What's your signature scent?
What’s your signature scent? (Of all-time or of the moment…)
All-time, Tom Ford Oud Wood. Of the moment, Arabian Oud Kalemat or Tom Ford Amber Absolute.
Thanks to Kim for today’s question! Do you have a question idea? Submit yours here.
Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf. Nothing else compares. 😀
This recently became my signature scent i dont know what took me so long love it.
Used to be CK One but now I rarely wear perfumes.
I rather wish I had a signature scent, but I have never found one that I like. I actually enjoy the scent of the John Frieda Full Repair shampoo, and if that were a perfume, I’d buy it immediately.
Of all time: Chanel Chance
Of the moment: Illamasqua Freak and Chanel Coco Noir
For my husband (because he doesn’t like any of the above): Burberry Brit
Lancôme La Vie est Belle!
Givenchy – Hot couture 🙂
I probably haven’t owned anything long enough to call it my signature, the three perfumes I’ve worn the most are LUSH The Bug, Ajmal Shadow and Britney Spears Circus Fantasy.
Someday Kalemat you will be mine!
Jennifer Lopez’s Still eau de parfum. I bought it online, unsniffed on a whim for a cheap price about 4 or 5 years ago and I love it.
Apples, tea, freesia, pepper, jasmine, sandalwood and a hint of rose and citrus. It smells fresh, clean, feminine and it really works well with my skin.
I may or may not have 3 backup bottles stashed away in my closet…;-)
This is a favorite of mine as well.
I really love Pink Sugar. It’s a totally sweet smelling perfume.
Me too! It’s super yummy. (:
i love pink sugar and sensual sugar. i want the newest one its goldish bottle by aqualina. forgot the name but it smells amazing too!!
100% Narciso Rodriguez ‘For Her’ Eau de Toilette. I just knew it would be mine forever after the first spray.
I go through phases, meaning I latch to one scent and wear it a lot until I find one I like even better. From oldest to newest, off the top of my head: Escada Island Kiss, Woods of Windsor True Rose, Aquolina Pink Sugar, Urban Rituelle Cotton Candy, Lancôme La Vie est Belle, Lush Rose Jam, Epically Epic Blue Girl. See a pattern here? 😉
Burberry Body. It’s the only fragrance I wear.
I’m not a super big perfume person, but I really like the dirty from lush in the solid version form. It’s very earthy with a hint of melon. It’s also a unisex fragrance, I like earthy, spicy and slightly masculine scents.
All time: Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue
Currently: Honey by Marc Jacobs
Coach Origional
Marc Jacobs Daisy Sunshine. I love the fruity-ness of it!
I have had an issue with fragrance over the years due to sensitivity of skin and smell, but I have just got turned on to Tom Ford and OMG I’m in love! I want to try them all, shame price tag is soo high. I’m loving Neroli Portofino so I would say that would be my signature, and Noir (even though it is more for men I still love it.) I want to try Tobacco Vanille and others too. Wish the Private Blend miniature set was more affordable!
You could try samples from sites like Surrender to Chance or the Perfume Court – smaller, more affordable samples, and with perfume, a little can go a long way 🙂 Also great to try something!
You can even ask the SA at Sephora to give you samples for free =)
Used to be Miss Dior, but now I rotate my scents so much that I don’t think I have a signature anymore. My recent go-to (same with last autumn) is Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire EDP.
Right now, it’s Chanel Eau de Parfum in Allure Sensuelle and Versace Eau de Toilette in Versus. 🙂
Anything that has strong violet notes to it. If I had to narrow it down I’d say Marc Jacob’s Daisy Eau so Fresh
I would love to find a modern, strong violet note perfume, but it’s hard! Something that smells like Guerlain’s Meteorites! I researched long and hard. Apparently at some point Guerlain did indeed have a Meteorites perfume that was supposed to smell just like them, but has been discontinued for some time now. Just my luck! Anyone with suggestions please help!
You can still find Meteorites occasionally online but it has gone up a bit in price the last few years.
It is one of my all-time favourites and is every bit as lovely as you might imagine. It is GORGEOUS.
I’VE HEARD! *_*
Borsara’s Violetta de parma-straight up violet, YSL Paris(violets and roses) and surprisingly Grey Flannel a mens cologne that could be unisex has strong violet notes, very nice. A unique woody violet scent is Serge Lutens Bois de Violette. I own all of the above, like a little violet myself sometimes.
