YSL Fetiche Couture Eye Palette ($60.00 for 0.18 oz.) is a new, limited edition eyeshadow palette with five shades for fall. The palette has a leather panel on the front. I bought mine from Nordstrom, but it’s also available on YSL. I can appreciate the interesting combination of colors, and the finishes are more complex in person than they appear in photos. YSL claims 12-hour crease-resistant wear, but there’s usually noticeable fading after eight to nine hours and creasing by ten hours. I wish the wear-time claim wasn’t quite so extreme, because it does wear well relative to the average powder eyeshadow. I would also have liked to have seen the teal shade with a lot more pigment behind it.

Fetiche #1 is described as a “bright copper.” It’s a copper-shimmered, medium-dark brown with warm, reddish-orange undertones and a soft, frosted finish. The texture was soft and silky, but it had a drier consistency that made it a bit powdery to work with. On me, the color wore well for nine hours before fading. MAC Sable Riche (LE, $15.00) is warmer. Too Faced Tiger’s Eye (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery. Dior Atlantique #5 (LE) is more matte. theBalm #6 (P, $6.50) is similar. Chanel Charming #3 (LE) is similar. MAC Her Cocoa #3 (LE, $15.00) is more shimmery. Disney by Sephora Bazaar (LE) is warmer, less shimmery. Giorgio Armani #10 #4 (P) is browner. MAC Romantico (LE, $15.00) is similar. Urban Decay Baked (P, $18.00) is more shimmery. NARS Isolde #2 (P, $24.00) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Fetiche #2 is described as a “warm gold.” It’s a sparkly, medium gold with warm, orange-yellow undertones. This shade was only semi-opaque, and it has a fair amount of sparkle, so there is some fall out during application. Surprisingly, when worn, I didn’t notice much fall out during wear. LORAC Undiscovered (P) is more metallic. Dior Sundeck #2 (LE) is lighter. MAC A Glimmer of Gold #1 (P, $21.00) is lighter. MAC Her Cocoa #1 (LE, $15.00) is darker. Urban Decay Blunt (P, $18.00) is lighter, less sparkly. Giorgio Armani #1 Spring 2012 #3 (LE) is similar. Dior Night Golds #4 (LE) is lighter. Chanel Intuition #2 (P) is yellower. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Fetiche #3 is described as an “opulent brown.” It’s a deep, dark, rich brown with subtle warm undertones and a soft, frosted finish. It had excellent color payoff, and the texture was incredibly smooth and finely-milled–this was the best shade in the palette. It wore well for ten hours on me before slightly creasing. MAC Collective Chic #3 (LE) is less shimmery. MAC Phresh Out #5 (LE) is lighter. LORAC Espresso (P) is more matte. Urban Decay Muse (LE, $18.00) is warmer. MAC Gold Carbon (LE) is a cream product. Dior Night Golds #3 (LE) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Fetiche #4 is described as a “deep black.” It’s a medium-dark black with subtle, warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had good pigmentation, and the texture was soft without being powdery. The color didn’t show signs of fading until after nine and a half hours of wear. Chanel Tisse Riviera #4 (P) is similar. NARS Sycorax (P, $29.00) is similar. NARS Night Clubbing (LE, $24.00) is more matte. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Fetiche #5 is described as a “rich green.” It’s a blue-leaning, murky teal with a matte finish. It had semi-sheer color payoff, and the texture was on the drier side, though it wasn’t stiff or stubborn to work with on the lid. I was able to build up the color by patting it on to mostly opaque color, but it was quicker to fade than the other shades, as it only lasted eight hours on me. Too Faced Blue Satin Sashes (LE, $16.00) is darker. Chanel Fascination #4 (P) is darker. theBalm Matt Schilling (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Make Up For Ever #60 (P, $20.00) is darker. I thought you weren’t going to review it. I got it and am madly in love with it. The base tone has a bit of fall out, but nothing terrible. I really love it, is sooooo me… I find the shades eadily blendable and you can create so many looks with it! Day or night. Fool’s proof. Also has that rockstar gibe yo it. Like listening BRMC wearing Opium, you know? Love it.

I just got this palette. It’s so much prettier in person than in photos. I think your pics captured it well though. I didn’t have any problem with the color pay off on the blue shade. I’ve only used it on my lash lines and outer corner though so I’ll have to play around some more. But so far I love this palette. I consider it one of my top 3 best buys this summer.

These colours really appeal to me and the look you did with them is stunning but at this price, I’d want more than a B- rating before spending. I’m going to try to find similar shades in my stash. Odd that they describe #5 as “rich green” because it does look so predominantly blue (when I saw the swatch, I thought of MAC’s Drive all Night, or whatever it was called, in the first Pro Longwear group).

It’s decent, and if YSL didn’t make that 12-hour tall order of a wear time claim, it probably would have settled a bit higher (maybe A-) or so. Yeah, I don’t know where they got “rich green” from – it looks blue in the pan and swatched!

It looks super on you – love the look you’ve created! But I think I will be sensible and pass – I reckon there are close enough dupes across all of the UD Nekkie palettes I own to recreate your look.

Are you reviewing the nail polishes?

Those colors are absolutely stunning on you!

I fell in love with this palette when I first saw it online but then I took some time to research the swatches and shop my stash. I’d even put together a Bobbi Brown palette a few years back with 3 colors: coppery-gold; bronzey brown; and a gray-blue.

I must have found at least 3 similar shades in my stash for each YSL one. Could not justify buying the palette and now your review confirms my decision.

These shades seem universally appealing. They work great on blue eyes. I guess if anyone does not have these shades already, then the palette is a wonderful start with claims that meet your dreams! Ah, advertising!

I’ve had this palette for several weeks now and find it to be AMAZING. The color pay-off for me was exceptional and the wear time exceeded 12 hours. The eye look that I constructed was phenomenal and I got numerous compliments on it. The shadows are quite soft and readily blendable. This is one purchase that I’m truly glad that I made. LOVE IT!

Oh no! I loved it when I saw the picture of the palette, but the look you’ve done is stunning! I think I want to see it in person before buying though.

I love the colours in this palette and I think this wearable day and night. It is a pity that blue did not work so well on you Christine, but I can see what you mean by a drier finish by looking at the swatch. It is a shame that this one colour is not of the same standards as the others.

I just got this in the mail! Did you find that the packaging itself was really light? I don’t know.. i like the colors overall, but the packaging just feels really light and inexpensive (it doesn’t have that nice weight to it). I feel like with that price, everything about the palette should be on point.

Helene Avatar

The palette is really a looker. The colours are really appealing for autumn, I think. I’ll not buy it though as i think I can find colours similar enough if i take a look in my stash. The only colour I really like a lot in this is the brown one, and for $60 you are right, it should be love. And it’ll be a lot more expensive here.
I love the strong, dramatic look you created.
