YSL Fuchsia Tourbillon & Rose Neillia Rouge Volupte Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches

YSL Fuchsia Tourbillon (31) Rouge Volupte Lipstick

YSL Fuchsia Tourbillon (31) Rouge Volupte Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a medium, fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a glossy, creamy finish. It had rich, opaque color coverage in a single stroke. The consistency is on the thicker side relative to the average lipstick, but it doesn’t feel heavy–and better, it doesn’t look it. The color applied smoothly and evenly, and it wore well for four and a half hours and left behind a subtle stain. It was moderately hydrating while worn. NARS Full Frontal (LE, $26.00) is cooler-toned, less pink, less glossy. Urban Decay Anarchy (P, $22.00) is brighter, darker. Maybelline Electric Fuchsia (LE, $7.49) is brighter, cooler-toned, less glossy. NYX Pink Lyric (P, $4.00) is lighter, more muted. Maybelline Fuchsia Flash (P, $7.49) is brighter, darker. MAC Pink Pigeon (LE, $16.00) is brighter, slightly darker, less glossy. MAC Embrace Me (LE, $16.00) is less glossy. MAC Daddy’s Little Girl (LE, $16.00) is less glossy, darker, more muted, more fuchsia. See comparison swatches of all shades or view them side-by-side on The Dupe List.

Rose Neillia (33) Rouge Volupte Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a brightened, medium pink-coral with warm undertones and a glossy shine. It had full color coverage, and the consistency was slightly thick with a high degree of slip. It applied evenly for the most part, but sometimes, if I pressed my lips together, I could tell where they were–just slightly. This shade lasted for four and a half hours on me and was moderately moisturizing. Tom Ford Beauty Paradiso (07) (LE, $49.00) is lighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty Shout (138) (LE, $30.00) is warmer, less glossy. Guerlain Attrape-Coeur (171) (LE, $35.00) is lighter. Chanel Melodieuse (136) (P, $34.00) is darker. Too Faced Bon Bon (P, $21.00) is glossier, warmer. Givenchy Magnolia Organza (301) (P, $36.00) is darker. Givenchy Rose Dressing (202) (P, $36.00) is slightly warmer. MAC Elegant Accent (P, $22.00) is lighter, less glossy. MAC Watch Me Simmer (LE, $16.00) is brighter, more matte. MAC Heart to Heart (LE, $16.00) is more matte. See comparison swatches of all shades or view them side-by-side on The Dupe List.

Hi Deborah! 🙂

Thanks so much for checking out the blog every day! Have you looked at some of the dupes for these? Maybe one of those is more in your budget! To mimic the glossiness, you could always add a little balm or gloss to the center of the lip.

truuuue. so far I haven’t been WOW’d by any Tom Ford swatches. I like them just fine but most of his lipstick shades and finishes are pretty easily duped. I’ve never seen anything quite like the Rouge Voluptes!

That no 31 is such an amazing tone of pink! I was checking it the past friday and hesitated too much if I will get it, even if I had to push my budget limit. I couldn’t then but it definitely is gonna be my next lipstick! It is, on my list!

Corail Jalouse – which I love. It might be my favorite spring lip color I’e gotten so far (and I got too many..living in So CA and shying from how bright summer collections can get, these are often my most used products). It’s a softer coral, more peach. Right now I’m deciding between keeping the Guerlain Attrape Ceur 171 and the RV Rose Asarine (the latter I haven’t seen you review) or returning them both (unopened with receipt). Thoughts are welcome but not expected. I’m leaning toward returning them both. Too much shopping lately (why your blog helps so much!!!).

I don’t like Rose Neillia too much on me so I didn’t really play with it much but Rose Asarine is a dream to apply. I really love these RVs and RVSs but the shade range is not too impressive for me. They are so lovely to apply though!

It was creamy but not patchy, slick but not sticky and wore evenly even after lunch! I don’t regret it at all. I’ll be looking for more shades in these formulas. Rose Neillia looks great on you!

definitely going to check out 33 (31 is really pretty but i have enough dupes of that one). thanks for posting the link to the dupe list for this! i really liked tom ford’s paradiso, but this is way cheaper and the color is close enough, plus i can check it out in person.

Dangflabbit but I’m loving that Rose Neillia on you Christine! If this is a new shade then I’ll probably have to wait another 3 or 4 months (or more) before we get it in NZ. This might not be a bad thing as it’ll give my wallet a breather from all the holiday purchases its been doing lately!
Quick question: Are there any hard and fast rules as to what one should wear in Autumn/Winter versus what you wear in Spring/Summer? e.g. could you wear the Rose Neillia in Winter or does it all boil down to personal taste, wearing what you want, when you want?

Christine Avatar

Yup, new for spring!

The “rule” is probably warmer, brighter shades in summer, lighter, sheerer, more pastel-y shades in the spring, more earth tones in the fall, and then more metallics in the winter/holiday. But my rule is wear whatever you feel like wearing, whenever you want 😉
