Really soft, dense, buttery powder products, whether eyeshadow, blush, or highlighter, though I am ALWAYS up for a new highlighter.

Okay… I just realized over the past couple of days, I just ordered MAC Top Knot, Top Hat, AND Fertile… I need help. I’ve wanted those 3 for a while, but was never able to nab them, but seeing them all on eBay, at the same time, all at reasonable prices, I took it as a sign, LOL!

It’s not a specific item that I have a weakness for, but when I’m at an Ulta and find myself in the Nyx section… it’s like another part of my brain is like, “shhh shhh. Go to sleep Elyse. I’ll take over from here.” and I just buy and buy and buy before I can even stop myself. It’s… it’s all just so reasonably-priced! *sob*

I’m prone to impulse buying limited edition products, especially palettes or sets that I can justify as being “a good deal.” Cheek products are the big one, for sure. Blush is my favorite makeup item in general, so LE blushes and blush palettes are basically auto-buys for me! (It’s a problem!)

I have a weakness for pretty packaging, packaging color and packaging that has a vintage look. I just purchased some cosmetics from Carmindy & Co because the packaging is turquoise; I have not received them yet and hope that I have made a good choice.

For me, the better question would be what’s NOT your buying weakness. That would definitely be lip products. The only time I wear lipstick is special occasions and I rarely wear lip gloss. I’ve also never tried a lip balm that helped by excessively dry lips AT ALL. My lips are pretty pigmented, so I don’t really need anything anyway,

I’m a sucker for everything else.

jesi Avatar

I absolutely agree with those, plus natural rose scented lip balms (no petroleum products or parabens, please! )

I’m also on the hunt for something that treats adult acne well without destroying my skin. This is much more difficult than the color product hunting.

I’m struggling semi-successfully with my weakness for eye shadow palettes. Now that I already have the basics, what I need to focus on is finding specific colors and finishes that I want in high-quality formulas. But palettes are just so pretty, and I so love eyeshadows! But I just end up not using some palettes all that much, and it seems like such a waste. My other big weaknesses are lip colors (starting to love minis, as I’ve only ever used up and re-purchased one color lip product) and *brushes* — I just *love* brushes!

I cannot stop myself from buying eyeliner. I have an entire 4 compartment plastic beauty organizer of eyeliner pencils and liquid pens, but I still end up buying more if I see a great new color or formula. My latest discover was the double ended gel eyeliners from Topshop. They’re AMAZING, and I got a beauty dark cobalt blue and medium blue-leaning teal, plus a nude highlighter and matte white. I couldn’t resist!

It used to be eyeshadow palettes, then I went through a phase with boldly pigmented lipsticks. Since putting myself on a no-buy with a sort of credit system to “earn” more beauty products, I’ve kept myself from “collecting” more products with a focus on using the products I have. Beauty is a dangerous obsession when you don’t have a salary!

Lipsticks and lip glosses–I can’t resist a beautiful lip color. It’s a particularly unfortunate weakness because lip products go bad before other types of beauty products, so I’m dialing back on my lip purchases. Right now I’m actively resisting MAC Petit Red and Acai, and it is so hard!!

Mine goes in spurts it seems. For instance, now it’s lipsticks and skincare! A couple months ago, it was blush and highlighter, Fall, it was eyeshadow and shadow palettes, prior to that it was brushes. I do have a running list of things I want like the full or almost full set. But, buying all at once is not feasible for me. For, instance MUFE artist shadows and Guerlain Rouge G lipsticks, I am slowly accumulating by buying every week or two weeks as much as I can. But , with all the new collections, that has been a bit difficult as of late. So, it actually works out where my collection is gradually building fully. but, not all one type of product. I do probably buy too many mascaras than I need since they have to be pitched. So, I have started working on that or have at least shelved them so the stagger.

Celia Avatar

Rouge G lipsticks (gotta catch em all! Invariably they’re wearable colors [and interesting ones!], have the best texture, wear like iron, and always provide comfort), anything lavender (particularly for lips, eyes, cheeks, and nails), cream shadows that withstand my oily lids, eyeliners in every color variation, and definitely I have the same affinity for any truly buttery powder.

Nail polish. Nail polish, nail polish, nail polish. Which surprise almost everyone I know, because I never wear nail polish on my hands, but I always have at least four different colors going on my toes at any given time (and usually do each foot completely different from the other). I made myself a book of colors to document my current stash (which I carry with me), and that has slowed down my purchases some, since I can now see how close the color I’m ogling on a display really is to one I already have.

