Sally Hansen Triple Strong (I needed to give my nails a break from color), but I’m thinking of going with Sinful Colors Genteel tonight.

On my toes: Essie Mint Candy Apple
On my hands: Urban Decay Toasted (from their naked set)
I never wear nail polish on my hands, but since I was procrastinating on a paper I decided to try it out. 😉

Fingers – Nothing! I had been changing my polish weekly, and my nails were not happy. I’m taking a break, and then I’ll switch to polishless manis for awhile.

Toes – Orly in Green With Envy. Great color, but I don’t care for the formula.

I can’t keep mine on for a DAY, let alone a week! have to ask, what’s your nail-painting process? What kind of base and top coats do you use?

Precious Avatar

I use Anchor (base) and Armor (top), I normally do two coats of each. 🙂

I don’t do much with my hands, I guess that can be a factor as well.

It’s important to start with a clean nail bed. Swipe your nails with your nail polish remover first. I love Zoya’s “Remove +” because it’s gentle on the nail, and the smell doesn’t knock you out.

I mostly only use a base coat (usually Zoya Anchor) if the polish is one that stains. Then I paint the first coat and let it dry. After I paint the 2nd coat I immediately apply Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. It’s incredible stuff. Best I’ve ever used. Until I tried Seche, I’ve been using Zoya Armour, and then their “Fast Drops Polish Dryer”.

You need to reapply a top coat every few days, or a glitter coat to extend the wear. I can get up to about 10 days, and I’m not too careful about using my hands.

Hope this helps, and you get as good results as I do!

OPI “Honeymoon Sweet”, picky white with gold-y sheen and a couple of nails with a top coat of Zoya PixieDust formula “Godiva”.

Nekona Avatar

I don’t usually wear nail polish because I can’t paint my nails for the life of me and I become frustrated when I can’t use my nails as tools. XD

I wish I was better at nail painting, but having a hand tremor kind of impedes that.

Two coats of Revlon Colorstay Pale Cashmere. Nice and soft and clean with a touch of transparency. I needed a break from bold colours, although I currently have three Rimmel Metal Rush polishes and Sally Hansen Midnight in NY on my desk tempting me!

A lot. There’s a striped mani with RBL 360 and LMdB Dream Maker on my left hand, and Jinsoon Charade and Poppy Blue on my right hand, alone with Nars Zulu, Deborah Lippmann’s Dream a Little Dream of Me, and one finger with Cirque XX.
On toes: Flower Beauty’s Thistle or That.

Illamasqua Raindrops – I ordered it 2 weeks ago after reading your review and finally caved! I love it and it’s lasted a full week on my nails with minor chipping. Nail polishes (OPI, Butter London, etc.) usually only last 3-4 days before chipping really badly.

Essie Tomboy No More. Fitting name for me 🙂 It’s a beautiful deep jelly creme red. Perfect application and I am day 8 with minor tip wear!!

It was a LE shade from a few years ago but I have seen it on various online polish dealers. I need a backup, I am almost done, it’s THAT good!

These are always my favorite types of questions. (“What X are you wearing right now?”)

Revlon Powder Puff with two layers of Sinful Colors Nail Junkie on top on fingernails. Maybelline Shocking Seas on my toes.

Chanel Paparazzi. this is my first Chanel nail varnish and it’s so gorgeous. I can never have enough rosy mauve-y nail varnishes.

Lauren Avatar

Fingers – Zoya Areej. I love this color for spring/summer
Toes – Zoya Kylie2. I had this on my nails last week, but since I bought some polishes from their Earth Day sale I wanted to try something new 🙂

Ella Avatar

On my toes is a dark red colour from Dior – one of their old shades I think.

My fingers are currently bare as I took off Apple by Zoya yesterday, and I like a day’s break to let my nails breathe. After I wash my hair tonight though I’m putting on Nothing Else Metals by Essie.

Nina Avatar

On my hands: OPI an affair in red square
On my feet: OPI Russian navy

Love both colors, OPI nail polishes are my favorites, sadly they are pricey (16€ which is about 20$) here in Germany 🙁

Rescue Beauty Lounge Halcyon. It’s an unusual sage green with cooler (greyish blue) undertone and tiny pink shimmers. It works like a neutral on my olive skin.

