What's in your makeup bag (or in a bag or on a desk)?

I don’t keep a makeup bag since I work from home, so I don’t need much when I’m out of the house! I keep a Jack Black Lip Balm, Urban Decay Rebel Vice Lipstick, and Giorgio Armani Luce Lacquer in my purse, just in case. On my desk, I have a Jack Black Lip Balm and an Hourglass Lip Oil.

I always keep 867 nude or pinky lip balms or glosses with me. You know, just in case. lol

But seriously, I always keep my favorite gloss of the moment (right now Fenty Beauty Fu$$Y), Clinique Almost Lipstick in Pink Honey, Nars Orgasm Glow lip balm (I’m trying to finish it off), some deodorant, sunscreen and a small perfume.

My office makeup bag has whatever I’d need if I cried everything off and looked horrid, then had to go to an important meeting: moisturizing primer, Stila Gypsy creme eyeshadow, a mascara, a conservative highlighter (Becca Prosecco at the moment), Nars Velvet Lip Glide in Playpen, and a Clinique Chubby Stick of foundation that I use as concealer for dark circles.

… plus tweezers, hand creme, Lime Crime Wet Cherry gloss in Disco Cherry, ABH matte lipstick in ‘Dead Roses’ which looks awful on me but it was a gift, and a Lip Smacker.

I keep a makeup bag in my purse w essentials like nail clippers, tweezers, floss, lip balm, hand sanitizer etc but any makeup I may bring w me when I’m out and about ie lipstick, powder etc doesn’t stay in my purse. I take it out at the end of the day!

In my purse, I keep one of my three Urban Decay 5-pan Nagel lipstick palettes, and a travel sized UD 24-7 eyeliner in Zero. On my desk is a lip balm (Burt’s Bees). If I have a night out, I’ll put the lipstick I’m wearing in my purse for touch ups.

I keep a bag in my purse with: Pressed powder (Laura Mercier Translucent), lip balm (currently DE, but will switch soon to something with SPF, either Yes2Carrots or Pacifica), hair tie, glasses wipe, 3 nude lip pencils (MAC Whirl, Milani 4-All Natural, Kevyn Aucoin Medium), a lipgloss (usually Fenty), travel case of ibuprofen, travel perfume (currently Replica Sailing Day), Lactose pills, tweezers, toothpicks, hand cream (L’Occitane), pencil sharpener, and whatever lip products I’m wearing that day.

Lanolips ointment for my ultra dry cuticles, Surratt lash curler for my stick straight lashes, Clinique Cola pop blush – Temptalia recommended, Hourglass retouching fluid (I don’t wear foundation so I use this as a concealer) and Loreal lipgloss in the shade sangria. My bag is way too big!

In the zippered makeup compartment of my bag:

(1) Products du jour: Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy lipstick in Intense Nude, Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Amethyst, and Origins Ginger Essence travel spray.

(2) Products that are always in my bag: MAC Pressed Blot Powder (the best for touching up shine on nose and chin) and three products I rarely ever use but carry them just in case of makeup emergency: Estée Lauder Double Wear Concealer, Clinique Superfine Brow Liner, and Besame Lip Gloss in Caramel.

I forgot to mention what’s in my desk at work: L’Oreal Colour Riche Shine in Varnished Rosewood. Sometimes when I wear a bright or dark lipstick shade to work, I feel like toning it down later in the day, so Varnished Rosewood is a great basic MLBB shade to switch to. It goes with every eye look I wear and isn’t drying.

I’ve had to bring a makeup bag to work with me recently. I usually get foundation on before heading out the door.

Currently I have:
Coloupop Shock eyeshadows. Easy to swipe on with fingers
Bobbi Brown eyeliner
Mascara primer and L’Oreal masacara (waterproof)
Crème Shop Cushion blush

I have an entire desk drawer of lipsticks and glosses.

I have Glossier balm dot com in my desk drawer (just trying to use it up, don’t particularly recommend it), and in my bag I carry around a bunch of lipsticks and a little pot of Smith’s Rosebud Salve. I go through my lipstick bag periodically and remove them all and then put three or four back in, usually things that I’m trying to finish, or maybe haven’t been used in awhile, but over time the collection I carry around with me grows. It’s a cycle.

I just counted and I’m up to TEN lipsticks in the bag right now! I’d tell you all what they were but I don’t want to go through them at my desk and list them out because I’m sure my coworker in the cube across the aisle would notice and ask me what the hell I’m doing, haha.

Makeup has come a long way and the need to carry anything has dropped off significantly. I typically carry only lip products; some tried and true lip colours and a gloss and lip balm. I had my brows microbladed and so no longer feel the need to carry an eye pencil (yay!)
I know Colour Pop Oh Snap lip pencil is in my bag, a Bite beauty lip pencil that matches my lip tones exactly ( can’t remember the number and can’t believe they discontinued these..argh) along with Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy lip balm, Marc Jacobs One Mauve Time, Natasha Denona Lip Colour Shine in 56 Natural Lilac Rose, Pat McGrath lip gloss in Aliengelic, and a new addition: By Terry Lip Expert Shine in 16 Baby Beige

On my desk is Marc Jacobs Coconut Mist and By Terry Lip Baume (and a LARGE bottle of Advil!) In my purse, an eyelash curler, Nars Orgasm Lip Balm, and Cle de Peau compact 🙂

I used to carry an entire makeup bag, but now it’s just lip products. Right now I have Pat McGrath’s gloss in Aliengelic, a Fenty Beauty gloss in Fenty Glow (I’m going to have to buy a new one, I use it that much), an old MAC lip pencil in Whirl, a Kylie Cosmetics velvet lip color in Charm, and a Kylie Cosmetics lip pencil in Candy K (I’ve been wearing that as my all over lip color, it weighs nothing at all and looks great).

