YSL Psychedelic Chili & 1966 Rouge Libre Slim Matte Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Psychedelic Chili (416)
YSL Psychedelic Chili (416) Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Matte Lipstick ($39.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a deep copper-red with subtle,w arm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single layer, which was easily built up to full coverage with less than a second layer. The consistency was smooth, velvety, and moderately dense with a very lightweight feel that didn’t slide around during wear. It wore nicely for six and a half hours and felt non-drying.

Formula Overview
$39.00/0.08 oz. - $487.50 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be "weightless" and "non-drying" that "stays put all day" with "high-pigmented matte color." The texture has a smooth, velvety consistency--it glided on readily but didn't feel wet or traditionally creamy, more like a silicone-based primer. The majority of the shades applied evenly, didn't separate along my lip lines, and were lightweight and comfortable to wear.
The pigmentation was mostly opaque to opaque, and the shade range seemed to pull more mid-tone and deeper with a fair number of red-based shades. As a result, numerous shades lasted six hours or longer with red-based shades leaving very strong stains behind (even into the next day, my lips were often pink-to-fuchsia!). Some shades seemed to go on and on and on because of the color itself and the underlying staining power! The formula was non-drying as promised.
The diamond-shaped bullet may take a use or two to get the hang of, but I didn't find it difficult to use at all. The triangular point did work particularly well for getting a sharper cupid's bow shape, if desired. The formula had a floral scent that was barely detectable while on and no discernible taste.

1966 Rouge Libre
YSL 1966 Rouge Libre Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Matte Lipstick ($39.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a brighter, medium-dark orange-red with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation paired with a moderately-dense, more velvety texture that glided on comfortably but felt thinner (but not clingy) and very lightweight. The product stayed on well for five and a half hours and felt neither drying nor hydrating over time.

1966 Rouge Libre. Arguably the start of the free decade, will spare you why. Those of us who felt insufficiently brave or sophisticated (🙁😆😆😆that was all of us graduating from HS that year) wore Revlon Naked Pink (still around, I think.) I was already not a pink person and wore Dior’s Tomorrow’s Beige, a frost-ish light beige that was certainly NOT the mid 60s pale, matte Mary Quant type shade. Shades like the Dior came back in the 90s. Thank god the pale mattes never fully resurfaced. I think I need this one and have no dupes.
CP’s Foolish is a pretty close and far less expensive dupe for these kjh.
Psychodelic Chili! What a name!
YSL must have some sort of obsession with this family of lipstick color. So many coppery and orange reds.
Yup. And I wish I could catch ‘em all. These and the Armani liquids.
These are gorgeous shades and I love them both – although they are very similar to each other. But I have CP’s Foolish, which is a close dupe to them.