I have Illamasqua Harem on my nails…but they are extremely badly chipped right now *is sheepish*! I’ve ben doing spring cleaning and even with gloves, I’ve been very harsh on my nails this week. Re-doing them today 🙂 Thinking about China Glaze Periwinkle 🙂

Nadia Avatar

fingers: OPI Guy Meets Gal-veston, probably will add accents (french tips? polka dots?) in one of the Essie chromes today.

toes: Essie Turquoise and Caicos. It’s not really sandal season yet, but I am prepared!

Amanda Avatar

Essie Absolutely Shore on my fingers and Essie Mint Candy Apple on my toes… I don’t like matching my toes and fingers but I LOVE using a similar color on both with a darker/brighter version on toes and a lighter/more muted version on fingers!

Nath Attack Avatar

A rainbow of different colors on every finger! Hot pink on my left pinkie, then true red, red-orange, orange, and yellow on my left thumb. Mint green on my right thumb, then true green, teal, royal blue, and purple on my right pinkie.

So fun! Maybe my favorite nail art to date.

Pami Avatar

I love doing things like that, though not necessarily an ombre/rainbow effect like yours (which is really pretty!), but sometimes colors that I like and go well together.

t_zwiggy Avatar

For the first time in more than a year my finger nails are completely bare! I decided to give them a two week break to get rid of the yellow stain. I plan on painting them again tonight, I haven’t decided on the polish yet, but I’m pretty sure it will be a blue or purple pastel with a cream finish.

In honor of the last Queen’s day here in the Netherlands (at least for a while)…OPI’s “A Roll in the Hague”, which is incredibly orange — and the title is very fitting, since the palace is there 🙂

Nikita Avatar

Essie Mint Candy Apple, though I’m taking it off tonight (I’ve had it on for over a week). I’m thinking I’ll do Maybelline Color Show in Sapphire Siren.

Color Club Kismet! I’m loving how it looks in the bright sunlight. I bought it and Beyond on the advice of your review, and would never have heard of this polish without your blog. Thank you so much, Christine!

Zoya Rory on fingers, and Zoya Anaka on toes. I was in a girly pink mood inspired by spring’s newly flowering trees.

BTW, I usually use Zoya’s topcoat and base coat too, but due to hearing about how great Seche Vite Dry Fast topcoat for so long, I finally caved, and decided to try it. OMG – it is truly is amazing! I put it on right after the 2nd coat of polish, and it dries almost instantly to a shiny and very hard/protective finish. It’s made my manicures last longer than ever, so if you don’t like to change your polish often (I can’t because it’s just too hard on my genetically weak-ish fingernails – even using Zoya’s fabulous polish remover), you have to try this. I reapply the topcoat if I start to show a hint of tip wear.

I’ve already worn this manicure over a week with one re-application of Seche, and I can easily go 10 days. By then I just have to do new colors anyway 😉

Pami Avatar

Another thing I do sometimes to extend my manicure without getting bored, is to add a glitter, or color-changing topcoat, or add dots or stripes or something to change it up and be creative.

Jaye Brown Avatar

Chanel Peridot. I’m about to change it this evening to Butter Kerfluffle for the base and OPI Gargantuan Green Grape for the tips. Or vice versa, or a combo 🙂

Moonchime Avatar

I have Rimmell’s new “Pink A BOO” 60 seconds nail color on my fingernails right now. It’s a gorgeous bright pink! At $1.50 a bottle it is more than beautiful–the price is also just right. I love it!

K Avatar

CND Shellac in an empty moon mani – I don’t know the colour names, but it’s 2 coats of a bright orange creme topped with a sparkly orange.

Dinitchka Avatar

On all fingers: Nicole By OPI in Totally In The Dark (2 coats)
Cling film mani on all nails but left hand ring finger and right hand index finger: Nicole By OPI in Back To Reality …TV

I am wearing China Glaze Japanese Koi with Lynnderella Change as a ring finger accent. Japanese Koi is sooo BRIGHT! Like traffic cones on my fingers, except not really because my nails broke and are nubs, but you know what I mean, right?! LOL Loving the neons for spring/summer.

I absolutely enjoy your site. I’m a long time lurker, but just wanted to say thanks for creating such a super engaging and informative make-up forum/community on this site. It’s truly appreciated by all of us! *hugs*
