YSL Couture Variation Ten-Color Expert Eye Palette
The palette with the purples and grays is beautiful, but too pricey for me. I probably have a lot of similar shades already, but that doesn’t keep me from drooling over purple palettes. The ubiquitous brown/nude palette looks like it at least has a nice variety of shades and a few mattes to round things out.
Been buying makeup for over 40 years. I have never seen couture brands create palettes like this. Yeh, there is the BH cosmetics with the 88 colors, but really is the Urban Decay that started this multi-color and Naked sets. I may have Estée Lauder’s GWP sets in eight colors. Really, the Tarte, UD, Too Faced started this bigger sets. I don’t even recall the quads even as it is popular today. I don’t even buy singles any more.
Will they be limited edition or permanent?
I was trying to find that out too. Pre-order is making me thinke limited possibly.Although, I hope not.
Hi girls,
I live in Paris a on Monday a seller told me at Sephora Champs Elysées that these palette are “one shot”, but the day after I finally decided to bought these 2 palettes at Sephora (with a 20 dicount!) and the manager said to me she didn’t know yet.
I asked to YSL sales but they did not answer to me already.
I think this i a limited edition but maybe I could be wrong!
xxxo
Ugh..Thanks Alice for the info! That sounds fishy kinda. But makes me feel limited edition. That is weird that the YSL sales associate would not know, but Sephora does know???That would be a complete opposite occurrence here where I am in the states.. Were you able to buy them ? They are still pre-sale here online. i just left a message for my YSL SA “buddy”. But, I know he will try to swindle me into buying one. AS much as I love the looks of them,at $90 each, I just can’t sight unseen and no reviews. These are both very dupable for me in other quality shadows. I will update as to what he says. I would like if you do the same if you can.:) Thanks again!:)
I was told by the YSL SA that they are Limited Edition.
Hello Nicole,
I just received an answer from YSL, theu wrote me these palettes are not lilited so you will find thel at the permanent collection 🙂 !
Kind regards
Thanks for the update Alice! That kind of peeves me because the SA did tell me they were LE and that he received only 2 of each! Nice try buddy! LOL..Thank you. I always prefer permanent products at this price point! I wait until I see some reviews. Thank you again!
At almost $100, I will happily stick with my UD Naked2 palette, which seems to contain colours very much like the ones I like best in that first palette.
These look beautiful. I hope they perform well too! When are they going to be available in Canada and what will the price be?
Nordstrom ships to Canada, I’d also suggest using rebates to get cash back! Our dollar is doing poorly right now though against USD.
Thanks Meghan that’s a good suggestion – but yeah our dollar sucks. Hopefully the palettes are permanent and I can wait til our dollar climbs back up!
Sorry I meant Ebates in that last response! Good luck! 😀
This is available at The Bay online if you’re interested! 😀
and it’s $80 Canadian dollars on The Bay website – not US$95 😛
*cough, gasp, choke* a hundred bucks!! I have been really trying to not post complaints but really – this thing better apply and blend ITSELF.
…and scratch my back in that place I can’t reach AND take out the trash too! I feel the same about the price – prices just keep climbing and climbing, it seems.
LOL!! I was thinking the same thing. That or it come with a hot male makeup artist to give a demo. *a girl can only dream*
Hehe, I was so busy having a heart attack over Tuxedo’s gorgeousness, I didn’t even look at the price! 😀 The shadows had certainly better be extremely good…
That being said, Chanel *quads* are ~$130 each here, so I wasn’t too shocked. It’s like the only benefit of living in Insane Makeup Prices Land – one does become rather unshockable…
lol I know what you mean. MU is very expensive here too, so 100 US$ for 10 YSL eyeshadows sounds very reasonable to me.
I hope we get these palettes here, I’d love to swatch them!
I had one OOOOH moments seeing the Nu palette… Then i read the price and when’t “DNAG IT!”.
That shades in that one do call to me but it better be perfect product wise at that price.
