Zoya’s summer collection, Bubbly, features six shades with holographic sparkle, and this is a review of three of those shades. I’m usually drawn to Zoya’s summer collection, because they have such a magical sparkle to them. This year was no exception in that regard, though opacity was lacking. Two shades were less pigmented than described, and they would need at least three coats or underwear to achieve full coverage. The formula was slightly thin but not watery or difficult to apply, and I had exceptionally good wear out of this finish from Zoya. (Keep in mind, however, that almost nothing chips on me.)

Zoya Binx Nail Lacquer ($9.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “spicy orchid purple dappled with gold metallic and holo sparkles.” It’s a brightened, medium pink with gold shimmer and holographic sparkle. It was mostly opaque after two coats, but it had a bit of translucency and visible nail line. Zoya lists the intensity as 3 (with 5 being opaque), but then the description says it has 2-coat coverage and the brand-provided swatch shows opaque color. This shade wore well for almost ten days with minor tip wear when I tested it. Formula X Astrolady (P, $12.50) is lighter. Illamasqua Fire Rose (P, $17.00) is warmer, less holographic. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Zoya Stassi Nail Lacquer ($9.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “brilliant citron green with a gold metallic glaze and holographic finish.” It’s a medium, yellow-toned green with gold shimmer and holographic sparkle. It was semi-sheer after I applied two coats, though the color went on evenly. Zoya lists the intensity as 3 (with 5 being opaque), but then the description says it has 2-coat coverage and the brand-provided swatch shows opaque color. China Glaze This is Tree-mendous (LE, $7.50) is more glittery. Zoya Rikki (P, $9.00) is darker, cooler-toned, different finish. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Zoya Muse Nail Lacquer ($9.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “blue raspberry holographic fizz with a subtle vein of gold.” It’s a medium-dark blue with aqua green and gold shimmer and holographic micro-glitter. It was semi-opaque after two coats, but there was visible nail line. If you want more opaque color, I think you would need three coats. Zoya lists the intensity as 3 (with 5 being opaque), but then the description says it has 2-coat coverage and the brand-provided swatch shows opaque color. This shade wore well for ten days with minor tip wear but no chipping. Revlon Radiant (LE, $4.99) reminded me of the glittery bits but is almost clear in color (more of a top coat). Zoya Maisie (P, $9.00) has similar holographic sparkle but isn’t the same. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Hi Christine,

The links lead to Essie polishes, which are 8.5$, but Zoya’s are up to 9$. Btw, I owe you for bringing Zoya into my life, so thanks 🙂

It surprised me too, but in a good way. Sometimes I like a sparkly, semi-sheer look. It can be so pretty, almost jewel-like. I like this collection better than Zoya’s spring collection, and I LOVED that!

I really like Binx, and Stassi seems like almost the perfect ‘Tinkerbell’ polish, but I feel like I would have to layer Muse over something to be totally happy with it… 😉

Also, the first time I read the green polish name, I thought it was called ‘Stasi’ for a second, which gave me pause! I was like ‘WHUUUUUT?!’ – but then I read it more carefully 😛

Such pretty shades and Stassi looks so different (in a nice way)! But anytime I see glitter all I can think of is the pain that’s involved in removing the colour later. What pray tell is your secret to non-chipping nailpolish Christine?:s Almost everything chips on my within a few days …love me a good Shellac manicure because of this!

No secret, unfortunately! I don’t use base or top coats, and that’s the wear that results. I take zero precautions in maintaining a manicure (I still do dishes, scratch labels off, open and break down boxes, open things with my nails, etc.), but it just doesn’t chip on me.

Yes! Greens and blues!!! No candy yum yum! How many more months of radiant orchid? I feel badly for any child whose parents painted their room in that shade. Poor baby. This year has ruined a beloved color if mine. Never thought it could happen.. Steer to reds, peaches, purples, duochromes, blues, greens! Thank you. 🙂
