MAC Mooncake Pro Longwear Paint Pot
MAC Mooncake Pro Longwear Paint Pot

MAC Mooncake Pro Longwear Paint Pot ($18.50 for 0.17 oz.) is described as a “warm beige.” It’s a golden beige with pale champagne sparkle and shimmer. I’m surprised MAC’s description didn’t mention any shimmer, pearl, or sparkle, because it is very sparkly. Urban Decay Space Cowboy is darker and more glittery. MAC Jaunty is lighter, less sparkly. MAC Summer Haze is more peach-hued and frosted. MAC Sweet Satisfaction is a bit browner and less shimmery. MAC Pure Flash is lighter.

It applied with mostly opaque color, but the glittery particles tended to cling to the lid and give it a crinkled look. The texture is fairly smooth and even, and it didn’t feel as gritty as some of the other more glittery Paint Pots have. The good news is that there is minimal fall out–I do get some, but it is more minor than it is a big deal and happened towards the end of the wear (the last two to three hours). Mooncake wore for ten hours without fading, but there was some faint creasing and minor fall out. It’s one of the better more sparkly shades of Paint Pots, but it still has some issues. I think those who love the sparkly Paint Pots will likely love this one too, but if you weren’t a fan of them previously, I don’t think this is going to convert you.

P.S. — Baking Beauties is now up on MAC! :)

Again, perfect for everyday makeup. Thank you Christine, this really help me for tomorrow. I won’t want to get so many things, because I am begining my mac brush collection, and need to get me some of those babies. Any recommendetion on face brushes! Thank you.

Christine is the texture of this one similar to Let’s Skate? I don’t mind the texture & wear of that but it’s the only sparkly paint pot I have to reference. Thank you for your reviews!

    • It’s not as gritty or as glittery – it’s generally a bit finer! If you don’t mind Let’s Skate, then I imagine you wouldn’t mind this one!

For those who feel like they’ve seen the Raspberry Swirl color a million times, I am so dog tired of this color. UD killed it, MAC killed it, it’s a very versatile shade I will NEVER use, but if I did how many of these would I have to have?

How does it compare to Bare Study paint pot?

  5. Angela

I’m disappointed. I thought this was going to be similar to Layin’ Low. Still pretty though.

Chrisitne, how does this compare to Maybelline’s Barely Branded Color Tattoo metal eyeshadow?

How does this compare to bare study???

Hey Christine, how would you compare this to vintage selection? Thanks!

I think I may try it. I’m going to wait until it’s released by Nordstrom though, just incase I want to send it back (MAC’s site made it seem like I’d have to pay for return shipping). I bought the pearlmatte (thanks for the link!!!!) already, but I’ve decided I’m in no rush for the rest. If they’re available great, if not I’ll get it the next time around- I’m learning there’s always a next time with MAC. :)

Hi CHristine, this looks to me , similar to Maybelline’s color tattoo in Barely Branded, would you be able to say?????

  11. How does this compare to Chanel Emerveille? Thank you!

  12. It’s such a gorgeous color! Too bad the sparkles get in the way though. I think shimmer would have been a much better choice for this product rather than the glitter.

  13. I think this would be nice for people who love Bare Study. Far too frosty for me (the paint pots & frost-finish are a nightmare on my eyelids)

  14. I love this color! But I wish it had an A rating. I’m not in the mood to deal with a bad Paint Pot lol.

How does it compare to Maybelline’s Color Tattoo in Barely Beige? Thanks!
