Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in Excessive, Emotive Review, Photos, Swatches

Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick: Excessive (67), Emotive (68)

Gotta Love the Richness of Fall

If you thought Chanel was skimping on the darker, vampier shades for fall… not so!  Part of the launch of the new Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss, there are a few new shades of Rouge Allure Lipsticks being launched alongside as well.  Rouge Allure Lipsticks ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) are some of my favorites, because they pack a lot of color in a standout formula:  moisturizing, lightweight, and long-wearing.  I typically get four to five hours of wear, sometimes five to six, with some of the bolder shades (like these).

  • Excessive is this vibrant cherry red with slight blue undertones with a glossy, opaque finish.
  • Emotive is a raspberry pink with a slight fuchsia sheen.  It’s not quite opaque, but it does deliver a fair amount of color coverage.  I found Emotive a little less glossy than Excessive, so it didn’t quite apply as smoothly.

Ooh, they look stunning on you!
So tempted to get my paws on a Chanel lippie!

  3. Julie says:

I am so excited for the Extrait de Gloss and the new shades of Rouge Allure! I hope you’ll be able to review them for us =D. Red is always of course, gorgeous on you!

  4. elizabeth says:

WOW how beautiful! Those shades really look lovely on you too!!!

  5. Adhya says:

Emotive looks absolutely stunning on you but somehow fuchsia never looks that incredible on me or maybe m still scared to pull off really bright neon shades..It seems a bit similar to Mac Petals and Peacocks to me .

  6. Andrea says:

I really like both of these, (and they looking gorgeous on you, as usual!) but I have never bought a Chanel lipstick as they cost £22.50 ($35.00) here in the UK, and I think, well I could pretty much buy 2 MAC lipsticks for that! Do you think they are worth it?

I can’t wait till the new glosses hit Nordstrom and also checking out the new Rogue Allure lipstick shades! It seems like I have been waiting so long since I heard the news – sometime in July. I am losing patience :-( I could purchase online but I need to see the actual product, plus Chanel is horrible when it comes to the actual color of the gloss/lipstick.

    • mylinda says:

I feel exactly the same way! It’s hard to pick when you can’t see the actual product and I feel like I’ve been waiting for these forever. I was hoping Christine would review Confidentielle though, since that’s what I’d been eyeing. Any chance, Christine?

  8. Naïade says:

The Emotive lipstick is very gorgeous :)

  9. Steph2 says:

Emotive is a gorgeous raspberry shade! Thanks for reviewing these lipsticks! I have been waiting to see a swatch of Emotive for a while.

  10. Laura says:

Christine how do you get your lips so perfect for every picture? Old posts looked good but maybe still a little feathery around the edges, but now your lipstick always looks immaculate and I don’t see any lip liner! Can you make a video on how you do it?

    • Christine says:

Practice makes perfect! It’s really about learning your lip shape, and you figure out where you’re not doing things right – I have probably swatched somewhere in the 500s of lipsticks/glosses!

      • Etaoin says:

i agree with laura! close ups are generally unforgiving but yours look amazing! i always hit outside my lip line with a really bright lipstick and then the whole look is messy no matter what i do. I’m sure i do need more practice cause i’ve only started wearing lipstick in the last year or so. I remember when my eyeliner used to be so crooked but now i think i have it downpat!

        • Christine says:

Once you start taking close-ups, you really see what’s going on and kind of figure out where you need to be more careful at! It’s definitely a practice thing :)

  11. Amal says:

    emotive is so ‘me’

  12. Ashley D. says:

    Emotive is gorgeous.

  13. Stephanie says:

How would you compare Emotive and Passion (#14)?

  14. Isabell says:

I bought the 66 CONFIDENTIELLE which is a really nice shade to wear its a warm rose color with i would say sth. like satin sheen…
if anyone is interessted i could upload a picture

  15. latindolll4 says:

    Hi Christine,

I am a big fan of Chanel’s Rouge Allure Lipstick and I have them in both packaging . I’m not sure but it seems as though the colors that come in this particular casing have less product. Am i incorrect? I love Excessive so much I will probably end up picking it up anyways but I wanted to be sure.

    Thank you !
