SK II facial treatment essence. I use it everyday. It’s very expensive, but helps keep my skin hydrated.
Sunday Riley Tidal. I use this twice a day so I go through them pretty quickly.
I tried a sample of this on my hands before bed the other night and it felt really interesting, both when applying and after dry-down. If you don’t mind sharing, what are your feelings and observations on this product?
Sorry it has taken a bit to get back to you but I was out of town for the weekend at my daughters college graduation. I started using Tidal about six months ago. I had received a tester, along with a couple of other Sunday Riley products. I am still using the Good Genes and the Tidal. A couple of the oils did not work for me, causing breakouts which at 63 years of age was a surprise. The sample of Tidal was interesting but didn’t do much in the small amount provided so decided to invest in a full size and give it a try. I have very dry skin and my daughter has very oily skin. We both use Tidal and both love it. It is one of those products that seems polarizing. You either love it or you hate it. For me, I had dry spots, hyperpigmentation and some texture issues from a past break out of eczema. The Tidal makes my skin feel hydrated and plump but without the oil and grease of other products. It sinks in and is comfortable to wear even under makeup. It doesn’t affect how my makeup applies. It has faded my hyperpigmentation and has completely resolved the dry spots. The textural issues remain and I don’t think that it has had any effect on the texture. My daughter, being an oily skin type, loves the fact that it isn’t oily or greasy but offers her hydration. Although her skin is oily it is dehydrated so this works for her. I didn’t love the smell of it at first but have gotten use to it with time. It doesn’t feel like anything on the skin so you feel like it probably isn’t doing anything. I do add an additional moisturizer in the winter. Hope this helps but if I haven’t answered your question please contact me again.
Thanks for the well-considered reply! Tidal sounds like something I need to take for a test drive. It made it to the list. Thanks again!
Ole Henriksen Truth Serum. It was fine but not the best vitamin C serum I’ve tried.
– pixi glow tonic! not bad initially, results tapered
off.
– the ordinary serums! the zinc niacinimide and the alpha arbutin ones. can’t say i’ve seen any results yet though..
– skin inc hydrating mask! good stuff.
First Aid Beauty face cleanser, already had a backup.
Yet another tub of Pond’s Cold cream. I use it to remove my makeup nightly. It’s not fancy nor hip but it does the job wonderfully!
Christine or anyone else out there n Temptalia-land,
I’m looking for a good sunblock with 50 spf to wear under makeup. (I live at high altitude so I need at least 50spf) I’m using L’Oreal’s UV Perfect Even Complexion SPF50 PA with Meroxyl which isn’t available in the US. This L’Oreal one is really great – lightweight, plays well with all my foundations, does not flashback, says put, not overly drying not greasy, does not irritate my skin at all. But I’d like my products to multi-task so I’m looking at La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 spf Daily Anti-Aging Facial Primer with Sunscreen or La Roche-Posay Anthelios AOX Daily Antioxidant Serum with Sunscreen for Face SPF 50. They are both highly rated but has anyone tried these French combo products?
Hi Bibi!
Yes, I’ve tried the La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 SPF. I didn’t have any trouble with it under my foundation, but I’m not sure about flashback. I bought mine at Target, which made it accessible and affordable.
You took the words out of my mouth, Gwen. I have used up many tubes of Anthelios (I use the 60 SPF). It comes in different textures, so play around. Also, I thin mine with argan oil so it is a bit more moisturizing. Every morning I add a few drops and blend in my palm
Do you use the Pond’s to remove your eye makeup? If yes, does it sting or leave a film in your eyes? My eyes are so sensitive, so I’m curious. Thanks.
Ooops, meant to add a waterproof products question, too.
Hi anne! I use ponds to remove my whole face every night!
It keeps my skin soft, and happy!
No stinging for the eyes as well!
Thank you, Shannon. I’ve always wanted to try it. Dustin Hunter has recommended in the past and I had forgotten all about it. Does it remove waterproof mascara and tightlining? Does it leave a filmy residue in the eye? What do you use to remove it? Sorry for so many questions, but I’m really interested. Thanks for your response, too. Anne
Don’t be sorry! 😀
It doesn’t leave a filmy residue on my eyes. Nor do my eyes get all cloudy. Iv used it to remove black waterline liner before and it worked like a charm!
What I do, is take a small scoop from the jar, and smooth it over my DRY face and massage it In. Then I wet a dark washcloth, and I remove it with that!
I’ll follow up with a second cleanse and bam! Clean, happy skin! 🙂
Thank you! I’m going to give all that a try for sure!