The Borsara and YSL sound like me!!! I’m on it NOW! Thanks 😀
Maddie, try Balenciaga paris, violet heaven! you can buy at Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus and now at Sephora too!!!
Benefit Cosmetics Crescent Row Fragrance So Hooked on Carmella, love it. It smells fruity, floral and a bit like caramel. People always complement me on it and it’s kind of hard to get so not many people wear it. I have to get it on EBay now though because Sephora and Ulta don’t carry it ant more.
Far too many options out there for a signature scent, but among my current favs:
Oriental Lounge – The Different Company
Jasmin Imperatrice Eugenie – Creed
Comme des Garcons Series Luxe: Champaca – Comme des Garcons
Noir de Noir – Tom Ford
Chanel 5
I just simply love Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door. I have never been without a bottle of this classic fragrance since 1988. I just have to have it.
Island by Michael Kors (the original scent). It’s unfortunate they don’t make it anymore – I loved that smell so much. But all of my bottles have gone off (yellow and just don’t smell the same anymore). If anyone knows of any close scents, let me know!
In cooler weather, Flowerbombe by Viktor & Rolf.
For autumn, Cartier Delicies; I love the cherry and almond notes.
In warm weather, Bobbi Brown Beach (sometimes layered with a bit of Laura Mercier Vanilla) or VS Midnight Dare.
I also loved Sud Comptoir Pacifique’s Vannile Peche, but they don’t make that anymore. ;(
Clean White Woods is my new one, previously it was some blackberry amber perfume oil that i don’t remember where I got it from.
Philosophy Amazing Grace. I’ve been wearing it for 7 years now.
Chanel Chance Eau Tendre
britney spears fantasy (don’t judge :P)
I like Britney Spears Fantasy too.
Marc Jacobs Daisy 🙂
How I wish I could find my signature scent! No matter how much I like a fragrance, I can’t keep on wearing just the one. There are too many nice ones to choose from and I usually alternate them depending on my mood.
I wish I had a signature scent as well! It would definitely be a more simple, less expensive part of my beauty routine if I could just buy one scent.
All time – Chanel Bois des Iles or Chanel 19.
Currently – By Kilian “Sweet Redemption” and Bottega Veneta Eau Legere. I would also add By Kilian “Flower of Immortality”, but it’s so light and so fleeting that I doubt anyone would remember that I was wearing it! Nevertheless, it’s constantly part of my current rotation.
Chanel 19 is wonderful. Definitely my go-to fragrance for work.
Versace Bright Crystals-so beautiful, light, and I can smell it on me ALL DAY!
This one is lovely!
Love, Chloé
Coco from Chanel since approximately 20 years. I do try/wear something else every now and then, last summer Hermes 24 Faubourg, but I always go back to Coco after a while.
Marc Jacob’s Daisy. it’s basically the only perfume I wear, and every time I wear it vs. anything else, I get tons of people telling me I smell great!
Always: Armani Code
The husband loves the cheap Jennifer Aniston perfume though. Not my fave, but I’ce been wearing it a lot for him on our date nights these past few years.
I remember wearing DKNY Delicious for the longest time then it ran out and haven’t repurchased. It’s so crisp and sophisticated. Should buy it again!
Dior J’Adore Eau de Toilette – I like all the J’Adore line, I use Eau de Perfume for going out and I’ve asked for the new one for Christmas.
Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle. A few times I’ve strayed with Chanel Chance, YSL Paris, and Versace Bright Crystal, but I always go back to Coco Mademoiselle.
Chanel’s Coco Madamoiselle is also my all time fave I also love Chance you have great taste in perfume
Chloe eau de parfum and Guerlain La petite robe noire in the evening
Dior forever and ever
Philosophy’s Amazing Grace. Oldie but Goodie, and just sweet and feminine enough but not overpowering.
I love Flowerbomb, Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday and Rihanna’s Reb’l Fleur. These are my main “go to” perfumes.
Love in White by Creed!!!!!
Until I ran out, my all-time favorite fragrance was Tocca Touch (the perfume oil, and I’m so sad it was discontinued!) The one I love most now is Bulgari Jasmin Noir.
Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf. The end.
Oh, Forbidden Flower by Lolita Lempicka too. 😀
Probably Hugo Boss Deep Red, though I may soon be a convert to Tokyo Milk Tainted Love.
Cashmere mist by Donna Karen. I knew it from the moment I smelled it when I was 9. I’m 20 now hehe.
All time: Estee Lauder Pleasures. I haven´t worn it for a long time, but I definitely love it.
