Zoya Blu Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches
Zoya Blu Nail Lacquer
A Blu for Spring
Zoya Blu Nail Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “lucky hyacinth blue cream.” It’s a pale sky blue with a cream finish. There’s a real softness to the color, and there’s also an almost indigo-tint that makes it less overtly blue. NARS Kutki is bluer, slightly darker. Cult Nails Princess is much, much darker and has shimmer, but the tone of the blue is similar. Chanel Coco Blue is much darker. Chanel Riva is more aqua.
The consistency of Blu is incredible; for such a pale, pastel-colored polish, you’d normally get a streaky finish–at the very least, with the first coat. Blu is beautiful even with the first coat, and it’s so, so pigmented. It was very nearly opaque after one coat, but I found two to be perfect for fully opaque, smooth color. The consistency wasn’t too thick or thin, though it’s slightly thicker than the average polish, which many Zoya creams are. I didn’t experience bubbling or pooling of the polish along the edges of my nails, and this polish self-leveled nicely, too. I typically find that Zoya’s polish wears for a week with minor tip wear but no chipping.

illamasqua caress is also a good dupe for this!
I need to get Zoya’s spring collection! Its so beautiful. But Zoya is impossible to get here in Norway 🙁
I love light blue on my nails, especially my toes! I will be getting this Icy Blue for sure. I love how creamy it is.
How similar is this to Essie’s Bikini So Teeny?
From what I can tell, Essie is darker!
And to me a cooler blue.
I love Zoya’s nail polishes. They just work the best for me–great formula, and the brush is just the right size for me to use. I’ve never had one I didn’t like!
WAUW! Their entire spring collection is nothing but pretty pretty pretty! 😀
I think I’m going to order this color and ‘Jacqueline’
A very special shade. I am kind of intrigued by it. And I usually don’t like pastels.
I really didn’t think I was going to like this one, but omg it looks amazing!
This color is perfect for Spring ! Love it!
I really love this; it’s not chalky at all, just a perfect pale blue.
Now I am REALLY glad that I did buy that. Gah. That’s almost white-out pale which would look horrendous on me.
That said, I am amazed at how well it applied, so kudos to Zoya for where it’s due.
This will be in my hands Tuesday! Now I’m even happier I ordered it.
Pastels don’t go that well with my skin tone but I keep buying it hoping lol. This is a lovely shade and will give it a try. Haven’t tried such a light pastel blue before so it should be interesting.
I might pick this one up… It’s pretty much what I wanted Revlon’s Blue Lagoon to be.
I love it, it looks just like Essie “Borrowed and Blue”
Zoya’s spring collection is so gorgeous!
This is such a gorgeous shade for spring! I definitely need this one–don’t have anything like it in my collection!
opaque pastels never seem to work on me…the edges are never perfect enough for my ocd, lol.
I love it! Surprising that it isn’t streaky at all!
All these beautiful pastel polishes are getting me excited for spring!
It’s amazing that it doesn’t streak, zoya is awesome.
wow there’s a lot of white in this! i love it. i was worried from the press photos that it might be similar to zoya kristen, but i see now that it’s definitely not the case. i wonder how similar this is to deborah lippmann’s let’s hear it for the boy? would love to hear your thoughts – thanks! 🙂
I need this in my life
I’m in love with this colour. This looks a lot like Jessica’s Barley Blueberry which I already own, so my wallet is spared.
Thanks for the review and swatches!
Lovely color!! I even want to own a dress of the same color, may be I should start with the nail polish first 🙂
omg I need to get this one!
Sold. Definitely purchasing this one!
Would you say it’s close to MAC Hyperion?
Hyperion is darker and has more green in it!
Just Got this one! Too gorgeous pass up”
