Chanel SoHo de Chanel Highlighter & Blush
Chanel SoHo Le Vernis: Should You?
Chanel SoHo de Chanel Highlighter & Blush ($65.00 for 0.45 oz.) is the star of the collection, is it not? It’s easily the prettiest, with the raised SoHo lettering and design of the powder. It has three distinct shades: rosy brown (it doesn’t read plum on me, though Chanel describes it as such), pale powder pink (but don’t expect to use that shade on its own–it’s such a thin strip!), and satiny pale white with subtle pink undertones (this is the highlighter). If you mix them altogether, the result is a lightly shimmered, glowy mix of muted rose.
Surprisingly, it swatches rather sheerly, but it applied much better with a blush brush on my cheeks–it was more pigmented than I anticipated (based on the subtler swatches). I actually loved the luminous sheen in the finish when they were swirled together–it’s glowy and rosy without being too pink. It is on the cooler side, but I think it still worked on my warmer skin tone, because it does have a touch of brown in it.
You could use the blush/highlighter shades separately if so desired, as both pieces are large enough to do so. The highlighter has such a fine sheen that I could see it being dusted all over as a finishing powder. Overall, the powder applied really smoothly and evenly, and it was a cinch to blend out.
At $65, it’s not exactly a necessity item, but Chanel packed a surprising amount of product into this compact–a whopping 0.45 oz.–as compared to their blushes which weigh in at a mere 0.14 oz. By the ounce, it’s cheaper than NARS, can you believe it? This is one of those rare moments in beauty where I’m awarding Chanel 10/10 on value!

RECOMMENDATION: Chanel collectors should be pleased with the way SoHo looks and feels but also how smoothly it applies. For those less motivated by the brand itself, if you pick it up, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed–but don’t sell a kidney for it or anything!

I think that while the colors are really gorgeous…im a blush addict and the little that is even offered in the pkg i would use it up in less than a week…especially the rosy brown and pale powder pink for the fall!
Little? It’s over double the size of a normal blush?!
Ugh, it’s so gorgeous that if I bought it, I don’t think I’d be able to use it. It looks too pretty in the pan!
I’m sad that this won’t be released in Canada although I’ve been hearing rumors that this collection will eventually trickle down onto counters sometime in October. Just a rumor though -_-. I already have the Stunning Rouge Coco and Star Glossimer but I should’ve ordered this too, grr. Looks gorgeous on you Christine!
Thank you, Julie! I’ve heard those rumors, too, so we shall see!
I really have to visit my local Chanel counter! Jeez!
Only available online and at SoHo Boutique 🙁
The Nordstrom in Seattle, WA is getting this collection sometime in October I was told by the SA in downtown. Not sure if other Nordies will have the collection though?! I’m sure some will 🙂
I haven’t heard anything, but the info I have is from Chanel and just lists chanel.com & SoHo!
nordstrom seattle will be getting it also….would this work on me i am nw45
i menat to write the entire soho collection
I think it’ll be more highlight than blush, so it depends if that’s what you’re looking for!
Christine, I feel that it looks like stereo rose on you
I don’t, haha. Stereo Rose makes me look rather sunburnt!
Hi Christine! I’m a big fan of your site and your tutorials. I just want to say that the angle of the first full-face photo is much improved — I can fully appreciate the way your eye make up looks (gorgeous, btw) with your eyes open compared with the the usual angle where the contour of your brow bone pretty much obscures the look. Thanks for all your hard work, though admittedly, it’s got to be fun!
Thank you, Pia!
this seems really 80s to me, but in a good way like a nod to the decade. I dunno why i really think that though! I think its pretty but not really my thing, i don’t like the rosy brown bit
I understand it’s technically cheaper than NARS…however, i actually prefer less product w/a slightly higher price in terms of ounce. I just know I’ll never finish a .45 oz. blush being that I’m always building my collection & always on the lookout for new releases & limited editions as seasons change.
I’d love this, but it’s not available in the UK I don’t think. Hohum.
Ooh I really love your makeup here, very alluring.
Thank you, Ashley!
The Chanel Boutique in San Francisco will have this collection in Mid October. I believe Nordstrom will carry it as well in Mid October.
Thanks for letting us know, Cynthia!
This looks really nice on you 🙂
Thanks, Vesna!
Im so loving this blush! i love blushes a little too pricey for me any dupes or similar product for this ?
Maybe NARS Torrid!
It looks intimidating just at first, but the swatches look great! So my guess is that it can work on fair skin tones? 😀
Yes!
i was actually a little surprised to find this along with the rest of Soho at my local counter.. it’s also back online o_o
