White Eyeliners: Swatches, Dupes, and Comparisons
White Eyeliners
White Eyeliners: Your Guide
In my stash, I had four matte white eyeliners and three shimmery/metallic white eyeliners, and I’ve compared them in this post. Â The finding? The matte white eyeliners are completely dupes of each other across all four shades, while the metallic white eyeliners are nearly dupes of each other, with one being minutely less bright. Â I like using white eyeliner to lighten other colors or to act as a base color when using eyeshadow on the lower lash line.
- DOLCE & GABBANA WHITE is a bright, creamy white. It is similar to the three other matte white pencils I have: MAC Pure White, MAC Fascinating, and NARS Santa Monica Blvd.
- MAC PURE WHITE is a crystal clear creamy white. It is similar to the three other matte white pencils I have: Dolce & Gabbana White, MAC Fascinating, and NARS Santa Monica Blvd.
- MAC FASCINATING is a bright white with a matte finish. It is similar to the three other matte white pencils I have: Dolce & Gabbana White, MAC Pure White, and NARS Santa Monica Blvd.
- NARS SANTA MONICA BLVD. is a pure white a matte finish. It is similar to the three other matte white pencils I have: Dolce & Gabbana White, MAC Pure White, and MAC Fascinating.
- URBAN DECAY YEYO is a silvery-white — it’s not 100% white on me, there is a little bit of silver sheen to it, but it’s close. It is very similar to Tarina Tarantino Crystal Gun; a touch starker compared to MUFE #14L.
- MAKE UP FOR EVER #14L is a brightened, metallic white. It is not quite as stark/bright compared to both UD Yeyo and Tarina Tarantino Crystal Gun–but realistically, the difference is nearly imperceptible when applied.
- TARINA TARANTINO CRYSTAL GUN is a bright, metallic-finished white.  It is exactly like UD Yeyo and a touch brighter compared to MUFE #14L.
TEMPTALIA PICKS:Â #2 (wears the best), #5 (most pigmented, balanced between creamy/soft)
Behind-the-Series: Â It was my intention to provide heavy, opaque swatches to provide an accurate color comparison. Â Some eyeliners required one pass, some required five, and a few even more. Â When possible, the shade name (above) is linked to the original review so you can read more about the quality, wear, etc. of a particular eyeliner. Â If we’ve never done a review, there will be no link. Â Shades that were limited edition will be marked with “(LE)” and shades that were discontinued will be marked with “(DC)” after the color description. Â You can also find all comparisons on The Dupe List.

So funny I looked at the pics first and was able to correctly guess which was Yeyo! Haha I spend way too much time with my makeup haha
well I’d like to know which one last the longest on the waterline…
the most important thing to me, when it comes to white eyeliners 😉
any suggestions?
🙂
MAC’s Pure White for me.
will you be doing this series for other eyeliner shades as well? (i’d love to see something for purple eyeliners!)
Yes, this is a series for all the eyeliners I own!
I use MAC fascinating on my waterline (I am very pale so the contrast isn’t too harsh) and the inner corners of my eyes to brighten.
I like the look of the MAC one best. I’ve been wanting a brightening liner to use in the waterline. I tried a champagne color but decided it wasn’t for me. I was going to try a nude next but I wonder if white wouldn’t be better? I’m just scared it will look too obvious
Personally, I find white to be too obvious, so I prefer a nude shade. White can be a cool mod sort of look, if that’s your cuppa tea 🙂
I personally prefer a pale nude pencil for te waterline, as I think a stark white can look too harsh. MUFE has a double-ended one that works well as an eyeliner, lipliner, & spot-concealer; I can’t think of the name off-hand, but as of only a few months ago it was still available at Sephora. I have it in the lightest shade, and the lighter end is a very cool-/pink-toned nude that’s great for the water line (I use the darker end as a lip pencil).
Is it M·A·C Pure White Chromagraphic Pencil or is it M·A·C Pure White Chromaline?
I have the Chromaline, which one do you think that wears better?
Thanks! 🙂
Pencil – all of these are pencil eyeliners.
I know shade/product names don’t normally “mean” anything, but NARS Santa Monica Blvd., for a white liner, kind of raised an eyebrow… Well, UD Yeyo did, too, but that was kind of to be expected, and it’s a bit more blatant.
I am apparently way behind in pop culture slang because I had to google that to get the meaning. Now I’m just like – eek!
My revlon matte kohl eyeliner in 04 pure white is creamier and more pigmented than any high-end white liner.
Christine, have you ever came across a matte white that was waterproof and had the wear of UD/MUFE? I have UD Yeyo already… but I haven’t came across a matte white that sets the same way yet.
MAC Pure White Chromagraphic Pencil!
I love the white gel liner I bought from Inglot; it wears well and opaque. I also just prefer using a brush with eyeliner.
How did I never consider using my white pencil as a base for other liners? Thanks for the idea, Christine! I’ll be trying that one out today.
I dont know if you have done this already but could you suggest nude eye liners for WOC?
MAC has a NW43/NC45 (I think those are the numbers), I would go with that.
In middle school and high school I used to be a huge fan of white eyeliner. I have a couple pencils of Urban Decay in Yeyo and MAC in Pure White. I don’t wear eyeliner much (oily lids and hooded eyes) so I use them for eyeshadow base.
I’ve been using MAC Fascinating for years. I didn’t even know about Pure White. I put it at the outer corner of eyes.
I’ve been very hesitant to purchase a white liner, but every once in a while for the heck of it, I like to experiment with the Mod era makeup. I will purchase MAC Pure White. Thank you Christine!
I really love using Nyx Jumbo pencil in white, its cheap, works great as a highlight and wears pretty well on the waterline as well. Its so pigmented and creamy as well.
Great website that saved me tons of time and money-thank you so much for your awesome information!
Thanks, Renee!