When I used a sunscreen/primer combo, I found that I was using more primer than needed to get the full sunscreen coverage. I tried the LRP Anthelios 50 Daily Anti-Aging one as well as the Murad version. They were both heavy on my skin and I definitely needed my Clarisonic to get them off, especially the LRP.
Hi Bibi
Yes I use La Roche Posay Ultra light 60
It is perfect , lightweight and transparent,
I think either the 50 or 60 would be great for you.
Living in Australia high factor SPF is essential – I have the La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 spf Daily Anti-Aging Facial Primer in ultra light – and it is amazing – perfect under any foundation as it really protects my porcelain skin in the sun (not that I stand out in the summer sun, mind you).
So I have sensitive skin as well and I don’t have any problems with it.
Bibi — I use La Roche Posay Anthelios 60 ultra light facial sunscreen and like it a lot — smooth, doesn’t make my skin greasy, very effective sunscreen. Not a combo product though, not sure if this answers your question
I’m another Pond’s Cold cream user. I swear by it. It is one of those products that I will never switch out for the next new thing.
Thanks everyone for all your helpful responses!
Anne- I do use Ponds to take off my eye makeup and it does not sting nor bother my contact lenses. For some of my heavy duty waterproof mascaras I do have to use straight vaseline for removal. Vaseline does not bother my contacts nor sting my eyes either and does not give me milia like coconut oil does.
Surprisingly, I ended up (happy) with Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunscreen SPF50 after trying out a lot of both drug store and high-end brands. I’ve been using sunscreen under foundation for 20 years now. It feels nothing under makeup! I live in a very humid and tropical country too. I’m loving this at the moment.
IT Cosmwtics Confidence Cream
Neutrogena HydroBoost Foaming Cleanser
Haha you weren’t getting much skin protection. Spf 18 is pretty pathetic. All that perfume shouldn’t be in skincare. You shouldn’t have perfume on your face.
The last product I finished was an Olay Microsculpting Serum. It was an affordable and decent serum
Yep, that’s the one that I use – Beautypeadia rated it pretty well.
tarte forest of the sea cleanser. It was ok, not so good that I have to repurchase it.
Just finished up my Korres Wild Rose Sleeping Facial last night! I liked the creamy texture, but I’m not a huge fan of rose scents and it was fairly heavily scented.
Barefoot SOS Replenishing Moisturiser. Would repurchase, it’s got a subtle rose fragrance and is good on my sensitive, reactive skin.
The last one was my Fresh essence… wait no, Pixi glow tonic pads.
I two things just yesterday. P50 1970 toner and Serum Fluide VIP O2, both from Biologique Recherche. My Konjac sponge fell apart too, so I guess that counts. It was a three-fer yesterday.
Just restarted a Cosrx aha/bha toner. Almost finito with Paula resist cleanser.
Tatcha Essence and, yes, I repurchased. Love the stuff!
Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quench Serum – I really do like it, it was especially great for me during the fall & winter.
Josie Maran Argan infinity oil. it’s my skin care holy grail.
SK-II cellumination mask-in lotion. A great winter/dry weather serum-type treatment for my skin. I did repurchase though am using less frequently now it’s getting more summery/humid.
I just finished my Too Faced Hangover Primer. This is probably my third or fourth tube.
I do love the hydrating qualities, but I’ve noticed lately that it can bunch up underneath my foundation, which is the same foundation I’ve been wearing for a while. Am I using too much? (I do like to use about three pumps).
I’m open to using another primer if anyone has any suggestions for something hydrating but also fills in fine lines, etc. for sensitive skin. I’m all ears!
TGIF everyone! 🙂
Maybe you are using too much or not waiting long enough before adding your foundation. I usually leave about 3-5 minutes between primer and foundation.
Apparently Innoxa has a pretty good primer for sensitive skin.
Kypris Beauty Elixir : 1000 roses. Real magic for my skin. Unfortunately, at the moment I can’t afford a backup.
Just last night finished my first bottle of Curology, 9% Azelaic acid, 1% clindamycin, 0.09% tretinoin. I have not seen the magic yet, but I’ll stick with it through another bottle.
Just about completely done with my open bottle of Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic & Retinol eye serum. Trying to get the very last drops out using the bottom of the squeeze thingy to scrape it off the sides!
I use the D. Gross one too, Nance. Also use the Drunk Elephant shaba eye complex/serum but for day time use and just ran out of it. The pump is amazing and super hygienic, but tricky and while I thought I was completely out, I tortured that sucker into giving me another week’s wear. Woot. Both these products are scrapeworthy!
MAC Timecheck Lotion
Bobbi Brown vitamin enriched Face Base. It’s a moisturizer easily absorbed. Next I’m gonna try The Ordinary Moisturizer tho the price is fab!
