MAC Eclair Pro Longwear Paint Pot Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC Eclair Pro Longwear Paint Pot ($18.50 for 0.17 oz.) is described as a “light chocolate with gold pearl.” It’s a warm-toned, bronzy brown with copper and bronze shimmer. MAC Indianwood is more golden, less red-toned. Chanel Intuition is more frosted and a powder product. MAC Mulch is slightly less red-toned and a powder eyeshadow. Giorgio Armani #28 is browner. Benefit Dandy Brandy is less warm-toned and a powder eyeshadow.

Now, THIS is the kind of shade that embodies what made MAC Paint Pots famous in the first place. Eclair is creamy without being too thin or too thick–creamy without being slick, slippery, or so creamy that the color creases before it has a chance to set. It sets quickly, but it has just enough give to be blendable along the edges. The color payoff is top notch with full color coverage–and if you really want subtler color, apply very little and blend with a fluffy brush or fingertip (which tends to be better, as the warmth of your finger keeps the product more movable). It lasted ten hours without creasing or fading (no primer).

I expected this to be a much lighter color so now it doesn’t fill a whole in my collection enough to warrant a purchase. It looks too similar to Chanel Ébloui, which is a little redder than this but shows up like this on me.

How curious. I have Ebloui as well and it’s so purple I would never think it would look similar with a brown paint pot, In fact I’ve been looking for a paint pot exactly like this one, for my non-pink toned makeup days (I wear almost exclusively pink and brown toned eyeshadows). 🙂

At first glance I thought this would be a perfect dupe for Estee Lauder’s Shadow Paint in “Chained” which I am planning to buy; but this is darker.

At first glance I didn’t think I’d like this but seeing it on your eye really makes me want it now! I just bought the new Moondust shadow from UD in diamond dog which looks online like it would be similar but ill reconsider once it gets here. I like the idea of a darker paint pot that I can use for a quick smoldering look without having to layer & blend forever.

I was seriously considering purchasing this paint pot. I have a planned MAC product haul for April 11th. Perfect timing. Love the color. Thanks Christine!

Hey Christine!

Would you say that this is the same color as Benefit’s “My Two Cents” Creaseless Cream Shadow. I really loved the color of the Benefit product but wasn’t too sure about the formula. This just might be what I’ve been looking for !

Thanks in advance !

Would you recommend just having Eclair and skip Constructivist then? I have Eclair and love it, but I am trying to figure out the MAIN difference for Constructivist, the shimmer sometimes is too much on some of the paint pots. I can always add more on top with a pigment or shadow if needed, hard to eliminate it though…

This looks lovely, but as with the other colors I think I’ll wait until it’s up on other sites. I’m new to the paint pots so I won’t really be missing out if it sells out. I tired Vintage Selection at the beginning of the week and it’s already gone back. I ordered Rubenseque as a replacement and tried it for the first time today- I love it! If this color is anything like that I’m excited to try it.

What a stunning shade. I thought it’d probably get a low rating because, whenever there’s a particularly lovely shade, it seems that it usually just so happens that it doesn’t perform that great… so I am pleasantly surprised at the A+!

I bought this paint pot yesterday. Very pretty! Much more shimmery, coppery and warmer than Groundwork. I haven’t worn it yet, but its very pretty on its own and looks like it will enhance warm eyeshadows.

It’s everything I wanted it to be. I have been looking for this for so long. It’s similar to teddy eyeliner in a shadow form. Even better since its one step, and it makes my eyes look super warm and lighter brown!

I picked this up a couple of days ago after reading your review and I love it! it’s my go to base for a smokey brown eye 😀 it’s my first ever mac paint pot too. I was gonna pass this one up but I’m a sucker for brown paints/shadows. thanks for the review<3! I wouldn't have known about it if I didn't see it on your blog!

I compared your swatches of eclair and busy signal from benefit and they seemed to be much alike. I own busy signal but if they’re pretty much the same, I’ll skip on Eclair! Does anyone own both and can let me know? Thanks!
