YSL Corail Aquatique (7) & Pink Taboo (103) Glossy Stains Reviews, Photos, Swatches
YSL Corail Aquatique (7) Glossy Stain
YSL Corail Aquatique (7) Glossy Stain ($34.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a light-medium, orange-coral with a glossy shine. It had mostly opaque color coverage, applied evenly overall, and wore for six and a half hours when I tested it. While worn, it was lightly hydrating. YSL Corail Fauve (12) (P, $34.00) is darker, redder. YSL Corail Hold Up (105) (P, $34.00) is shimmery.Marc Jacobs Beauty Paint It (202) (P, $28.00) is pinker. Revlon Kiss Me Coral (P, $7.99) is slightly pinker. MAC Whoops (P, $19.50) is more muted. MAC Geo Pink (LE, $20.00) is shimmery. Guerlain Candy Stripe (P, $30.00) is pinker. Burberry Brick Red (P, $27.00) is similar. See comparison swatches.
YSL Pink Taboo (103) Rebel Nudes Glossy Stain ($34.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a medium, reddish coral with fuchsia and copper shimmer. It had semi-opaque color coverage, and it wore well for six and a half hours, but it was a little drying towards the last few hours of wear. YSL Fuchsia Fugitive (109) (P, $34.00) is more fuchsia-hued. Guerlain Candy Stripe (P, $30.00) is lighter, less shimmery, less red. See comparison swatches.
YSL’s Glossy Stains have a watery consistency initially, which develops into a slightly thicker, more gel-like texture that hugs onto lips–and they tend to darken as they “set” (usually within five minutes, but I wait about twenty to thirty minutes before photographing). Their biggest advantage is that they tend to have a lot of color coverage and wear for hours and hours, as they are a stain. These absolutely stain; if you swatch them on your arm or hand, you’ll instantly have a stain that doesn’t go away for hours (for me, it takes a day or longer to get rid of them!). On lips, that stain doesn’t last a day, but it does last for quite a long time, even after the glossiness and majority of the color has worn away, my lips remain somewhat tinted for a few more hours. They’re lightly tacky once they turn into a gel consistency, and they do have a grape-like scent that may be off-putting for some. They scent fades as it dries down, but from the tube initially, the scent is fairly strong.

I LOVE Coral Aquatique! When I asked for a color that I’d be able to wear everyday, it was one of the two that my favorite YSL make up artist in here adviced me to check out and it’s my first and only glossy stain from the brand. I also love the smell which I can not describe clearly. And you know it’s like a really cool product that cools your lips. It’s a weird but nice feeling I must say!
Even though I don’t blog in English, I have a post on it on my blog too. It’s great that you are reviewing this line, thank you!
Yay – another YSL Glossy Stain fan! It’s awesome that you found a shade to go to everyday!
Corail Aquatique is my go-to Glossy Stain for the summer! (My fall/winter favorite is Brun Cachemire 🙂 )
Pink Taboo looks absolutely lovely!
I want both!
I think the very fine sparkle in some of the Glossy Stains is just so beautiful!
Both colors are gorgeous but I LOVE Pink Taboo on you!
YSL Corail Aquatique (7) Glossy Stain is the MOST POPULAR item in ASIA that when it came out I didn’t find it any were in Most of Asia (mainly Sold out in Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore). Because it’s The most natural yet unique color for asian skin tone! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!
Happy to hear you’re loving it, Angela!
I’m honestly tempted to get each and every one of the Glossy Stains. They’re SO gorgeous!
Me too!
They both look really pretty on you! Really pretty colors!
Thanks, Kiara!
The Coral is beautiful but there is something in me that just can’t fathom spending $34 dollars on a lip gloss.
Well, if it’s any consolation, the glossiness + length of wear is amazing!
You could try L’Oreal’s Caresse Lip Stains for a more affordable alternative.
Both the color are gorgeous on u dear

I love the glossy stains – Corail Aquatique looks like it belongs on my wishlist 🙂
I love Coral Aquatique but i absolutely hate the smell. I think it smells a little bit like beer and it makes me dizzy cause its too strong.
God, the color is such a perfect peachy color with a hint of shimmer! Love the way it looks.
I have #7, Corail Aquatique and #12 Corail Fauve. #7 looks more peachy on me but thats perhaps because I have pigmented lips. And it also looks fab when paired with smokey eyes. #12 is almost red on me. Love the glossyness and staying power of these.
I think the scent is actually violets…?
Doesn’t smell like violets to me at all – smells more like grape/wine!
I just bought two of these for the first time and I don’t think I’ve ever loved a lip product this much. I purchased Rouge Laque #9 and Fuchsia Tomboy #104. I think #9 is honestly the most beautiful red lipstick I’ve ever seen. I checked your reviews of them to see what you thought and saw you said they wore for a long time and rated them highly, so thank you. I always look at your site before getting products I’m not familiar with. Both of these colors look amazing also. I want to get more colors eventually!
So happy to be able to help, Sam! I really love YSL’s formula, and the shade range is so wide!