Sunday Riley, Blue Moon Tranquility Cleansing Balm — liked it but I’ve liked less expensive oil cleansers just as much, so probably won’t re-purchase.
Ole Henriksen pure truth melting cleanser . I love the smell but the Clinique Take the Day Off cleansing Balm does a better job so I’m back to using that . Funny that several people mentioned Ponds Cold Cream ! I use that maybe once a month or when I think of it because I love the smell !

Soap and Glory Peaches and Clean Cleanser. Use this in the evening though it’s been replaced by a bottle of Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish.
Finished a sample size of Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Oil and though I hated the scent (a strong, weird herbal – oregano? – smell) I must admit my skin looks hydrated the morning after and the scent doesn’t last that long (thankfully, or perhaps I fall asleep and don’t notice). I bought a replacement to try it for longer term and see if its worth it.
Missha First Essence Mist
Olay Pro X Deep Wrinkle Treatment. Good, reasonably priced (compared to other similar products) fragrance free retinol serum with niacin & peptides. Paula’s Choice Beautypedia gives it 5/5 stars! just repurchased.
Rodial bee venom night cream
Lancome visionnaire skin corrector
Both products I use regularly and always have a backup
Estée Lauder idealist. Great serum/primer. Already repurchased
Shiseido Ultimune Eye Serum. Scraped out the last bits after prying the bottle apart. Nice but I’m going to try the Benefiance one next. Also finished a tub of Vichy Idealia blby balm. Wonderful for dry winter skin.
I one of my staples is Skin Medica TNS Essential Serum ,
Love it .
Salma Hayek Nuance Mineral Veil SPF 50. I probably have a few more applications in the bottle, but I misplaced it, so… I won’t be repurchasing, as it was DC’d pretty much the exact time I bought it, but it was definitely a product I loved. I just bought Coppertone Clearly Sheer Faces SPF 50, which I do like better-so far.
Eucerin dermatoclean toner used up this this morning! Fortunately, I have my backup ready. I used to use Shiseido Eudermine, but Eucerin is about 1/8 the price and has similar ingredients, including hyaluronic acid, etc. so I figured I’d save my money. I really don’t notice much difference. Except that gorgeous expensive red glass bottle with the stopper that comes out if it tips over.
I have finished a few lately: Olay Regenerist Night Moisture Cream and Serum; Prevage Eye Cream and Elizabeth Arden’s lip balm – which was actually quite good.
Tatcha Brightining Serum
Last thing I finished was my ride or die moisturizer…Clinique Moisture Surge. Thing that’s just about out – Sephora Triple Action Cleansing Water.
Boscia Black Thermal Cleanser, Tarte Sunguard, and nearing the end of the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Antiwrinkle cream. Replaced the Boscia Cleanser with Neutrogena’s ultra gentle foaming Cleanser, the Tarte Sunguard with Clinique Pep Start SPF 50. Loved the LRP ultra light sunscreen spf 60 but it has quite a bit of alcohol in it.
Cosrx Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask. I’ve already bought a new one.
Cerave 30 spf. I put it on before my other face products. I wear it on days when I don’t wear makeup too.
I think it was lip balm from Jouer, if that counts. I’ve almost finished a gel cleanser from clarins, I can’t remember what they call it. I’ve repurchased as it takes away all my makeup very easily and swiftly.
Mizon Night Repair Melting Rich Cream. Really good, lasted me a while, so I got a bit bored, but I’ll probably repurchase it once my other night cream is finished.
The Ordinary 10% Azelaic Acid suspension. Paula’s Choice CALM Redness Relief Serum, and PC AHA body lotion. I’m about to use up PC RESIST Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense, and also CeraVe face lotion. The latter is an experiment, as I’ve never been completely happy with any face lotions I’ve used; I won’t be rebuying it. I think I’m going back to my PC Moisture Boost Hydrating Cream, as it’s come closest so far (and might actually be perfect with the addition of the PC Omega serum I’ve added to my routine, which isn’t really moisturizing itself, but oddly enough, seems to make everything else I use more moisturizing).
With a few exceptions, my current skincare is routine, so when I use up one item, I have a backup.
I’m almost finishing Cera Ve facial cleanser. Like it! Cleans well and does not dry me out. I have used toner with a cotton with hazel and it does not show trace of makeup on it. Great products! I being getting those teeny milia under my neck area trying to keep extra clean see if it helps otherwise I don’t like using toner tends to dry out skin on already combination skin. Saulicidic acid, toner, benzoyl peroxide, retinol must use carefully I find them drying. Follow up with a good moisturizer. Or use less frequently.
Clarins Extra Gentle Toner. I love this stuff and will always use it 🙂
It was either Clean & Clear Gel Moisturizer or Acne.org treatment gel.