I don’t do touchups during the day, but I accumulate lip products at my desk and in my bag. The only non-lip product I carry with me is some Clinique mascara because for some reason I have a habit of forgetting to do mascara before I leave.

The lip products currently toted around my desk or in my bag: Fresh caramel lip balm, three tubes of Bite agave lip mask (red, lavender, and plain), Aquaphor, Bite liquid lipstick in Lotus Root, Lush Lip Service, Dior Lip Plumping Gloss in Berry, Sephora Oil Infusion in Lavender Crème, a couple of the MAC lip oils they had last year that I wish I would have known they were discontinuing because I really liked them, and at least three or four random EOS, chapstick, Burt’s Bee’s balms I’ve accumulated from various places.

I also carry a couple of bottles of Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab perfume oils in Alice and Embalming Fluid.

Since it typically changes up every time I need to go out, this is what went out with me yesterday: MAC Cherry Mochi Lipglass, L’Oreal Lacquered Strawberry Color Rich Shine lipstick, UD 24/7 Glide On Lip Pencil in Wonderland, Nyx Pinky Rose SLP, UD 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Corrupt, quad of MAC e/s’s (in case of allergy tearing) of Dazzlelight, Woodwinked, Soft Brown and Folie. And then the things that stay in my bag at all times: MAC Prep & Prime Lips, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Medium, a mini Bite mirror and a coiled hair tie thingy in case it gets too windy or hot.

I have a little bag of makeup that I take with me when I oversleep so that I can do my makeup in the car on the way to school (Don’t worry, I don’t drive). It includes my brow pomade (Elf Lock On Liner & Brow Cream), my brow brushes (Essence Angled Brow Brush and Precise Eyeliner Brush), a brow pencil (Elf Instant Lift Brow Pencil), and mascara (Essence Lashes of the Day). Occasionally I’ll throw in a lip gloss, lipstick, eyeliner, or highlighter to add something to my look for the day.

I often do my makeup in the car on the way to work. So I carry the basics and a couple of choices for lip color. For me that looks like: small jar from Estee Lauder foundation sample – now ELDouble Wear mixed w/ It CC Cream, Bare Minerals stick concealer, Buxom lip plumping gloss, Sephora gel lip pencil (love those – lasting, stops feathering, perfect texture) in mlbb shade, contour powder, wonderful tiny EL shadow quad from gwp in warm neutrals, small stick blush from Tarte, small stick highlighter, brow pencil, 2 pencil liners (brown & metallic copper), 3-ish lipsticks, now moving into spring colors – rosegold, lt. brown, peach.

Jack Black lip balm, Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm in Rose, and ColourPop Ultra Glossy lipgloss in Moon Child

The makeup I travel with on the other hand is a different story ?

Ariana Avatar

I usually keep everything that I need in case my makeup is fading: Kiko bb cream – not foundation, it would be too tricky to reapply, Charlotte Tillbury pressed powder, Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, Bobbi Brown afternoon glow highlighter, Too Faced better than sex mascara, Avon cream eyeshadow in a bronzy color and whatever lipstick I wear that day.

Ariel Riley Avatar

I carry a pressed powder, blush, and lip gloss in my purse, but no actual makeup bag.

And I have lotion and body spray in the car and a nail file because if I didn’t, my nails would pick that ONE TIME to break off at a weird angle!

Too many lipsticks. I need to clean it out.

Compact with regular & magnifying mirrors; Tony Moly Cats Wink Powder; Fenty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Fenty Glow; Bobby Brown Lux Lip Color in Bond; ColourPop Lux Lipstick in Pinkies Up; UD Vice Lipstick in Accident; NARS Audacious Lipstick in Kelly; two lip balms; MAC 316 Lip Brush; NYX HD Photogenic Concealer Wand in Alabaster; deluxe mini of UD Primer Potion in Original; travel-sized UD 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion; NYX Slim Eye Pencil in Black; travel-sized Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara; e.l.f. Makeup Remover Pen; UD Grindhouse sharpener; rollerball of Lady Gaga Fame; sample spray bottle of Tom Ford Black Orchid; black hair elastics; face blotting papers; and dental floss and disposable picks.

Christine, specifically which Jack Black lip balm do you use? On the Canadian Sephora there are two options, a tube (which comes in 4 different scents and has SPF 25) and a stick. I’m soon to be out of lip balm and looking to try something new. Thanks!

Moxie Avatar

I don’t carry a purse, don’t wear makeup (but love reading about it) and can rarely find leggings with pockets for stuff, so the most I carry is a tinted lip balm that I usually pop in the inside door handle thingy or leave on my desk.

Bonnie Avatar

I have a little bag in my car in case I need to touch up something between jobs or otherwise on the go. I have the Naked Basics palette, an eyebrow pencil (don’t remember what brand), a black Rimmel eyeliner, some blur sticks, my KKW Charlotte Tilbury lipstick and a few other random things I don’t remember. The thing I grab most for is that black eyeliner. It’s the easiest way to perk up my face if I need to.
