YSL Singuliere (1) Blush Volupte ($47.00 for 0.31 oz.) is a soft, light-medium pink with subtle, cool undertones and a satiny finish. Makeup Geek Head Over Heels (P, $9.99) is brighter. Dior My Lady (002) (LE, $60.00) is pinker. Make Up For Ever #210 HD Blush (P, $26.00) is brighter, cream. Givenchy It-Girl Purple (P, $44.00) is cooler-toned, more matte. MAC Dame (P, $21.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

YSL’s description of the formula is mostly fluff: “pure color and light heart,” and “freed of of opaque powders, color expresses itself without any constraint.” Sephora’s description is the easiest to understand, as it says it offers “intense color payoff” with a “silky finish.” The blush can be applied swirled together, which is the most practical way, or you can use the center shade, which is lighter, for highlighting. The center is less than a 1″ square, so it is quite small, and you’ll probably need to use a large eye brush to use it without getting the outer color mixed in with it. The texture is silky and velvety–finely-milled and smooth–but the color payoff isn’t intense. It’s moderately pigmented and builds to semi-opaque color payoff at most. If you love sheerer blushes that you never have to worry about going overboard with, you may like this shade, because the finish is lovely on the skin: lightly luminous, doesn’t emphasize pores, and is easy to blend and apply. On me, the blush lasted for eight hours before fading slightly.

I love YSL stuff generally, and this looks pretty, but I think I’d go for a brighter shade 🙂

Am I the only one who still can’t decide if she finds the YSL packaging really luxe or a little bit tacky? I mean, every time I take out my powder foundation (which is apparently bottomless, by the way – woohoo! considering the price :-D), I have to think about it…

Not really a pressing problem to have in life, but it bothers the beauty addict/nitpicker in me, LOL!

Oh, my! Christine, you look positively a glowing ingenue. You’re gorgeous. You truly seem as if you just stepped in the sun or had some happy adult fun! Hair: softening affect. I can’t justify paying for any more blushes, though I’m good at it, lol, but this one really flatters you! The most wondrous thing about the blush is how NATURAL it looks.. That’s quality. How do you feel this compares twitch MAC, HOURGLASS, Becca.. Etc? MUG- Are they really the “I can die,” blush? Your look in this is how I feel natural beauty looks in a no makeup makeup look. Thanks for the reference of your skintone as well, great to be cautious of! And I’m pleased to say my skin, fingers crossed, is concretely smooth and on it’s way quickly back! I switched to Korean products to feed the skin and counteract the abrasiveness of treatment yet still use some intertwined.. Miracle HG products for me right now. Upon research, I found your site having people make comments about specific lines in particular and it was reassuring in the process. Totally want to see the slimmer vice 3 swatched! Lastly, thdtclipcolor is a perfect YLBB TYPE THING. Glowing. Lovely! 🙂

Probably more like running around without a head, because I think this was while I was tackling MAC Simpsons/Artificially Wild 😉 Of MAC, Hourglass, Becca, and Makeup Geek, the texture is most similar to Hourglass.

Happy to hear your skin is doing better! 🙂

So strange.. Looking at pan pictures, I expected something like a warm dusty rose.. and yet it is cool in your swatches and on your face. I picked up #3 in this formula which is also pink, but brighter. I like the subtle texture and sheerness..it would be difficult to over do it. The description as ‘intense colour payoff’ is not accurate from my experience, but that is not necessarily a bad thing either. When it comes to intense colour payoff, Makeup Geek blushes are right up there. They are dense and heavily pigmented and a little goes a long, long, looong way. I have to be careful with application. On the other hand, this formula to me is quite the reverse. The pigmentation is there, but sheerer, and diffusing the blush is very easy. No fever cheeks!

I really, really love this one, but I just can’t right now… I just dropped over $100 on blush last weekend, and I have 4 bins overflowing with cheek products, including several pale pinks.