Having said that, I can feel my compulsion for stunning, unique eyeshadows (think duochrome and heartbreakingly-beautiful base/shimmer effects) building, so companies like Aromaleigh, Fyrinnae, and Shiro/Detrivore/etc. are about to have all my money.

Jane Avatar

Bright colors and pretty packaging. And nail polish.

Stick a nail polish on an endcap with a sign that says “NEW!” and I’m drawn to it like a moth to a flame (case in point: today I’m wearing “Watch out or Elsa!” from Orly’s new Frozen collaboration. It was the brightest color on the display. I was able to pass the makeup bags and the false eyelashes and lip glosses, and then I turned the corner and Boom! nail polish.)

Eyeshadow, eyeliner and lipstick. Especially if the colors are one or more of the following: bright, intensely pigmented, unusual color, unusual finish.

Daniel Avatar

Unique colors: gray lipsticks (Occ Sebastian), cool toned sparkles (MAC Happily ever After,), Duochrome eyeshadow were the colors are really different from each other (MUG Insomnia pigment), orange gold blush (NARS Taj Majal), etc. I don’t really like to use colors everybody uses.

My beauty buying weakness – or weaknesses are for anything pretty – anything I think I would love – I am out of control after trying to reign myself in for a while. But it’s so much fun looking for new and gorgeous products : )

Janet Avatar

Definitely foundation! I can’t stop must from buying every new one that comes out, always on the hunt for the perfect dewy base and then highlighters. I am absolutely loving the Tom ford cream highlighter that comes with the duo but I still keep buying hoping to find any other holy grail.

Make up of all kind! Lately eye shadows. I got my eyes done and on the 18th I can start wearing eye shadows again…with my new, now showing lids!! No more hooded eyes! I’ve benn buying every pallette I can get my hands…mostly dupes, although some UDs. Brow makeup. I have tons, but after watching some videos, I bought Anastasia brow biz???, and I love it to pieces. It makes at so ez to fill in and perfect my brows, I’m throwing all others away!! Some more help would be appreciated! Finally lipsticks, usually ones recommended by you Christine. I look forward to each review. I finally bought Ruby Woo and waiting for it to come in. Just went to Ultra for the first time….HEAVEN!!!!!

Josie Avatar

Brushes. I can’t go to any beauty show or store, like Ulta and Sephora, without looking at them. And when Real Rechniques release new brushes I have to buy them. I don’t need them but I want them. I have well over a hundred brushes 😉

Marie Avatar

My beauty buy weakness….those eye shadow palettes and blush palettes…or sets os items together, eyeliner with mascara and a shadow. Lip sets….any sets!

Susan Dowman Nevling Avatar

I would have to say eye makeup in general is my obsession. Specifically eye liner and shadows. I’m somewhat bad with mascara but in needs to be replaced so often that I limit that to 2 to kinds.

Elizabeth Avatar

Palettes, totally palettes. I have mostly eye shadow palettes, but I love whole look palettes. I like having everything together. It makes it easier for me, I don’t have to go through my train case piecemeal to find the perfect colors to go together when I put my makeup on. I probably have far more than I can use in my lifetime, but they are my weakness, and most of the things I buy are Urban Decay. I also stock up on a favorite color if I know it’s going to be discontinued. I think I have five Gash lipsticks, and the Mrs. Mia Wallace is a close second, I have 3 of those. I also love MAC Ruby Woo lipstick, but that is permanent, I have 2 of them.

Kelly Avatar

Oh geez……do I really have to answer this??? I’m always looking for the latest, newest eyeshadow palette. It seems to be my weakness. I seriously probably own near 80+ eyeshadow palettes from every brand imaginable. I’m sure there is someone out there who has me beat, but that is my personal weakness. It seems that I go in waves though….at one point liquid foundations were my addiction, then mascaras. I can’t help myself. I need therapy. Any recommendations?

Cheryl Avatar

My makeup weakness is eye shadow palettes!! Do I really need as many as I have or want?!? No, but they are sure fun to collect and to use!

karen Avatar

Certain brands are my weakness- anything put out by NARS for example (just bought a dual intensity blush), and Bobbi Brown (just bought the bronze shimmer brick for summer). Chanel is tempting too. They always have my attention. Also eyeshadow palettes are not to be resisted.

miekogirlie99 Avatar

limited edition products & good packaging…i love good products too but unfortunately what really draws you in is the marketing.

Foundation!! I have recently found my perfect match, but not perfect finish (oily skin, my perfect match is Maybelline Fit Me in 220). I know it’s just base but if I come across new release, blogs, tutorials, I will run out to the store and buy a new one.
