’s so pale it makes my lips look a little purple.
A normal lipglass contains 0.17 oz. of product and retails for $14.50. In this set, you’ll receive 0.40 oz. worth of lipglass for $29.50. This works out to be $85.29/oz. for an individual [full-sized] lipglass and $73.75/oz. for the lipglass set. It’s also worth pointing out that for the price of two full-sized shades, you’ll have five shades to choose from. If you’re someone who doesn’t stick with one gloss long enough to finish, the sets will be more worthwhile for you.

RECOMMENDATION: I like the way these colors look together; it’s a good variation on pink, though they all lean rather cool-toned.

Product & Review FAQ
Where can I purchase this set? How much is it?
The press release I received said November 4th at all MAC locations and online, but many counters/stores are saying the 11th, so I advise checking with your local store before heading out. $29.50.
Is it limited edition?
Yes.
Any dupes?
Please see individual shades for any potential dupes.
I have this one and really love ALL the colors! They looked great on me. I tried the coral one, but they're just too similar to my own lip color.
A pinkier dupe for electro lush is Laura Mercier's Lip Glace in violet it's not an exact dupe but i think it'll look pretty close on the lips
Just picked this up yesterday and all the colors look great! The only one that didn't sit well with me was Wee Coquette but loving 4/5 is pretty good imo.
Hmm... I'm getting the coral set but I am reconsidering this one. I can't pull off Sassy Lassy or the Wee Coquette, so I'm deciding whether 3 MINI lipglasses are worth the 35.50 CAN.
u 're doing an awesome job reviewing individually each set!i was just wondering will you do a review on the nail polish set as well?
Sassy Lassy is so pretty but it's one of those shades that are pretty on other people and not me, lol Electro Lush is oh so pretty too and it's an everyday shade!!
I love Sassy Lassie, what lip liner would you use to make the color pop a little more? Is this lip gloss similar to 'Girl Around Town' lipstick??
Hi Christine! I know this isn't exactly related, but I would love to see you review and swatch some of the NARS lip gloss sets for the holiday season, like Crazy Heart and Follow the Boys. Thanks!
I believe they are just permanent shades bundled into sets - I have all of NARS permanent glosses swatched here: http://www.temptalia.com/nars-lipglosses-swatches
Hi, thanks so much for the swatches, I live in Singapore and we dont get mac products launches at the same time as in US, so its really useful to refer to your blog before our launch date to know exactly what we should get .... thank you so much!! looking forward to getting some of the sets .....
I wish Electro Lush was an individual color! It’s so pretty but I only like 2 of the colors in the set :/
I have Pink Poodle sitting on my desk and I was like "Wow, Sassy Lassy looks EXACTLY like that!". Somehow I knew you would catch that (and note the differences!). I will note that PP looks more pigmented than Sassy Lassy on actual lips, but I have naturally bright pink lips so that may be the reason why. Thanks, Christine!
Holy crap! Electro Lush is so pretty! Too bad the rest of the colors don't really do anything for me. :/
I love them all except Electro Lush. That one is definitely not my color, but the rest are pretty cool. My fav is Sassi Lassy :)
I like all of them except for the last one... not sure how I could make it work, but definitely tempted to buy the set!
Do you know if these smaller tubes count towards the Back 2 Mac recycling program? If so, you get nearly a free product included in the price. Thanks for the great swatches!
sassy lassy looks stunning on you! thank you for selling me on this set, i had no prior intentions haha
Christine, congrats on that blogging Scholarship. Voted for you, and hope you win! Good luck. (told my peeps to vote for you) Great swatches, love Sassy Lassy.
If I buy one thing from this collection, it's this set I want. I'm a sucker for pink lipglasses and these are great colors!
Aahh everything looks amazing. Sassy Lassy and Frozen Dream look like they would be my favorites. I've been waiting a long time for these swatches, I couldn't find them anywhere else.
I dig Electro Lush and Sassy Lassy, but the others look blah. Too pale, I know they will make me look sickly. 2/5 is not enough for a buy, alas. I have yet to find anything in the Xmas collection I want : / I sort of want the Viva Glam lip bag, but prefer VI to V.
These are pretty cute, and for $30 for 5 colors, that's not bad. I don't really need them, especially sheer sparkly gloss. ^_^
I am not fan of pinks but I liked this colors. Do you think they would look good on warm olive skin tones?
So, I'm confused. I thought that this was supposed to be released online today, but I don't see it. Is it supposed to be released online next week or what? If anyone knows, help is much appriciated. Thanks!
Electro Lush looks amazing! Really like Sassy Lassy as well, but that one would be way too bright for me.
I like all of the colors except for The Wee Coquette. I don't love the tacky feel of Lip Glasses but these are LE shades and I know I personally don't have any dupes. Okay I think i might have just talked myself into purchasing... Thanks again for your swatches and info!