I wonder how this compares to the Urban Decay Naked palettes…
UD is far cheaper.lol
These are so stunning!
For $95, these better get all A ratings. I’ve swatched YSL shadow kits in stores and haven’t been too impressed –dry, stiff, sheer, or very glittery. Hope these perform better. The Nude kit looks like there’s too many light colors. The Tuxedo one looks like you can create a variety of looks in gray, blue, and plum. Hope you will review!
No 1 is like HOLD THE PHONE I NEED TO STARE AT THIS PALETTE FOR 3 WEEKS MMMKAY. Iove light-medium tones and peachy/taupey colours, it’s beautiful! 😀 xx
And it better be awesome for that price *whistles*
I love the darker colors, but not for $95!
I like tuxedo!
Look at another beautiful palette I won’t be able to buy! *cries at her empty wallet*
I love high-end cosmetics, especially have a soft-spot for YSL, but this screams CHEAP to me. The packaging…the layout. Not impressed. Will be passing on this one.
Tuxedo looks pretty, though a little dark. Wonder how the quality will be.
I think I might faint. Can not wait to see these!
I love the idea of the warm and cool toned palettes. These look beautiful and I really hope they swatch and review well.
Everyone and their mama is launching 10, 12 or 15 eyeshadow palettes with plenty of nude shades!
Yeah I will wait for the ratings…I haven’t been too impressed with YSL eyeshadows to spend $100 let alone $200….
Ouch. Well, at least it looks like it has a decent double-ended proper brush, no cheap little sponges.
I really like both of these! As for the price, if I were to buy 10 MAC pans, plus a palette, I’m looking at $100+; even MUG plus an empty Z-palette will put me at $80+, so $95 isn’t looking so bad… Also, considering YSL lipsticks run around $40, the price isn’t surprising, and an eyeshadow palette will last a lot longer, too.
Geez, if they’re $95 in the States, then they’ll be at least $130 here in Australia!
They’re gorgeous but I’m gonna have to pass.
I need to draw the line somewhere. (My Mother would be so proud!)
For Ysl,10 shadows, that is relatively at their price point. Possibly lower depending on size. I’m interested in reviews for sure.I like Ysl. I have never found their shadows to be special. I played with the clutch looking set they had out at this past Holiday. It was gorgorgeous to look at. But the powder products were all too Dusty imo.
These are a little pricey but look so beautiful. I cannot wait until more pics and swatches are available.
these look really nice. when a ysl quint is $60, $95 doesn’t seem bad for a 10-pan! i’ve never liked any ysl shadow though, so i’ll wait for your review and to swatch in store.
Ten shadows equals $10 a piece. Count me in! Might go for the Nu- nudes first as I wasn’t crazy about the last UD Naked so I passed. Hope you review one of them Christine!
Nu is calling my name! I hope they don’t sell out too fast! I’d like to see ratings & have time to mull it over 🙂
The palette looks great especially the second one with blues and greys but at $95.. it is way too expensive.. 😛
The second palette with the purples is so beautiful! but at that price I will not buy it.
Come this palette in nude to Germany? Thanks xxx
Gorgeous, but too pricey!
I found swatches of the nu palette online and ordered it right away. I can’t wait. If it’s fabulous, I will definitely get the tuxedo.
So glad it is not as expensive here in Europe, for just a tenner more than the quints’ retail price, I thought I can give it a try.
I have already ordered the Nu version off Feelunique, hopefully it performs well. Can’t wait for it to arrive.
Did it arrive yet? If so, is it good? I’m really curious. Thanks!
Hi Sarah, sorry it took me so long to reply! I don’t comment often and did not know how to get notified about followup comments.
The YSL Nu palette is superb! I’ve been using it a lot in the past couple months and love every single shade. The formula is buttery soft and color payoff is great! The shadows blend beautiful too. Lasts a normal day (9 to 5ish) for me without a primer.
I really like the look of this nude palette. I hope you will be reviewing this.
