YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick Swatches (Spring 2019)
YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick ($38.00 for 0.11 oz.) saw a shade extension of at least 12 shades (at least, what was available at Neiman Marcus when I purchased them; Sephora has less, YSL shows a couple more I don’t recognize), which I’ve swatched for you in this post…
A lovely shade range, but they do look more shearer in the swatches that what I would think by looking just at the lip shades. It will be interesting to see how they rate.
Okay, so these *look* very nice on, but the oil part has me concerned about weartime and potential for feathering. This is a formula I have not yet tried before, so I haven’t a clue!
That aside; Orange Crepe looks like a great summer shade for a quick slick of color!
They are pretty long lasting wear time.and nice. I bought one a few years back and still have a lot of it left. I love the formula . The pix the shades look so similar but the swatches look a bit varied. I have a nude which is divine.
Oh good pigment and no feathering I have 3 of them.
I like these. This kind of finish seems much more smoothing and blurring on the lips than any powdery one.
Love them all. I wouldn’t purchase 86, 87, 88 as they would not work with my coloring.
I know this formula is divisive (due to the sheer/ slippery nature and shorter wear time)… I for one LOVE it. I speak a lot in my job, and these never get gross at the corners of my mouth (unlike most fully opaque, dense lipsticks). These wear beautifully and reapply/ layer easily, with or without mirror. Best of all, they don’t dry my lips out and feel soothing in the dry winter air! This formula allows me to indulge my lust for reds and hot pinks in a work appropriate way. The slightly jelly-like quality also makes me more comfortable with nude shades that, at full opacity, make me look dead (AHEM, BITE Beauty…).
I much prefer the YSL Rouge Volupte formula to YSL’s Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks, so if the latter is your favorite… well, these might not be. I’m the kind of person who prefers Guerlain’s KissKiss to the Rouge G formula, so there we are.
Based on the previous release of this formula, I’m going to want a few more. They are moisturizing and wear a lot like a lipgloss or a more pigmented lip balm. I happen to like the scent as well. I’m especially intrigued by the few shades that have a bit of sparkle in them.
These look really pretty! I love that brands are coming out with more glossy lip tints to set off the massive matte liquid lipstick trend over the last few years.
I absolutely love this formula and had been hoping they would have a shade extension. I think I’ll get a shade between 88-90 (Rose Nu, Rose Blazer, Plum Tunique). They are so hydrating and I love their look!
Day 14 of my “replacement products only” resolution and I’m already feeling temptation. There are no shades here that I need, but there are several that I want, especially Rose Blazer and Plum Tunique. I don’t own any YSL lipsticks and I kind of love this over-the-top packaging. But I have to turn away and stick to my resolution. (For awhile, at least.)
I really like the last three shades.
Are you planning on reviewing the previous shades in the range too?
Sorry, I couldn’t afford to purchase all of them.