Of the moment: Marc Jacobs Daisy – It may be this moment’s fragrance, but I’m really loving it, so who knows…:)
Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb definitely. Sometimes with a little of dyptique philosykos
Summer: Chanel Chance Eau Tendre – this is my absolute favorite, but it’s not the same during winter…
Winter: Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy – I didn’t think I would like this, my husband bought it for me because he loved it. It’s grown on me.
My issue is I only really am drawn toward summery scents (light florals, fruity florals), and I live in Michigan…
Chanel No5 is my all time favourite!!
Mitsouko by Guerlain, and Guerlain Meteorites. I almost always wear Mitsouko more than Meteorites because the latter is so hard to find. I have two bottles of it left and am using it very carefully to make it last!
Jadior!!!
Absolute fave is Marc Jacobs perfume, Chance by Chanel keeps coming back to me and the latest I’m absolutely loving is Jour d’Hermès.
Mine would have to be hypnotic poison by Dior it just has amazing depth to it.
Angel, original. le lily and le rose. Also lolita lempicka, versace crystal noir and bright crystal!! Hypnotique poison dior.
No sigs, just a lot of faves. Three faves by Tom Ford: Tobacco Vanille, Black Orchid, Neroli Portofino.
Knowing by Estee Lauder
(All time)Miss dior le parfum, CD. ( of the moment)Le petit robe noir, guerlain
D&G The One and Burberry Brit Sheer are my favorites. They’re both so perfect and gorgeous.
estee lauder modern muse! fell in love when I smelt it. 🙂 it makes me feel fresh modern and powerful! and a lil sexy.
My all-time fave is Givenchy Ange ou Demon Le Secret….followed closely by Versace Versense.
Well, you asked….vintage Arpege…but I now have so many loves…it is hard to pick just a signature scent. After decades of using Arpege, I have branched out to so many niche scents it would be hard to pick just one as a “signature”. Still, if I had to…it would be Arpege. I was wearing that when I met my husband to be…and he is now my husband of 50 years and he still likes me to smell of “Arpege”. Of course, the current version is so far removed from the original that wearing it is now just a token to the past!!
Estée Lauder Beyond Paradise. Have loved it since it came out and it’s the go-to I’m-in-a-hurry-and-can’t-dawdle choice. I also love Lush’s Tuca Tuca and Lust.
Overall my scent is Lush-Breath of God. I live for woodsy scents with complexity. The more mysterious the scent the happier I am. On very special occasions (lucky if I use this once a year!) Secret of Venus. The original parfume has long been discontinued and some cheap imposter is marketed now. It’s nectar of the gods! During winter for date night I’m all about Armani Code or Prada Candy. Depends on my mood that night; sultry or flirty.
Most days: Womanity by Thierry Mugler
Special Days: Alien by Thierry Mugler
Previously: Angel & Innocent by Thierry Mugler
Can you tell that I’m a fan of Thierry Mugler’s scents? I love them all.
I switch from time to time. Right now I love Body Shop Cranberry and wear it every day. In the past I’ve used Opium (way back when it first came out) and I think it was Coco (Chanel). I am still looking for a perfect, sweet honey that smells like the honey and shea by Couvent de Minimes. I occsionally wear straight labdanum, which I totally love. I think I change with the seasons, too. Last summer I was wearing Aveda – the one that smells like Shampure. I’ve always liked patchouli, too. Last winter it was chocolate. So I guess that’s not really any signature since I switch around so much, but when I have one I like I wear it every day till I change to liking something else.
I collect a lot of perfume. I have many that I love but the best one is Versace Bright Crystal. I also love Dolce and Gabanna Rose the One
Saint from Kat Von D is my HG perfume
Me too!! Although I can’t buy it in Canada anymore…. 🙁
I don’t really have one single perfume but I recall an old boyfriend saying once, when we met a few years later, that my perfume still smelled like me – it was Kenneth Cole for her, in the round puck shaped gold thing (not really a bottle). I still wear it, or Burberry (classic for her) on the days I just want a comforting scent and that’s what people seem to know me as.
Clive Christian No. 1. It is the most elegant, classy fragrance I’ve ever come across. I also love Ivoire by Balmain, Chanel’s 1932 and Cristalle. I love Cristalle in spring and summer but I also love it in fall and winter as it reminds me of cold champagne. I first received Cristalle at Christmastime and still love it all these years later.
OMG!!!!!!!!! where are my MAC Turquatic peeps at?
Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir. Cannot get enough!
Since I’m a fragrance ho I’ll narrow it down to my top 3, lol. Le Labo’s Vanille44, Serge Lutens Tubereuse Criminelle, Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille.
Lush Karma!
Hermes Elixir De Merveilles. Every time I get tons of compliments , great sillage & longevity!
guerlain’s spiriteuse double vanille. you can’t get it in australia any more though and i’m devastated!!! it’s the perfect boozy, heavy, vanilla rum… i’m rationing what’s left now. hard.
I know it’s a good one, I went through two bottles of Spiritueuse double vanille perfume. Try L’Artisan Vanille Absolument it’s a boozy vanilla also. And Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille is another beautiful rich Vanilla perfume.
I own 40+ full bottles, about 30 of which I regularly wear, so I don’t have a signature scent so much as fragrances that I return to, again and again, and always feel myself in. Some are comfort scents that I wear mostly in the house or to bed, while others are going-out scents, that project a certain personality. The former are more gourmand, spicy orientals; the latter are likely to be chypres, green and woody scents.
Home
Jo Malone Black Amber & Ginger Lily
Serge Lutens Filles en Aiguilles, Ambre Sultan, Musc Kublai Khan
Guerlain L’Heure Bleue
Going Out
Chanel No. 19
Estee Lauder Azuree
Serge Lutens Vetiver Oriental
Robert Piguet Bandit
Caron Le Troisieme Homme
J’Adore by Dior and Guilty by Gucci
Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay Cologne. It’s so fresh, I love it!
All time: Chanel number 5
Winter: Lancome Tresor, Bond Number 9 SFA
Summer: VS Bombshell
I have too many perfumes and I keep buying more! All time, Prada Candy I would imagine. Of the moment, Long Winter Farm’s Dark Witch. It’s the incense fragrance I’ve always wanted. This is the third perfume shop that I found through Etsy that pleased me so immensely.
Chanel Chance. It’s perfect. I used to have a nice collection of perfumes, but since buying that, it’s all I want to wear. I still appreciate different fragrances and love to smell new releases or ones I’ve never tried, but I’ve decided it’s pointless to own anything aside from Chance.
All time: Marc Jacobs Lola
Currently: Donna Karan Cashmere
UNF especially in the winter, Cashmere makes me just wanna curl up and sleep!
VS Amber romance or Viva La Juicy with a light must of body shop vanilla overtop.
I haven’t found my all time yet but I have been loving See by Chloe, and CLEAN’s Skin, Shower, Rain, and Laundry.
Chanel Chance // Guerlain Instant Magic (with the darker sides) // Gucci Flora (the original)
Philosophy Unconditional Love – it’s so comforting and I always get compliments!
Giorgio Armani’s Acqua di Gioia! It is such a fresh and clean scent.
I’m loving Arabian Oud Kalemat since receiving it this week, but I’d have to say my signature fragrance is “Fracas” by Robert Piguet. I’m a perfume junkie though, so I could never wear just a few!
YAYYY!
When you say signature I think of the last one for me as Chloe which I made signature by adding a patchouli, a clove and I think a rose petal. Other than that I switch up all the time Illamasqua Freak, Chanel No 5, Coco Mademoiselle, Tom Ford Violet Blonde, Black Orchid, Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb, VS Love Rocks, Bombshell. Lately Honey by Marc Jacobs and BCBGMAXAZRIA Bon Genre none of which have been customized – yet.
Gucci Flora – the original. I had gotten a sample from sephora.com once, just because I like to try fragrance samples, and fell in utter love with it.
So hard to choose only one: Ambre Passion by Laura Mercier, Ambre by Prada, Shizandra (?) by Chantecaille, Love in Black by Creed, Midnight Fleurs by Nest.
Prada Candy. I have a ton of other perfumes now but it’s the only one I reach for usually lol
Currently, Kenzo’s Amour. My all-time would be the OLD, original version of Must de Cartier, before they changed the formula back in the 90s. The first time I ever applied it, I walked around all day smelling my wrist. I couldn’t stop. It’s all I wore. I’ve never loved a scent as much as I loved that one, hands down. I wasn’t aware there had been a change to the scent’s formula until I ordered another bottle in the late 90s, sprayed a liberal amount on my neck and wrists, and almost gagged. I wish they’d just left it as it was. 🙁
Aire by Loewe. In summer I change to a lighter scent like Essay Miyake summer eau de toillette.
