Chanel Rouge Byzantin Rouge Allure Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as “an iridescent ruby red with a hint of sapphire, for a rich, jewel-toned lip look.” On me, it’s a rich, pinked red with ruby micro-shimmer. It delivers nearly opaque color and even coverage. There is subtle iridescent sheen–looks almost fuchsia to me–that pops at a distance. It’s a very holiday-esque red to me. It’s bright and joyous, but the depth of the color gives it a luxurious richness.
Rouge Allure is a lovely formula–rich in color, moisturizing, and longer-wearing. I typically get five to six hours of wear, but with an intense shade of red like this, it tends to wear just past six. The color didn’t bleed or fade unevenly, either, which is excellent when you wear a high maintenance color like red.
It’s pinker and bluer than Chanel Lover, and similar but deeper than Dior Technicolor Red. You can see side-by-side comparisons here.

Blue-based reds are best on cooler skin tones, but the underlying pinkness to this red will make it wearable on warmer skin tones as well.

beautiful color! Can you maybe do a post on your favorite balms/ lip treatments. your lips are so smooth and not dried out at all, even though you are constantly putting on and trying out different lip products!
Jack Black Lip Balm is the only thing I'd use by preference - anything else I'm only using to test.

I rotate in a new product in every 2-3 weeks (so I don't change it all at once). I'm not currently testing anything by Renee Rouleau. The reason I do not talk about what products I'm testing is because I don't commit to reviewing any of them - so I don't want to get anyone's hopes up and disappoint them if I do not review. Sorry!

This color is gorgeous! I'm pretty fair (NW15) with red hair and blue eyes and I have been trying to find the perfect blue-based red for AGES. Closes I've come is MAC's Russian Red and Ruby Woo but they are so drying (especially Ruby Woo as I know you have noted a bunch). So This one may be my Holy Grail! Since it's limited addition I wonder how much time I have to snatch this up....thank you SO much Christine as always!!!!

I just got mine in the mail yesterday -- I'm a MUFE HD 110 (according to Christine's chart that's NW10 or NW15) with blue-green eyes -- and Byzantin looks amazing on! It's hard to explain, but it just seems "right" with my coloring. It's completely unlike any red I own (and I have way too many) -- but the finish of reminds me a bit of a cool-toned version of Kat Von D's Adora. It's completely gorgeous and would probably look stunning on you :)
