Chanel Rouge Cocos: Chintz, Rose Dentelle, Chalys
Rouge Coco is Sweet on Summer, Still
With Chanel’s fall collection, we’ll see an introduction of three new and permanent additions to the Rouge Coco ($30.00) line-up: Chintz (peach rose), Rose Dentelle (rose pink), and Chalys (luminous coral). These three shades pair well with the darker, smokier Enigma eyeshadow quad, but they’re also ridiculously perfect for summer. Considering these launch in July (officially! word on the counter is it’s already popping up at some locations), that’s a very, very good thing.
- Chintz is a peach nude with a subtle hint of rose. It has a barely there shimmer-frost finish with semi-opaque color. I can see this being a great shade to pair with dark smoky eyes or a stronger cheek.
- Rose Dentelle is a soft neutral rose with a part glossy, part frosty finish. It has light shimmer of iridescent lilac and pink that flash when the light hits your lips just right. Like Chintz, it gives nearly opaque coverage but not quite. Chintz and Rose Dentelle look very, very similar when swatched on skin, but they look more distinct on lips.
- Chalys is a darkened coral with a stronger orange tone. It has the same half-glossy, half-shimmery finish that most Rouge Cocos have. I found Chalys to be more opaque than the other two, which was nice.
Admittedly, I am a huge fan of summery shades–I’m always drawn to them. These shades feel very summer to me, though they’ll certainly pair well with fall’s more dramatic eyes and cheeks and be a nice reprieve from the darker, vampier lip trend we always see pop up in the season.
I like the Rouge Coco formula a lot–it feels incredibly lightweight on lips without being drying. They’re not the most moisturizing lipsticks, but they’ve never deprived my lips of their natural moisture, either. Each shade applied smoothly, evenly, and didn’t require a lot of product to get a good amount of color coverage. I also find these shades to be practical and wearable, but they’re not boring either.
Which of the new Rouge Cocos is your favorite?

RECOMMENDATION: For a lightweight lipstick that still packs a good punch of color, Rouge Coco makes a good choice. If you’re jonesing for new-for-fall products but still want summer wearability, these shades are right on the money. You could probably opt for Chintz or Rose Dentelle rather than both, but if you’re a fan of lighter lip shades, you may find it hard to resist getting both!

sorry but whay paying so much for lipsticks that almost don´t appear in your lips =p? that´s senseless to me =p!! that´s why i always prefer dark colors, they worth what i pay for them X3 hehehehe
I'm really in love with Chintz! <3 I just wish I was Rouge Allure since I really prefer that formula over the Rouge Coco one. Hmm, gotta do some thinking before my next shopping trip...
Hi Christine! I was staring at Rose Dentelle for little while trying to figure out where I had seen this color before. It looks very similar to the Rouge Allure in Incognito! I compared both swatches side by side and it seems that Rose Dentelle is just a smidgen paler. What do you think? = )
Hi! I just purchased mademoiselle and muse recently! I love mademoiselle but I found muse to be a little darker than it looked when i tried it in the chanel counter. I wonder which would look better on my tan asian skin, chintz or rose dentelle?
Hi Christine, What would you recommend,, Chanel Rouge Coco or Dolce and Gabbana Cream Lipsticks? I'm in Italy now and planning to get one of the 2. :-) thanks!
Ooh, that's tough. For more wearable color, Rouge Coco... for something with more pop, Dolce & Gabbana. I'd also say Dolce & Gabbana knowing the distribution is a lot more limited than Chanel!
How do you think Rose Dentelle compares to Korres lipstick in Natural Pink (it was part of the spring season)? I'm seriously lemming the Chanel (even at £21.50!) but I bought the Korres after seeing your post and now think they might be similar, which explains why I love the Chanel!
Argh- I'm now lemming Chintz! Any good dupes you can think of? Or at least colours in the same family? Thanks =]
I have one question regarding the sweating of the lipsticks? Is it dangerous? Does it mean the lipstick it ruined? Because I just bought the new Chanel Darling lipstick and it has the little "sweat" beads on and now I'm worried that I'm stuck with a ruined product :S
Thanks! I read somewhere that it's not good, but my lipstick is totally ok, so I wasn't sure what to think (well that, and I panic quickly XD).
Hi Girl, Chintz looks especially great on you! Thanks for the revies. I am looking forward to the Glossimers as the Cocos are a bit too pigmented and a tad too frosty for me.
WOW, the first two looks with the light pink lipsticks, can I just say how freaking lovely you look? I am going to have to try it myself!
Christine- can you tell me what store has these already? I called a few Nordstoms and they say they wont have these until Mid July. I would love to get a couple of the lippies and the eyeshadows.
It seems to totally depends -- I don't think it's in-store near me. I know mine puts it out whenever they receive stock in, and they usually don't know for sure when they'll get it.
At first I was going to state that they're TOO subtle, but Chintz just gives such a lovely, perfecting look to the lip. I'm VERY tempted to pick that up in the near future.
Chintz for sure. But these would looke super dull on me. I am just too pale to pull off a colour like that. :( To be honest, these days, I don't really know WHAT look I actually could pull off! I look dull and plain with everything. sigh. That too shall pass. I hope! :)
I LOVE the Chanel Rouge Coco lipsticks, and these new colours look like must-haves for winter. Why oh why is Chanel always just so good??
Hi Christine, any chance you'd do a swatch comparison with Darling Rouge Allure? It looks like Darling could be pretty similar to Rose Dentelle! Gorgeous swatches, by the way, and thanks :)
Are your lipsticks sweating? It looks to me like there are beads of oil on them. What does that mean and how does it happen?
They are! Lipsticks can do that when there are changes in temperature. These literally arrived about 5 minutes before I snapped photos! It's totally not harmful, doesn't damage the lipsticks, etc.
Hi Christine, I need your help! Most of my lipsticks are mac but I'm interested in trying higher end brands, and I want to invest my money in a good choice. What brand/formula would you say is the most moisturizing? Which is the most pigmented? Since ideally I'm looking for a lipstick that is both very moisturizing and very pigmented, which would you say embodies both qualities the best? TIA - you are always so helpful and kind to take the time to respond!!
I would say Chanel Rouge Allures are quite good for moisturizing with good pigmentation, but Guerlain Rouge Gs are the best on both--though very pricey. A high-end, but not designer, would be Laura Mercier's Creme Lip Colour.
